Tremec TKX 5-Speed 66 GTO First Drive
Finished the install of the Tremec TKX and took the 66 on a test drive. Video quality is pretty poor because of the old Sony on a tripod

Beretta Tomcat Grip Removal Without Removing Thumb Safety
Просмотров 28 тыс.3 года назад
You don't need to remove the thumb safety, and risk losing the detent or spring, to remove the left side grip panel. Before leaving a comment asking about the right side grip panel, note that there's nothing tricky about removing it. Simply remove the two screws and lift the panel off.

Field-strip and reassembly of the Remington R51.
Wow fuck me, pulled this up just as soon as the detent and spring flew across the fucking room.
I owe you a steak dinner. Thanks!
Wrong method
I never knew this was an issue
I never had all this trouble
VERY helpful. Thanks for the effort.
Thank You!!
I owned a Tomcat for one year and then sold it for half of what I paid for it. Worst Gun I’ve ever owned but it looked good.
OK, whats the part number for the safety spring... I didn't watch this very good video, before I put the new walnut grips on... Gow'd I'm stupid
Nice job
Excellent👍
Thanks!!!!
C’mon, get on it Grampa !
They have a 1000 mile break in period for warranty.
Thank you for this VDO which made it super fast and easy to replace the wood grips, I finished it with in 5 minutes. Very happy !
Thank you for making this video to share your knowledge and experience.
Great video thanks. I ordered the wood grips. Does the original screws fit with the wood grips?
Do not take the grips off. You will be sorry
Just did this and my Mag release stopped working. Any ideas?
They didn't even send you a shift knob?
How was the overdrive mph and rpm ? I'm looking at one for my 70 gto. What rear gear u running also ?
With a 3.42 differential gear freeway RPM was about 2,000 at 70 mph
Did you have any issues with drive shaft vibration? Does not look like it in the video Did you use the stock tranny cross member and did you by a Tremek driveshaft? I installed a TKX in my 65 and have been fighting drive shaft vibration at 55-60
Used the stock cross-member and had to drill a new hole on each side of the frame to bolt it in. Also used the stock driveshaft and had it shortened and re-balanced. No vibration at all but have only tested up to 85MPH.
@@funflyer9958 Did you check the run out on the bell housing ? I did the same thing….I’m assuming since the Muncie didn’t vibrate the tremek would not vibrate.
@@funflyer9958 Question, did you use the runner insulators at the cross member ends ? What transmission mount did you use ?
Take a 4 speed any day
The Muncie that came with the car was bad. The previous owner also changed the ring gears to 3:83. Since I had to change the transmission I figured the 5th gear would help me at higher rpm’s.
For your Prius?
Have the Same Beretta 3032 Tomcat Inox great little gun.
Saw your TKX video awesome. Did you have to modify the transmission tunnel. Want to do what you did. Thanks
No modification to the tunnel at all. TKX was close at the rear of the shifter opening but fit.
@@funflyer9958 thank you
I am so thankful for this vid . I can now tear down and clean in about 15 min . Take down not near as quick as you but I'll get there . Thank u
Well I screwed up safety popped out somehow and don't think that should have happened.... Whoops
I have an early model it has short safety.
Thank you, I heard that the safety was a pain in the ass, you saved me from a lot of trouble
Interesting, Good Info 👍
Worked perfectly! Thank you!
is there any way to remove the safety on the tomcat ??? because i shoot left handed and every time i shoot it i hit the safety with the top of my hand after only a few shots and then i haft to push the safety down so it will fire again
Thanks a lot This helps did not know this was so easy...
Thanks so much! I have the same wood grips coming in the mail.
Thank you for the video. I was stuck before this. Lol.
Could you use a Dremel or file and remove that ledge from the plastic grip, so that all that wouldn’t be necessary? Two screws on the grip panel provide more than enough security/rigidity. Seems like over-complication of the design by Beretta.
If the safety does pop out it is a bitch to put it back together. I had loads of fun with it..
The grips on my 3032 were broken and after seeing this video, I just bought wood grips & the change out was really easy. Thanks.
Nice . . . YOU ~ ROCK ! !
If you’re still hesitant to try this, get a large, clear plastic bag (like from the dry cleaners) and try with the pistol and both hands inside the bag. This will prevent the tiny spring from flying.
This works great to keep them little springs from flying away... use a big freezer bag which works perfectly...its saved me several times on other 'fishing rods' I have...lol
Never knew this was an issue! Are the older 1st Gen's the same way?
1st gen is the same.
@@funflyer9958 Only asking because I don't have to go thru the same procedure
Great tip
Thaaaaanks a lotttttt!!!! Just finished custom wood grips installation. No problems at all. Takes me about 15 min. for both of them.
The best
An excellent video ! Wish I had seen this before I learned way more about the safety detent than I ever wanted to know. Thank you.
@Carmine Falcone Your advice worked well on both my Bobcats,. due to age and arthritis ,I now carry the .32s. The wood grips were a nice addition to my .22 Bobcat. Due to the safety length the left grip panel will not interchange between the .22 and .32. I found the palmswell on the wooden grips acted like a "monkey trap" once I griped the pistol ,I could not pull it from my pocket. Thanks again.
Nice!
Thanks
And just like that, my mind is blown. Brilliant and simple. Thank you. Now to order some factory wood grips.🤣
I love you tube!, thanks for a great video, got my wood grips on in two minutes after watching your video!
Wood grips add to cart buy now!!! Thanks for the info
thanks for making and posting this my man
