How to figure out page order for printing zines
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.2 года назад
How do you arrange zine pages so they print in the correct order? There are lots of ways to do this, depending on the size of your zine and the number of pages. Here's one method for quarter-page zines.
Great work! I'm looking forward to trying this out!
Thank you!
This was great! Exactly what I was looking for
this is SO helpful. i'm gonna do this. thank you so much!! :)
I'm glad this helped!
@@mythicaltype i've already printed it off and it was super easy using your method, thank you so much
Very neat! Thanks ❤
Thanks for this! Can you show us how your printing and folding process looks post canvas?
Sure thing! I'll keep this in mind for a future video.
Thank you, this was so helpful!
❤❤❤
Cool! Thanks! I played those games in the 70s.
I feel like this is something computers should be able to do for us, but I feel like if you depend on computers for stuff then you probably think zines are outdated anyway.
Yeah there are ways to do this on a computer. But one thing I like about making zines is spending time away from computers. So I like figuring out page order by hand. :)
This might be a silly question but how did you get your design to be upside down.. I’m having trouble figuring out how to actually start designing it once I have the template laid out. Thank you!!
Hi there! If you go to 6:22 in the video, I show one way of rotating text. Click on the text box first. Then click on the button with two arrows and drag to rotate the text until the degrees box says "180." This works the same for images. There's another method to rotate text or images upside down. Click on the text or image first. Then click on "Position" in the top white bar. A sidebar appears on the left side of the screen. In the "Rotate" box, type "180" and press the Enter/Return key on your keyboard. That will flip the text or image upside-down.
@@mythicaltype thank you!!!!
Very very good tutorial. Thank you so much
Thanks for sharing. this is great.
I’m glad you found it helpful!
Excellent tutorial, and I'm particularly pleased that the zine can be entirely designed online, no purchase of software necessary.
Thank you! I’m glad the tutorial was helpful. 🙂
How this tutorial only has 77 likes is beyond me. Amazing tutorial! Thank you so much for putting this together!
Aw, thanks so much! ☺️
I'm just getting into making zines and this helped me so much. Thank you!
Aw yay! I’m happy to help. Happy zine making! ☺️
Great tutorial! Do more!! 💟💟💟
Thank you!
They're all so cool! I can't wait to see what you make next :) (I especially love the if we didn't have to depend on cars one. It's something that frustrates me majorly)
Thanks so much! 😃
also what type of paper do you use? 😀
I answered in the other comment, but so it’s here as well: I use 24 lb standard white paper at home. This paper from Mixam is 100 lb satin paper.
@@mythicaltype got it...BTW looks nice
I bought a color printer - wondering why some people use print services, seems pricey.
I have a color printer at home and that’s what I usually use to print zines. I wanted to try Mixam as an experiment. 🙂 This paper from Mixam is 100 lb satin and much nicer than what I typically print on at home (24 lb standard white paper). Considering the paper and print quality from Mixam and also that they fold and staple the zines, I think the price was very reasonable.
@@mythicaltype thanks for the info 🧡
Thank you so much! This was the best Canva mini zine tutorial, easy and to the point. now maybe my stuff will be better aligned. Keep them coming!
Day 1 of this arena and IM LOST! but im going to figure it out!!! thanks for your help! lol
Very interesting to see, I'm not much of a planner so I usually just take a sheet of printer paper, fold it into a zine and draw/write directly on the pages.... at most I do pencil sketches first and then ink over everything once i have all the pages sketched out. I like the diy aesthetic so I don't mind pencil lines showing or things not being exact, but your process looks really good for people who want their zines to be a little neater! I just don't usually have the patience for it lol. Nice tutorial!!
Thanks! For some zines, I do jump in and work directly on the pages. But for other zines (like this one), I need to do some planning to figure out what I want to make in the first place. 🙂
@@mythicaltype very fair!! I make a bunch of zines with illustrated song lyrics and stuff so i usually have all my text already picked out beforehand, which makes the layout a bit easier lol
Thank you!! I've made a bunch of traditional mini zines but could never quite figure out how to go about making digital ones, this looks very simple and helpful and I can't wait to try it!! <3
This guide is absolutely fantastic, easy to follow and seems easy enough to transfer into other programs! Thank you!
Thanks! ☺I'm glad it's helpful.
thanks
This is wonderful, thank you! I tried making a zine in Canva without a tutorial and couldn't figure it out - it's actually much easier than I thought now that I have this guide
I'm glad this helped!
Getting into the world of zine making and this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much for sharing this.
I'm glad this helped!
