Still want to do a lot to it, but she runs and drives and I can still use it as a truck. She won’t win a burnout contest. But she will be steady and reliable with that six cylinder and still sound like an old tractor.

Good day of building. Thankful to have some time to get some stuff done. My broken hand could be a blessing in disguise lol

Broke my hand so I haven’t been doing that much work, but I’m healing now. So now I can do some stuff. Put the bed on. Now jamming the front sheet metal and I’ll start building the front end.

She drives. Not good, but she drives! Need an alignment. Got to get the rest of the sheet metal on it so she’s at weight. Then the Exaust shop. But still so much to do between now and then.

Damn, I’m gonna have to cut into the floor. Didn’t think it would have to, but I gotta give a little driveline clearance.
C10 update.

This was yesterday. So the updates are a little out of order. This was the first prime. After laying down some epoxy primer and then heavy build primer on top of that.

Bodywork on the cab is done starting primer tomorrow. Cannot believe how much freaking rust was in this thing. Need to Get the cab back on the truck and get the truck running.

We’re going to try the poppies Pino on that old green truck to see how it looks. It’s all original and it actually drives pretty good
I like it. I also like the truck next to it. I'm doing a 49 on S-10 frame with LS.
What body are you putting on it
Like em both!!!
So what are you going to do with the box as far as color ? Fake patina?
I’m thinking about it. But I’m not sure yet.
@@chicobooze1 I've got a novel idea, strip and repaint the whole truck.🤣🤣🤣
Nice job like the look and the 6 banger 👍
Thanks 👍 appreciate the comment. It’s slower than molasses, but it sounds cool.
That looks good as hell bro!
Chop looks good.
Thank you
I guess you ended up not needing to brace the body? I have a 67 I am about to convert but the previous owner jacked it up and level it and cut the floor out and installed subframe connectors and then never finished it. It's been back down on all four and sitting for awhile so I was worried I may need to get it on a jig in case it flexed, but part of me wonders if the roof, rockers, and subframe connectors are good enough to have kept it in shape (roof is in really good condition too so it's sturdy). Did any issues ever arise from it not being braced? Your completed car looks absolutely phenomenal!
Great question. The first thing I would do is get the frame measurements off of the Internet. And just take some cursory measurements as best you can to see if it’s in the right place or at least in the right vicinity, without the complete body and it is possible to twist it with the floor out of it ,And I would suggest investing in a tram gauge. You can usually get this fairly reasonably off the Internet. It’s just a measurement device. Getting back to the issue of bracing For me, there’s a couple schools of thought The first one is the restoration guys will tell you to brace the body . In some cases, this helps because if you absolutely need to hold A part in a certain position, this works well for that . However, my background is in collision repair. And restoration. So I prefer to leave it unbraced. Just because parts float and they’re easier to put in the right position. Now you gotta remember these cars that we are rebuilding these days are all going to be repaired with aftermarket parts They don’t fit like factory and you’ll have the devils time trying to get them to fit correctly when they just won’t. So I preferred to move parts around to get the best possible fit. It’s a compromise. Because I spent my whole career moving metal that has been bent and crashed so it doesn’t bother me. But for the important parts it’s critical to have correct measurements and things being the right position , Particularly frames and suspension mounting points. This will adversely affect cars handling if they’re not right. But for upper sheet metal. I always go for the best possible fit, and compromise and work with that. I hope this answers your question.
e brake don't work in reverse👍
Thank you I appreciate that
Looking Good!
Nice !!!👍👍
What a damn beautiful 55……You did a gorgeous job on this ride…..I hate like hell when people hack these cars up……I love it ……Great job man.
Thank you so much. I appreciate the compliment.
Great Looking . But a six !! Why? Even though I had made a comment in an earlier video when you had just unpacked those wheels, I was thinking I'm liking them now.😂
@@jsh3234 I drove it around for about a year with that set up. Old granny gear low four-speed six cylinder I like it. It drives like an old tractor. And I’ve seen a few recent car shows that The old sixes are starting to show back up.
@@chicobooze1 I guess what ever floats your boat. 🤣👍
Amen. Sometimes I’m looking for the next project while I have two or three going. Lol.
