Interesting collection. Not many early R8 216 GTi on the road. Proper 'gingicators' too. The Omega has aged well in the looks department. Last of the proper Vauxhalls.
The digital clock can be persuaded to display properly by removing it and removing the back and ensuring the striped rubber LCD contact strips are pressed tighter. Each segment of the strip controls a segment on the display. Before I sorned my GTi for repairs, I used to daily it on a 76 mile round trip commute.
216 gti, crx engine.👍
Good engine
That omega 👌🏾
Thanks
Two of my school teachers had red 216's, one was a GTi and I did think that they were kind of cool, even knowing they were not the best GTi's around. These days, they're a proper "oh wow" sight. Same with the old 80's Vauxhall Nova. Absolute sheds in the day, pretty cool to see now. Wonder if the AA and RAC were on standby to cope with the gathering of BL cars...
Yep, all these types of cars were always slept on, just used and abused, but like anything, once a decent period of time passes by, then when something like my 216, or a Nova, Corsa B GSI etc, people are like "ohhhh yeahhhh I forgot about them" then all of a sudden they are cool Haha I think you may have been right 😂 luckily for me I am Honda drivetrain, so I cheat the BL system 😆
Another GTi owner here.
Rover GTi GSi and Coupe club Facebook group brought me here 👍
Nice one, thanks for the watch bud
Lawrence i didnt know you lifted!?!? Looking big fella 👌
Yeah I started training about 2 months ago, thanks mate 😉
To be honest, 305bhp and lots of happy V8 noises are more than enough. My take is this: The only person you car needs to impress is you. If it gives that "wow that's mine" smile, then it's perfect. Who cares if it's 20 years old and "not that powerful".
Absolutely, I certainly don't care what people think, that's why I own 5 different makes of cars, none of which are today's 400hp, DSG, quarter mile in 12 seconds level of fast, they just make me happy Side note, the CLK rips the clock no problem, I've probably done it 25 times, and it never fails to impress how easy it does it
It's very different to talk about driving a legendary road to actually doing it with your own car. If I want to absolutely spank it, I'll do a track day or go Go-Karting. When it comes to my own car, on actual public roads with hazards and speed cameras and other people, you have to temper the speed to make it all enjoyable. Speed alone does not equal fun, it's the experience and I think you show that perfectly.
I couldn't have worded it better, I love speed, as you can probably tell from my early videos and cars, but driving at a gazillion mph isn't all that fun, I can take my Rover out for a drive for an entire day and not drive over 50-60mph, if I am in the right mood and good surroundings, I don't feel the need to, thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it
I absolutely love this car. I'd paint the cage though sadly as it will keep doing this over and over otherwise.
Thank you, much appreciated, yeah I think you are right, I don't ideally want to keep on top of this each year
Hey Lawrence ...... I really enjoyed this video with the mix of 'Road Run' and 'Touring' the beautiful Welsh Hills of North Wales and Shropshire borders! Great to see you enjoying your Motorcars in your videos Also very entertaining when you were 'resting up!'... You would also do well for all the advertising for the 'Wesh Tourist Board!' Looking forward to the next Video! X
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, I wasn't too sure if I was actually going to make it or not, hard to cram 2 days of footage into 20 minutes of video, more coming along soon
What a roads❤ Its like i watch classic top gear.
Old Top gear always used this area to film in
I to have a mv6 omega x reg love it to bits as well like spending time keeping it in good condition same colour as yours
Ah nice, I love this colour, personally I think it's the best colour they came in, can't be many left now, don't sell it!
Thats too nice to sit under a tarp..😢
Fear not, it'll be back on the road very soon, no more sitting around, also for peace of mind, the cover is fully insulated and waterproof

