Elektron Digitakt II Jam

Using the Digitakt for drums and triggering slices from a sample and the new Kaleidoloop from critter and guitari for that slowed down warbly lead, playing a bit of guitar on top for a quick jam. Ooohh this is a fun one! Love the piano parts
Thanks for your support as always! :)
This is awesome! So glad I have found your music.
Thanks for checking out my music and for the support!
Hey, this is really cool! Made me smile while listening. Keep up the good work!
Glad you liked it, thanks for the kind words!
Wow! Where are these awesome piano samples from?
I recorded the piano parts using Arturia Piano V3 and sampled into the M8. Thanks for commenting and watching!
@@viennabonaparte Have you recorded the whole piano part as one sample, or note by note?
@@NotOnlyVideoGuy For this one I recorded in the part, I usually use multisamples that I recorded in note by note. There is a function in the M8 where you can record in a long sample of a piano/whatever note by note and then you can slice it to the required note. Not sure if I explained that well :)
I've listened to this numerous times today and it's easily my favorite from what I've heard on this channel so far! Absolute premium gold. I first heard of the OP-1 last week and seeing two in action is awesome. I'm really curious how this compares to something like Maschine, though. I've never learned Maschine beyond the absolute basics and most of the time I do more with clicking my mouse in the Maschine software than I do dabbling with the controls of the device itself. So I'm considering whether I commit to learning the device more (which has always felt like a slog) or get into devices that likely have a more intuitive or simple learning curve and work flow. I wasn't looking into the OP-1 in twrms of potentially buying one vut after seeing this video, it's all about having two on me at all times. Now I iust need to budget for an extra 5K+ ha Also, what exactly is Synplant? I'm assuming presets of some sort were used ror this piece? Thanks again!
Thanks for the kind words! Thanks for all the support and comments. These are the first Gen OP's, still expensive but good deals can be had if you can find them. I love them but they have quirks. I remember this taking a long time to prepare because I was hearing random pops at the loop end/start points. Sampling in stuff can be a nightmare sometimes, there is definately easier and cheaper ways to perform. Synplant is a program that recreates any synth sound, really powerful algorithms power it, but results vary. Worth checking out if you like FM synthesis and would like to create patches etc
I wonder if the more recent iteration(s) of the OP-1s have dealt with some of these things or if they all perform relatively the same. In any event, I have been booting up Maschine the last two nights - first time in ages and it's great getting back to musical creativity. I've felt very inspired to post my ideas on RUclips on a new account since this one is a little too dedicated.
@@Shmuptopia I think the same quirks are present on the new op1's too, but not too sure. Let me know when you post them, interested in seeing how the maschine works!
@@viennabonaparteThanks for all of the responses and information. I'll let you know when I get a channel set up and some initial uploads. Given my basic understanding, nothing will be too advanced or even do justice to Maschine's capabilities.
From what I can tell, you've grown your channel half way to 1K by simply sharing tidbits of your music. This is wild and I think if you were ever inclined to grow things further and branch out, you would easily pull in a much larger audience who would really appreciate your music and sounds. have you ever considered putting together basic tutorials for some of your devices? Or even things like your favorite machines? It would be fascinating to hear given the wide range of products you have at your disposal. Do you have any experience with Maschine by Native Instruments?
Thanks for the tips! I’ve done a few basic tutorial vids alright on the m8 and some pedal/vst demos. They never seem to do to well but they are very basic. I will have a think on some vid ideas and might put a good one together. I never used a maschine, but I like NI stuff, I have a few vsts from them.
@@viennabonaparteIt could be due to the videos having a more basic approach. If they were also only text on screen, that might factor in as well. I don't think you'd need to do anything as committed as actually being on camera but being able to hear a voice goes a long way. As a viewer, it's a way in which to better connect with the person providing the information. Just some thoughts. Also, I think I see a Ganz cube there. Have you ever delved into any abstract cubes? I have some pretty wild ones over here, though these days I don't use them. In any event, thank you for all of your responses.
