    Why do we ignore the -2x? So, if the function is x³ - 5x² + 4x + 24, it is not (x - 4)(x + 2)(x - 3)

      Hi. This is because of the relationship between the roots of a cubic function, which I plan to discuss in my next video. This method is always applicable when the roots of a cubic equation are all real numbers. Therefore, the function you provided has factors with complex roots. However, I didn't emphasize this point in the short video because questions involving functions with factors having real and complex coefficients are usually presented differently. For example, they might ask students to prove that something is a factor and then use long division or another method to completely factorize the function. Thanks for watching.