@@L.r.e_motorsport What is the spec of your front suspension? Thanks for nice video! Your omega is awesome!
@@boristheblade2791 the car is on BC coilovers, I can't remember the spring rates, thanks very much
I'd like to see a Cadillac Catera built like this one. Everybody hates them here in the US.
Yes the Catera was NOT welcomed with open arms in the US, problem was it was so not a Cadillac, and that's because it wasn't lol, had they sold it as a different brand, then maybe it might not have done too badly, but yeah, as you know, they really aren't a bad car
Tit tit tit amus titamus 😂😂😂😂 BTW great vid 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hahaha, bloody word, can never remember it 😆, glad you enjoyed it 💪🏻
Very nice to see that there are still some people left who love their Omega. I have my current Omega B (3.0 DTI, 620 Nm, 265 hp, Omega V8 diff with 50 % LSD, Vectra C OPC brakes) since 2015, so 9 years. Driving it only in the summer months since 2017. And I still have that special feeling when I get in the car and start the straight six engine. The look of the facelift Omega B is also still timeless I think. Looking forward to see more videos with it. Cheers from Germany, Thomas
Hi Thomas, I'm glad you enjoyed the video, sounds like you got a nice one, you have a 3.0 straight six diesel? I totally agree, the facelift Omega is definitely timeless, even though I buy other cars, because I do like other stuff, I will NEVER sell the Omega, I think I will be buried in it haha.
@@L.r.e_motorsport Yes, the base model was the "2.5 DTI" (2.5 liter straight six BMW M57 from E39 525d) which was sadly never available in the UK since they had problems fitting the steering rack on RHD. So the old 2.5 TD (BMW M51, also straight six) was the only one the UK market got. In 2016 I swapped the 2.5 liter for the 3 liter from the E39 530d (193 hp or 190 bhp in the UK) which is a very tuneable and bulletproof engine. I have customers with over 800 Nm (~ 600 ft-lbs) and 350 hp on this engine. The torque is insane. 😅 I can't imagine selling the Omega, I had so many memories with that car, it would be like cutting off my arm. Last year it got 20 years old, so it is called a Youngtimer here, still another 10 years until it officially gets a Oldtimer. Hard to imagine with that still very modern look. 😁
Wow, damn, 350hp diesel with that torque, in an Omega jeez, fair play haha, that is impressive, where are you from? My dream is to V8 swap it in the future, can't beat a V8
@@L.r.e_motorsport I'm from Germany and yes, a V8 is a V8. Music for the ears. 😁
@@edc15de Absolutely!! ah nice, where from? I spent many years back and forth to Germany
Thought I'd recognised the Omega and yourself! I'm positive we met at rich's fabrications having the cage fitted and I subscribed after our chat 👍 Good to see progress, I'd say paint the cage gold to match the wheels.
Oh really, are you still local to the area? If you ever see me about, come and say hello for sure, gold is definitely an option, once I have polished it, I will make my mind up then.
agree gold with British Green is classic
Yes still local, grove/wantage area 👍 Will definitely give you flash/chat if i see any of your vehicles about. I'm sure I've seen the Rover out and about which you cannot miss!
@@alanr3873 oh right, well most likely will see each other then, yeah probably is me, as there are only 17 registered on the road, I doubt there is another 3 door red GTI around our area, and if there is, I want to know who he is 😂
Nice omega, thanks for video :)
Thank you, thanks for watching
what was your best time on Nurburgring? 😜

Hello. Thanks for video. Did you install light Flywheel? Because stock is 19kg
Thanks for the watch, no that is something I still need to do

I had omega 1995 and owned cadillac catera once. What a great memories your channel brings me back. Thank you for that, and lookint forward to your next video.
Hi, do you maybe have a source of such flywheels for Omega V6?
@@zigmasssthanks for watching, I am happy you enjoyed it, I will be posting other videos as well as the Omega, I have a variety of cars, but the Omega will be making a few appearances this year
good to see a job on a car as it really is. not like on a car that has been cleaned, all screws and bolts have been loosened beforehand. Where you mess around on the ground with tools that ordinary people use. All that is missing here is the rain 😊
Haha yes, definitely just an average guy who is NOT a mechanic, but not too bad with a spanner, UK without the rain, I couldn't believe it! 😂 thanks for watching!
Still waiting for Omega 😂 Btw Elite means 3.2?
Omega will come don't worry, no Elite is the trim level, this is an Izuzu 3.0V6 Diesel, extremely rare now
Yes Son.... your Mother IS watching... and 'learning' (about swapping springs!) as it happens.... lol 😊
Absolutely love this car, love to cruise on highways with it. Does sport consume more on gas?
Ah me too, I could drive this car for 500 miles on a highway no problem, it wants to do that, to be honest I don't think it makes a huge difference in sport mode, I drive in sport mode constantly
When will you make Omega review?❤ Btw why Mersedes? Don't you like BMW?😮
The Omega review will come, just needs a little work, and better weather Because BMW does not offer a better V8 coupe with this performance, price and looks
There is no way I'd touch a V8 6-Series for the money paid for the CLK, in fact double or even triple that amount would still risk ending up with a lemon. And I say that as someone who owns a 6-Series!
@@deaks25 yeah they really aren't good, I actually like a 6 series (LOVE the v10 m6) but they seriously don't match up against a V8 CLK variant
@@L.r.e_motorsport I own a 650i and it's no slouch, and an excellent GT, but a good one is a lot more than £1900, heck even bad ones are more than £1900 and will just be money pits.
Great watch! Look forward to more videos.
Thank you, I'm happy you enjoyed it
v8 is all we need👍👍👍
Absolutely!