@@Shmuptopia Thanks for the information, yea i agree with what you are saying. Yea, thats a Gan, have a 11/12/13, i also have a 2x2 but none of the cooler cubes :) trying to get quicker at cubing but still just a fun thing to do to, I'd love to get to 30 seconds consistently but I dont do it consistently enough.
Consistently will certainly come with regular practice. I never got too into speed cubing but I remember it didn't take long to hit just a little over 40sec for 3x3. I think it was in the first week of having it. I never pushed beyond that, though and these days, I barely recall the algorithms. I can muscle memory solve 2x2 but it's been ages since I was deeply invested in cubing. Thanks again.@@viennabonaparte
Really enjoyed the light, laid back feel of this one. Also reminds me of Stardew Valley slightly. By the way, how do you record these? The audio sounds almost too clean and crisp to be a simple matter of your camera mic picking it up, so are you recording it on a computer and syncing the footage with the audio after? Great setup as always.
Thanks for commenting on my vids and checking them out! It does depend, in general I record them into ableton, I dont use post production though as i like hearing the raw sound of each machine i use. In this vid I'm using stock bass drum, snare and HH that are included with the Digtakt. I sampled in some recordings I had into the digi and arranged on the digitakt for a live song. I'm glad you liked it!
I'm always very interested seeing books in the background of pictures or videos. I have Uzumaki as well. Great tune!
Love Junji Itos stuff!
@@viennabonaparteI'd like to read Stitches at some point - a collab Junji did with Hirokatsu Kihara.
@@Shmuptopia Looks interesting, I'll have to check it out!
This is wild! I didn't realize you could use the Analogue Pocket for this sort of thing. I've heard of LSDJ before because my buddy recommends it highly. What exactly do you need to obtain to get LSDJ working on the AP? Any help or instruction would be greatly appreciated.
I luckily enough have a cart with the original program on it but I know you can emulate it using roms on the AP. @Techcravers has a walkthrough guide, he explains it mush better than I could :)
@@viennabonaparteThanks! I'll look into that!
Absolutely love this!
Thanks for the kind words of support, it means a lot!
@@viennabonaparte No problem! It's got such a laid back vibe to it - like you're just waking up on a warm summer day in the '90s and daydreaming about all of the exciting adventures you can get up to. By the way, what kind of filter are you using for this video? It looks super cool. I'm also curious where you got the coloured key caps? I understand that the M8 uses Kailh Choc low-profile switches, so I'm assuming PBT caps are what's on there but I want to be sure I order the proper ones when I get around to customizing mine. Thanks again! I'd love to hear more, my friend.
@@Shmuptopia Thats a really nice review, thanks! I think the filter is a stock filter you can choose for youtube shorts. I got the keycaps from splitkb.com, you are correct, look for Choc low profile keycaps. They are fairly straight forward to fit, if I can do it anyone can lol!

Awesome. Can you make some jungle/D&B on the Analogue Pocket?
I could try! Not sure how it would sound though!
I honestly think the sound from polyend devices is so complete that it really can make pro sounding tracks without a DAW. Other devices sound like they are from the device. This sounds like it came from ableton.
Its a beautiful sounding machine, really excellent sampler.
This was a nice change from the usual Digitakt demos I've been seeing. Good work. Also, I can't help but notice, is that a Traveler's Notebook in the upper right?

Loveee the tone you're getting out of the pedal!
Is the piano a base preset?
No it’s a multi sampled instrument that played over slices in the sample instrument engine.
Wow!! So cool!! Hey:::how do you get a perfect loop w drum loop let’s say?? Just practice? Or is there a better way? Thx. Just starting w chomps.
Thanks for the kind words! I’ve got the drums coming from the op1 so I sync’d it by ear to the chompi. It took a bit of time alright, the chompi can be a bit strange when making loops when it comes to timing. There is a way to load your loop to the sd card of the chompi to make it easier but I like to do it by ear.
