A session of trains running using the layout as an end to end for a change. Also a little GWR Holden with a couple of old Hornby 4 wheel coaches. This was again, one of the hottest days of the year in mid August.

I agree it looks superb. The livery is perfect. There goes another dint in the retirement fund. Thank you for sharing.
Now that's looks classy
Looks amazing! I ordered the same version and can’t wait!!
Did that walk this year.. the moss is thick because the air is clean
Athearn blue box locos are bullet proof, easy to strip down and fix... no worries there.
Yes, well made and simple. Runs well.
I have two terriers a old tooling Dapol terrier 2635 Morden in SR green livery and a new tooling Hornby terrier DS680 Waddon in BR departmental black livery.
i remember them all
I like Pullman coaches
Yes, me too
Why do people say " ec,cetera .it's etcetera .fgs
Really, I have no idea.
Cool video! New subscriber 🙋♂️
Shall never forget moquette seats hot with sunshine or the un-wordly orange glow through the tinted skylights.....Bedford SB! Then came the greenhouse Duple Vegas on VAL chassis. After that Dad bought a car and holidays weren't quite the same.
I love your statue
Nice footage. I saw it at Kent House where it came through a lot slower.
Thanks, they tend to get through this area as fast as possible!! ;-)
1960s Bedford bus is the most beautiful bus, had a few here in Cape Town and always loved the 4 wheels in the front.
Great class of loco. Thank you.
My pleasure, a slightly steadier version with another loco will appear soon.
Wow ! This was a great opportunity to revisit my boyhood. I remember going on holiday with my Mam and Dad to Rhyl or Blackpool in the late 50’s and early 60’s in these wonderful coaches. As a little boy they were so shiny and impressive and it was such a thrill to ride on them. They were so beautifully designed and looked sleek and elegant incorporating real craftsmanship. They were great days.
i remember them all
What a wonderful collection lovely to see the 2 Burlingam Seagulls the best British coach builder ever
Thank you.
Great to see so many buses/coaches from my youth. Particularly interested in the Western Welsh buses featured.
Thank you glad you liked them.
So sweetheart
Thank you
We used to catch one of these (at 1:00) to travel from Grays to our holiday at Butlin's Clacton in the 50s. It was considered a real treat and we knew out week's holiday had begun. Happy days.
Many thanks for producing the video. Great to see Well Wood again. Did you live in Coney Hall?
Thanks, I have lived in Coney Hall in the past, and the Pickhurst area when younger.
Thanks for your reply. Also enjoyed your trip to Pooh sticks bridge where we visited many years ago with our Daughter but approached it from Ashdown Forest down a narrow muddy track. My brother and I were brought up in West Wickham down the then industrial end before Glebe Way ( Tank Traps ) were finally completed as a road. I completed my education at the House of Correction in Hawes Lane in 1963. Now live in Suffolk with my family. Keep posting your little gems.
@@RogerClark-y3xI too was at Hawes Down, at the juniors in 1963, my older brother and cousins remember the time before Glebe Way was built.
@@barryhumphriesinc.broughto3098 I seem to remember a lad in my class with your surname that I thought lived in Gates Green Road. My brother who is six years older than me, use take me to Wickham Common to meet up with a whole gang of kids during the summer. There was an escarpment of lose gravel that they toboggan down in metal milk crates or old bits of tin. I am surprised they reached adulthood! You mentioned Pickhurst and I do not know whether you have seen a RUclips video by GJEVIDEO of Pickhurst Manor. It is a sad sight but what I suppose is called progress. One notable feature is that Health and Safety was not a consideration.
yes me too, school buses all old ones,. lololol now I am 69 my first motor Bike was " J" 1971. MY FIRST CAR A RENUALT 8 D reg 1966.. live in Canada now
Austin Somerset for me, 1956, the same age as me
When I was at secondary school we were taken by coach. Normally coaches that were at the end of their working life, several of which were featured here. Bring back good memories of the sixties.
Happy to oblige😁
These buses remind me of my school bus too… at Hunstanton Secondary Modern, buses, (just like these), to take the kids home to their respective villages… c1968
One I recognized ...at 1:18... a coach registered in Great Yarmouth (EX 9850) - about mid-50's. And again at 1:42 (EX 9200). Another at 1:58 (CEX 200), and at 3:52 (GEX 780). In those days, Great Yarmouth was a separate vehicle registration authority, independent of Norfolk.
I've only got one thing to say..... MCCW Orion. I'll see myself out.....
I had to look that up, Leyland Titan ... I am no expert sadly.
Very enjoyable video. I can remember our school coaches very well. Our local operator used an all Duple fleet during my school years around 1965 to 1975. As I remember these were Bella Vegas, the majestic six wheeled Vega Major (my favourite). They also operated what looked the same as the Bella Vega, but with an inward opening front door, it even retained the same iconic ‘ sloping window’ design as per Bella Vega. It had the chromed name Marauder in the same place and letter style as the Bella Vega. During the last few months of my school years, the company began using the futuristic looking Duple Viceroy? I still preferred the Vega Major! Back in 1967, Santa bought me a Dinky Toys Vega Major, complete with flashing lights and working steering. Happy days.
Yes, school coaches. We got them to go swimming (a pet hate of mine) the coach made up for it, and then they built a swimming bath nearby.
@@barryhumphriesinc.broughto3098I hated swimming too. The swimming trips were done by a different company operating Plaxton Panorama coaches.
Very nice…. Thank you for showing .
