I found Peter Beards body April 11 2000. I also just finished the Book WILD by Graham Boynton its a book about Peter Beards life. The book and stories like the above video put this most talented man's life into perspective. The book was amazing and I understand now how maybe Peters's last walk in the bush happened. Read the book . I found it Pretty Incredible. I finished the book in a tree stand where I know Peter walked his last walk in the bushy March 2000. I'm a bow hunter and i hunt the property across the street from Peters's property. RIP Peter

Jim is right about the Kenyan context and working from loss. Kenya’s history as a (previous) settler colony with art traditions that were policed, banned, made taboo and “polished” during colonialism and anti-history postcolonial government means there isn’t much to look back at and draw from. We all have to reimagine or reinvent from spaces of unbelonging and loss.
