I loved this episode, but I was absolutely SCREAMING when Janine didn’t dance with Sherlock at the end!! 😤 You could tell he so wanted to and he started to walk towards her… and then she just went back to the doofus she was previously dancing with. 😑 WHY?!!!! They had such cute chemistry for the whole episode and then for him to walk off all alone, way before the reception ended, it just broke my heart 💔

Goddamn it. I love this episode so much. The final scene in particular reminds me again why I relate to Sherlock so intensely. Just that realization that, at the end of the day, all your friends will move on to new people. Sherlock makes eye contact with several familiar faces at the party, all of whom politely return a perfunctory smile, but no one invites him to join them. No one thinks about Sherlock first. Nobody thinks to dance with him. Really, Sherlock loves dancing, but nobody will get to see that side of him. And the line "You're hardly going to need me around now that you've got a real baby on the way." Sherlock plays it for laughs, but something about the way his grin fades afterward suggests that he wasn't entirely joking. He knows things will never be the same between the two of them again. John's love for Sherlock is wonderful to watch, but Sherlock's love for John is on another level. It is deeper, truer, more desperate. Has Sherlock ever before made friends, even in childhood? John is all he has. Sherlock leaves the party early. This was mainly because he was feeling socially isolated. An outsider at his best friend's wedding. But (though this could be me projecting) it may have also been in part due to some autism-related light & sound sensitivity. After all the effort Sherlock puts into the wedding: agonizing over writing the speech, composing a beautiful, unique waltz for John and Mary, seat assignments, even YouTubing how to fold the napkins (because he _cares_ about John, he really does)... in the end, it doesn't really matter. In the end, Sherlock will be alone. *_Always._*
