Can the cost of holidays during school holiday times be reduced?
Просмотров 63710 лет назад
Every parent knows that the cost of a holiday can almost quadruple the day schools break up. This makes it impossible for many families to have any family holidays. And now it is illegal to take children out of school during term time, even for one day. Travel company Travelzoo are launching a petition to call for Government to discuss workable ways to reduce these price hikes, and reverse this...

Does arguing in front of your children damage them?
Просмотров 96110 лет назад
Is arguing just a part of life, and it's important that children learn from their parents that arguing is OK and can be resolved, or is it always very damaging for children to hear their parents arguing? A great discussion on ITV's This Morning, with writer and broadcaster Liz Fraser and journalist Sally Jones.

Why do so many 35-45 year old women with no children feel criticised and guilty about their childless status? Did they selfishly choose to put their careers first and now regret it, or is it often a case of circumstance, without choice? And do we need to educate both women AND men more to be aware of their fertility curve, and to make sure they don't miss out on being able to have children?

Parenting author Liz Fraser debates the issue with a dog trainer, on ITV's Daybreak.

Schools must make reasonable adjustments for pupils who are not yet toilet trained, under the Equality Act 2010. Understand who should change nappies in school, how to work with parents and how to make sure staff are equipped to support these pupils.

just because someone isn't potty trained doesn't mean they should be denied an education

it is the parents job but its also the schools responsibility to have a school nurse, doctor there to deal with students health needs as there will be some people who have disability's like incontinence some who are potty trained and still have toileting issues teachers and psw shouldn't be toilet training or changing diapers/nappies school nurses doctors should be and if they dont want to do that then they shouldn't be a school nurse or doctor

I just listen to the arseholes next door to realise just how lazy and useless some parents are. All the the 2 kids do all day is shout, scream, bang things off the walls and slam doors while the useless piles of shit parents sit on there fat back sides and say nothing to there noisy bloody kids. I'm not saying it's easy but it needs to be done teaching kids simple does and don'ts.

It’s the parents that should potty train their kids, and any child still wearing nappies at 4 and 5 are humiliating the poor kid, shame on them... some parents are just too bloody lazy.

I'm outraged beyond words!! England, the fattest country in Europe, parents too lazy to toilet train their children, to read books to them. I don't accept the lame excuse as to their low income background. They can afford to buy nappies. Teachers should not be subjected to changing soiled nappies. I'm fed up with all the apologists

The BBC news today: parents being fined for their children's holidays is up 93% . Their children's education matters SO much even a day or two without being in school and without teachers teaching them, would be a catastrophe. UNLESS, of course, it's teachers striking or teachers encouraging them to go on demo's for climate change, then it doesn't matter a fu** The teachers at state schools are such total scumbags, so totally unworthy - but then we all know that.

Bottom line, if you're too lazy to teach your kids basic life skills, then don't bother becoming a parent. Teachers shouldn't have to clean up the mess that the parents leave behind. You are your child's first teacher. Teach them well before you let them go out into the world.

Parents should teach their children to use the potty /toilets and have table manners . But schools should also stop putting extra teaching burdens on parents when thats is their job There need to be a balance . My teachers did their job and taught all I needed in school ,and my parents taught me all I needed for home and social skills . But I have started to notice some Teachers spend more time gossiping than teaching and yes SOME parents should do more to teach their children better social skills some children find school a very unhappy place because some parents do not teach their children to tolarate diferences in others . Schools need to repect parents also ,to me schools are now broken, I am a confident parent and teacher that enjoy having my children being a parent is great , and I do not wish to mix school with my home life , my children are very happy at home and do all that is expected of them in school ,but find the behaviour of some of the other children and some teachers very uncomfortable more RESPECT for each other is needed .

What is wrong with taking children on holiday during Term-Time in special circumstances? I don't see what all the fuss is about damaging a child's education; I think that it's a load of rubbish! Sometimes people say are you going to do it and im like nooo because it doesnt sit well with me and it doesnt feel right. If a bloke was going to leave the country and if i wanted a future with him i would tell him i loved him and persuade him not to go but i wouldnt get down on one knee and propose. Im very set in my ways and to me that is the mans job and he has to go ring buying

i think what he is thinking its a soultion to a problem. He is saying this is whats happening so a fix it solution should be made, it is sad that its come to that but the point is it shouldnt be happening in the first place, but as it was talked about it is embarrssing for the child - you imagine you've gone to school and the teacher asks you to bend over and wipe you or take away your self discression rights. Id want my mom to help me with that kind of stuff as a young girl if i was a boy id think you aint touching me - i even go to houses with kids cos my friends have kids and as happy as they are to be around you - you pick one of them up without their consent they scream bloody murder and go suggling off to mommy and the mom will say to you dont worry its just cos she/he doesnt know you yet - now imagine a teacher someone who they've never met comes into your home or you go to school and they pick you up or take you to go toilet train - they arent going to like it. Their parents are letting the side down - you dont know how to do it you say? Find out - you owe it to your child to do that and you can talk to friends family - your mom or your dad or someone you know who has children, or has done it before to be able to help you do that - saying you dont know is a cop out.

  • @TheUserUndefined

What a load of bull. "leaving any time of year is oh so damaging!" BULLSHIT! Seriously, from year 1 all the way to year 10, that is simply not true, especially if you have the student revise for an hour a day during the holiday (this should only be necessary in year 10). In year 11 onwards it's different, but even in year 11, if the exams are at the other end of the year, then it's still okay to go on holiday. Only in year 12 (AS level) is there no room for holiday since the workload is FAST PACED (unlike GCSEs). In GCSEs you literally go through the same thing several times before the exams, espeically if they're linear based exams.

I live on the IOW and see school parties, on the beach, walking in the country, dancing at the hotel disco, if this IS so educationally crippling why do so many schools organise these, in term time trips. YES to baby-led weaning..no to spoonfeeding. i dont agree with there comments about obesity..the reason blws are less likely is be obese is because a baby will stop eating when its not hungary so there tum isnt likely to be stretched were as a puree feed baby has to eat more because purees are less filling than the whole food and parent chooses when to finish feeding the child resulting in over streached tum and a baby that needs more food to fill its self up because the tum keeps stretching .

There is a definite difference between abusive smacking and responsible smacking. Sometimes, an action which would be undoubtedly abusive in one situation can be completely the opposite in another. If someone sliced off your little finger, would the be an act of abuse? Yes. But what if the reason for that action was to save the entire hand? Not nearly as straight forward to judge. It needs to be considered, in equal measure, how abusive non-action can be. Situations are never just black & white.

This metro-sexual sexist is a disgrace to men everywhere. As a father I couldn't agree more with you, Liz. If I want to see 'that sort of thing' I know where to go to get it. This is not the sort of thing to have on general display. The lads' mags are a first step and I'd happily welcome non-sexual front covers to all of the newspapers. It must have been frustrating to have only had 2 mins' worth of discussion, but in my opinion, you easily dismissed his whiny, poorly thought out arguments.