Wieviel ps hat dein omega? Und hast du instagram ?

Pretty sure I saw this car at lydden hill a few years ago, looked nice in person. Do you still race it much?
Hi there, it’s never actually entered at Lydden Hill before, and no not really, it done it’s last main stint in summer of 2021, where it spent months out in Germany, getting many hard laps put on it, it then had track time back in the UK in the October of 21, and since then, it hasn’t moved unfortunately, 2 years already almost
manual?? What box is in it?
It’s from a 2.5V6 Omega
@@L.r.e_motorsport i didnt know they built the 2.5 with manual

Hello. We all waiting for your new videos, your Omega is perfect. BTW what can you suggest to modify if i bought 3.0 Omega? Chip, exhaust already installed. I have 3.7 LSD, should i install 3.9? Thanks
Hi there, I know, I am very sorry, last year I done 40 laps of the Nurburgring in the Omega, and all of the footage was deleted by accident, unfortunately I don’t know when I use the car again on track, I have thought about making a review video on the car, not sure if anyone would be interested in that? The 3.7 is still a good modification, try and get as much weight out as possible, coilovers is a must, I have custom 11J wheels, as I wanted as much grip as I could get
@@L.r.e_motorsport Thanks a lot for answering me. Sure it would be great to see review👍
hi sir, i was on the ring with my astra g, but now i looking for an omega b2 (omega C) with a V6 engine. where i live there are not so many v6, but there are usually bulit by an automatic gearbox, unfortunately manual is really rare. the automatic gearbox is make the car worst or its not too bad? ps: the car in the vid have a crazy sound 😈
Hi, yes the automatic in this year of Opel really is not good, I would never use auto on track, unless it was a newer car Thank you, in person it is so so loud, sounds crazy
NICE driving!!
I was foreward-bent. I would love that car. Nice driving mister.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video
Nice driving skills. Also have Omega. 3.2 V6 to be specific. She is sleeping under blanket in the garage right now. Today i just turn her on to just warm up engine :P

Haha thank you very much, yeahhh you just got to send it, she loves it!
You should take it to Misha Charoudin channel. I wonder what he would say.
He has done a walk around on it before in one of his videos like 3 years ago, but I wasn’t there, I doubt he would be interested now
@@L.r.e_motorsport He does drive older cars too, I would ask him. Could be a cool video! Can you help me with couple of things with Omega... Would you be to send me an e-mail with your omega alignment and tracking details? I have problem with front tires wearing on the inside when driving fast in the corners. I would be grateful
@@bax442 tbh, my alignment probably won’t suit your car as I am running max camber front and rear, I’m also on the BC coilovers with custom spring rates, my car also wears very bad on the inside, but that is due to the 3 degrees of Camber on the front of my car, I’d say you are also just running a lot of Camber
@@L.r.e_motorsport negative or positive 3 degrees? I guess that it's just single wishbone suspension for us. I have seen omega with monaro suspension rear and front on eBay. Apartament it just fits
@@bax442 negative 3 degrees on the front I’m running, yeah, there isn’t really much to do about it, I used to drive with the OEM wheels on the front, with cheap tyres, so I didn’t scrub the Semi Slicks