Yes , I feel same way love hate relationship . Start a project feeling what have I done but when it's finished your looking for the next project.
And yes, next step is epoxy primer followed by a heavy build primer. I got a couple more videos. I’m gonna try and download
Except the roof area I did go straight to metal with my filler
I’m old-school. For years we put filler right to metal. Never had any issues with it this time I actually put down epoxy primer, and did my body work over top of it. But you can go either way. Are used to use Dupont etching primer. And then spray primer over that. But you can use epoxy in the same manner.
So what's the next step epoxy primer? Had you sprayed a etching primer before you did that skim coating of filler? Although from what I'm seeing, it looks as though you had body worked over bare metal.
ANY UPDATES? DID YOU SELL IT? IF SO WAS IT WORTH IT TO WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT?
Yes, I sold it to a friend of mine. His wife fell in love with it, and she’s totally happy with the car. And she’ll probably never sell it, I did all right on it. I made all my money back and made enough off of it to make it worth my while. And it was just a fun project at some point, but I really want to do is either a 69 fastback conversion or I got this crazy idea about converting a 67 cougar into a fastback. But I have, a full schedule at work. And probably about five or six other projects that I should be getting on. Just don’t have the time.
@@chicobooze1 that’s awesome. Sounds a little like me lol. Keep your videos coming!! You do really good work!!!
Thank you for the compliment I really appreciate it
I was thinking the same thing and if I get tired of the chrome, I’m going to paint them matte black with that plastic coating. That way I can have the best of both worlds. If I get bored with the chrome, I’ll just flat block it and then when I get bored with that I’ll peel them. Thank you for the compliment
So smoothie chromies with smooth caps. Would not have been my choice. I like smoothie painted wheels the best. Well that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.😜 Love your builds though.
Thankyou!!!!!!!
I had back in late 60s 53 Chevy 2 door hard top black knee deep paint no rust ever rolled and pleated I fiberglass black and white Smokey interior 327 engine nice cam and lifters shaved 4 speed with 456 positive traction . Sure wish I had it back . Enjoying your work and post .
Thank you appreciate it
Looking good!
Your wife is a blast! I think she has your number. lol.
Looks Great ! Have Many fun cruize days.
Lets get this channel over 1000 subs!
Big job! I tried it with a 51, but half way through, changed plans and ended up making it a 4" chopped 2 door convertible. Still looked insane.Good luck👍
In manufacturing this is called the “stack height”. If every supplier goes to the opposite ends of the allowed (+/-) tolerance nothing will fit.
So true
Nice gem!
Just 75-76 had the cross over 77 was first year of true left side shift
Dude where do I buy this drum?
It would be just as easy to turn it back to stock, And it probably never will rust out again, I was just fiddling with the idea of doing something stronger. The Chevy I have to get back on. I want to get that thing on the road this year at least driving, just been too damn busy and then I get on the side projects, and split my time. But I will get back on it. I just keep having these really good deals fall in my lap lol
I see no reason to not just repair it back to original. For one it will never rust out again like that in your lifetime, mainly for two reasons, you probably won't be driving it in the snow and salt and the other one you probably won't keep it that long. By the way, whats happening to your Chevy custom on the vette chassis?
Thank you
I've owned 13 El-Caminos, I bought a 72 just like that, but it was green in color, it had a bad transmission, and the front in was worn out. Exhaust was rusted out. It had the snap on cover over the bed, great interior. I paid $700.00, turned out to be a great "ELLIE" after the repairs. Great find there, brought back memories, I too winched it out a garage.
Did it happen to be Spring Green poly code 36, like mine? Or one of the darker greens like Elkhart Green or Sequoia Green poly?
Thank you for your comments.
Nice 👍
What hinges did you use for the doors?
Thanks great idea should I run the power line straight to the battery??
❤
Awesome videos man I'm binging them all. Buying all the parts for this conversion as we speak. Already have the outer sheet metal bits included quarter panels. Just need the structure
Thank you I really appreciate that. Make sure you get a rear glass. Because you’re going to need that in order to set the quarter panels. That’s really important. Set the glass the rubber and the moldings. Then Tack your pieces in the place.
