See this is one where the twist in Act II isn't quite so obvious because the Lover's voice isn't as recognisable as on the Broadway soundtrack or film.
didn’t read the title properly and was expecting to hear helene yorke lmao i was so confused
she quite literally sounds like a british Melissa Bell Chait when singing
Couldn't touch Kristin Chenoweth. NOT EVEN if she tried.
Her and Kerry Ellis were such an amazing duo 🥰😢

one of the greatest Glinda's ever
My school is doing this now so i am watching it and i love it and it is really catchy
Absolutely loved Helen as Glinda. It was the first time I really felt for her character. She was hilarious! Brilliant!!! Haven't seen a funnier Glinda (in my opinion) since!
Dallimore's version sucks!
no
I'm still confused as to wether or not the Young Wizard making out with Elphaba's Mom intentionally turned his kid green or if that was only a bad coincidence
David Cain it's because she drank the green Elixar (which is a drink that is in the Wizard's palace)
No it is Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel
HenryGaming365 no not in this video idina and kristin were original Broadway cast, this is west end cast😊❤️
arleen123100 - Um Ok?
HenryGaming365 sorry, I thought you meant that you thought kristin and idina were in this video but they are not as this is west end cast.😊
The best G(a)linda to see the West End!
This recording is from the uk tour 2001 and the singer is Samantha Fawcett Young (playing mrs Potts) however Annalene was Belle in this production but shes not singing this song
she also was in the phantom of the opera search her she is awesome !!! her and tam mutu !!!!! sing title song
Do you have a clip of Helen singing popular?
She's not British, she's Australian with a strong Australian accent, that's why it sounds forced.
Was it you that edited the "Outlive a lie"?
In fact the ability for a role to be inhabited over the years by many different people, and interpreted differently, is part of what makes theater ALIVE and wonderful, and is the difference between theater and film. I agree, if they were all Kristin, not that she isn't wonderful, it would be boring! Also, I actually prefer Annalene Beechey, at least in this recording, because you can understand her lyrics better. In general sopranos aren't great for theater, too high to understand.
I love Julie! She's amazing :D xxx
I admit I used to hate Helen's portrayal of Glinda, but I've grown to like it! I think she didn't follow the crowd and had some originality. Always to be respected!
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THE BALD HEADED GUY'S VOICE!!!!!!
she is fine but her accent is so well forced
right she sings well but why not more natural
It's a British accent because it's in Britain. And we like our accent...... It doesn't always sound this.... um.... forced? It sounds a bit more natural on later Glindas but my point is, what's the problem with our accent? haha
she's Australian if I recall, so that's why it sounds "forced"
Personally I like it in British but that's just my preference. It doesn't actually make much difference.
everyone who says helan dalimore is bad, she can't be that bad becuase she was in the show in the first place!
2:44-3:45 is my FAVORITE part!!!
bigmigs94 same!
02:44 03:45
The best Elphaba is Willemijn :))
She sucks! British accent, American, WHO CARES? She wasn't nearly as good as Louise Dearman is now. AND, FYI @Mralltheworlds a stage, L. Frank Baum was an AMERICAN writer! Gregory MacGuire was an AMERICAN writer, who only coincidentally happened to be residing in London when he was writing the novel that the musical would eventually be based on. It's an innately American creation.
do you have the full show up for trade????
do you have the whole show to upload in parts?
Is that Sarah asking "why does Wickedness happen?" cos it sounds like rather like her!
i love this!! how could anyone hate this?? she has a beautiful voice
I’m a fully trained opera singer
@AmyyLovett london wise, Dianne or Louise dearman. :)
her "the wicked die alone" is so flat and boring! Louise Dearman is the only one who can really pull that off! It's amazing!
It's not galinda...it's gaaaarlinda...just letting you know
@tillyboos Yes, but this isnt the 'Wizard Of Oz', this is Wicked - its a different interpretation of Oz altogether and actually has little basis on the film; 'Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West' was written as a prequel/sequal to the original L. Frank Baulm novel 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' and that is what Wicked the Musical is based on. And anyway, how says that people in Oz have an American Accent? For all we know they could speak 'Ozian' :P
I know, I've read the novel MULTIPLE times and I've seen Wicked so many times so I'm well-versed. Thanks.
@simzproductionz thats because at this point in the show she is 'Glinda the Good' not 'Galinda the Teen Queen', when saw her she was fab, and she was amazing as Cinderella in Into the Woods last summer.
I love posh ditzy Glinda - my Glinda was always Dianne Pilkington.
Yeah she's obviously australian lmao the accent is incredibly fake, they offered her the role of glinda when it opened in australia but she turned it down and did shakespeare in London x
@inlovewithJLT You're right...she did a wonderful job and she deserves credit for it :D I love her voice!
theres a girl singing in the ensemble that i dont like , it might just be me but her voice or the pitch doesnt fit in with the other ensemble
she tries too hard I think, sorry to say.
@107e5matthew101 She's great! I like the link that's she's the only member of the original UK cast left. She does a good interpretation of how Dianne played Glinda too, which I enjoy. :o)
@SMSProductions1 Oh, that's what I thought, haha- Wiki says that Coloratura's typically sing a lot of runs and leaps...so I guess they sound more dramatical than lyrical soprano's :D
@dementieva12 She's my fav Glinda next to Kristin...so I really don't think she needs to be a coloratura...and Christine isn't supposed to be one too, actually...I actually prefer the sound of most lyrical soprano's....but I don't really know the difference between the two in detail, if you could explain it to me, feel free to :D
this is mrs potts at the liverpool empire uk in 2001/02 Annalene was Belle in this production Samantha Fawcett Young is recorded here without her permision i might add but Sams not bothered cos it sounds good
This is so wonderfull - it almost makes me cry when I sing along - seriously. It's beautiful
What date Annalene start and stop being glinda ? was she just an understudy? Because i thought helen was the only one who prefromed with idina in london?
A very late reply, she was Helen's standby so Helen was still Glinda at this point but was off at this performance possibly due to illness, this was one of Idina's first performances back after nearly a week of being off sick
It sounds like an other orchestration, with an hard beat in it. Can someone tell me more about it?