This is excellent. Unfortunately I can only identify a small fraction of these even though I was around some of this era as a child but I was always interested in unusual buses and coaches, particularly Ribble which operated out of Manchester where I lived then. I was, and still am, fascinated by the Ribble White Ladies which were double deck coaches. I can't recall seeing any others of this category at that time until the Gay Hostess Atlanteans came along. I think that there may be only one of the White Ladies left. Nice to see that none of these photos show vehicles plastered over with advertising or the name of the operator.
I agree about the adds, I can remember a lot of them, but not the makes of all. Thanks for watching.
The liveries were much better than most today!
hi, great video. i am amazed there are no Southdown coaches in these photos
There was fallowfield and Britten which ran from London on various tours around the homecounties. Also Henry coaches we used to get to Clacton in Essex. The big one was grey_green and orange luxury. Based at Stamford Hill north London. 🙂😉☕👍
I traveled miles with Grey Green and Fallowfield & Britten before the days of motorways.
A LOT of work gone into that layout fantastic
Thank you
From a Golden Era when COACH TOURS and EXCURSIONS were the only way to Travel
I used to travel from Victoria to Inverness via Black&White regularly, loved it.
First class, thanks Barry.
Glad you enjoyed it
Good call on the King Crimson front. If you’ve not already spotted them, Hornby have covered at least two other prog bands in a similar way!
Oh, I haven't spotted them, can you say who?
@@barryhumphriesinc.broughto3098 There was a bunch of Marillion items, Hogarth/Rothery/Kelly/Trewavas/Moseley. Also Porcupine Tree (S Wilson et al)
Wonderful video! Thanks for sharing !
Thank you too
Those both REALLY need a clean and lubrication. They will be running dry and causing rapid wear.
Yep, the set is now wrapped up and stored, the little one is now serviced and running well.
I always feel slightly sorry for foxes, they seem constantly nervous and wary.
He is very spoiled at the moment, I think he would live in the garden if he could.
I love how the fox thinks _"Uh oh, I'm about to be disturbed, I'd better leave. But not before filling my mouth with everything I see"_ lol
Its a fantastic model . I have the plain BR green one. 10 times better than the last Model Rail effort eith Heljan the dreaded PWM shunter. Cheap and nasty avoid. Would have watched the whole vid but music put me off sorry
Music comment noted, thank you.
@@barryhumphriesinc.broughto3098 The addition of "muzak" always makes me think that the video creator sees the potential audience as having the attention span of a goldfish. I jumped to various places on the timeline, no talking, so just muted it.
@@Demun1649 Yeah, I must admit to now thinking I had it too forward.
@@barryhumphriesinc.broughto3098 I always check for voice, and mute until the marker. I was a professional DJ for 16 years, and can't stand the sound of artificially generated muzak. I always prefer the sound of the trains moving to computer generated noise. It is like when I watch classic car racing and the music drowns out the sounds of the racing. Or watch a video about mountain climbing, and they play muzak over the top, I can't hear the wind, or the eagles, or other birds, the gentle noise of the sheep. Much nicer, unless the music is written especially for the soundtrack, maybe just oboe and harp. Quiet pastoral music, like used to be played on "The Victorian Kitchen Garden". I love your layout. I have 4 Class 08, and another 2 on the way. I have just ordered 2 x Class 20, and a 66, plus a couple of EMUs. I am painting a A4 Pacific, an Ivatt C1, 2 x Merchant Navy, and 2 different models of the Flying Scotsman, one in the blue and one in green. I love my T-gauge.
Great to see you enjoy your self and combine it with your other passion and youth sentiment. But what really grasp me, was the age you got your first set and still have it in the box. I'm similar like you, I was 5 years old when I made my first trip to the UK from Belgium, to visit my relatives in Nottingham. And my nephew had a set on the attic floor, and I spend almost my hole Holliday on that attic, where I got serious ill with the model train disease. A week after we returned back home, I got my first train set, a Märklin set, as British trains weren't available here. A bout 20 years later, I walked into a British model train shop, and there my first love for British trains came back, since I only collect British stuff. Only last year I sold all my Märklin stuff, only to buy more British stuff, but my first set still in box, that was to emotional to depart of. Enjoy the model railway illness, there is no cure for it, so you might better enjoy it😅 regards, Danny
Thank you for your comments.
It must be having a model railway is away that make great musicians thrive in there industry , like Neil Young , Roger Daltry , Rod Stewart . ,Jools Holland . It’s an art form .😊
I'm impressed by how much action you've packed into a small space. A lovely session.
Thank you
Prog Rock you say! A man after my own heart mind you I will have to wait for ELP or YES releases lol. Seems I started around the same age as you with a layout. But I fell away from it around late teens and only recently picked the hobby back up again. Wonderful little layout you have lots of detailing. Really enjoyed the running session.
Thank you
Being a model railway fan for years ! also Prog Rock fan ! favourite band King Crimson , always been way ahead of there time , got most of the albums apart from Red ! favourite one is Larks tounge in aspic pt 2 absolutely superb ! never knew they did the 00 gauge after King Crimson..... very nice
Have you speed the camera up or is the grandkid operating?
ha ha, yup 😂
What a lovely layout. The 'In the Court of the Crimson King' cover art will always haunt me!
Looks great with those liver and custard coaches
Not only was the holden real but just like Nellie and the 040 King George v , its dimensions are very close to the real thing! Check wiki for just about the only pic of Holdens no 101 experimental oil burning loco
Yes they run really well. Interesting link with the band you mention. Thank you.
Loved the video but do you mind if I ask what the background music you used? 😊👍
Hi, it's just a piece of generic background music from Microsoft Distant Ocean. Thank you for the comment.
