A prophet is someone who passes these words on to people. Let's use that definition. Then I see no difference in what John did. Because Jesus is God, His words come directly from God. You can even read the red letter Bible that only emphasizes these words that Jesus spoke. Not what Jesus did, but only the Words must then be the Injeel. Even then you will find that these words of Jesus contradict the Quran. John passes on His words, so he is a prophet.
