@@Carterelectrical It is on the to do list so hopefully in the not to distant future.
i live in portaferry
@@Carterelectrical It's a beautiful place, sadly our day of filming extensive building renovations were going on so filming was a little more challenging than usual, 😁
Great start to Season 3 !🍾🎉👏. Definitely need to take a trip there once I've moved 😊
Thank you. If you touch lucky on the weather and get a great sunny day or two it's still the No.1 spot for a daytrip or a weekend break in Northern Ireland. Two beautiful beaches, a fun park, lots of shops and cafe's, you can't go wrong.
Looking forward to the new videos. We really enjoy them!
@@ronmcdowell6411 Thanks for your support, Hope you love season 3 too.
Only 2 days to wait !! 😊. But, 5 weeks for me to wait until I can move over - it's got to happen this time, 3rd time lucky, I hope!
Good luck!! Wishing you every success 👍
Looking forward to season 3 . I always enjoy your content, fantastic videos
Thank you so much, initially one video on the first Friday of every month but hopefully more come Spring/Summer. Thank you for your support.
Yeah it's as grey as it looks , what a hole
Looks like a great place to visit 😊,
@@tazminmoore455 It had sadly been closed for several years and recently reopened when we filmed. Hopefully it will come back to its full potential again. On the plus side has a great coffee & cake cafe on site.
Definitely sign me up for coffee and cake 😅😅
Lovely. Oh how i miss home ❤❤
@@neilduffin7389 They do say there's no place like it 👍, thanks for watching.
So many fond memories of Kircubbin in the 1950s. Lovely to see my late father's chemist shop, now McKeevers, next to the Village Inn. Prior to dad opening the chemist shop in 1953, this was a shoe shop . As the nearest hospital was about 20 miles away in Belfast, I witnessed many emergency surgeries performed on the chemist shop floor. One I recall was a butcher who mistook his arm for a side of meat. Another was a pig farmer who forgot that pigs can bite like a shark. Good old doctor Graham , who lived near the harbour, would arrive in minutes to patch up the casualties and get them to hospital. Every year there was a fancy dress parade where the children marched up and down Main St, through the green where the curate was hung, to a flat area near Monaghan's Bank where the judges would pick a winner. I have a photo of myself winning in 1953 dressed as Sir Edmond Hillary with a couple of baby food tins strapped to my back as oxygen cylinders. I have a photo of the fancy dress winner in another year dressed as a clockface on a stick of rock candy. Her caption said "Rock around the Clock". Her paper outfit got ripped as the parade passed our chemist shop so my late mother saved her day with a roll of sticky tape to patch her up. We owned the first and only television in Kircubbin in 1953, a 9 inch Bush-Simpson black and white. Very small compared to today's big screen tellys, but there were no others so nobody considered it small. I recall huge numbers of Kircubbinites coming into our home to watch the Queen's coronation on that little tv in 1953. They used to dredge the harbour occasionally so a steamship could get in with its load of coal. Trucks would then reverse along the harbour wall to be loaded and then take the coal to a yard in Main St. Our family migrated to Australia in 1959. All are deceased so I am the last man standing and my memories will die with me.
@@buailebawns2162 An amazing story of life and times. Thank you for sharing
I remember watching the full video, it was very good 😊.
I've literally just been looking at a house right on the seafront where you started filming, it one of the row of terraced houses! My move on 27th to Annalong has collapsed due to my buyers related sale falling through just before exchange 😢😢, so back to square one. Are you going to do a full video on Ballyhalbert ?
Ah, so sorry to hear that, being caught up in a property chain is a nightmare, but hope you bounce back quickly and get the home of your dreams. Yes there is a full video for Ballyhalbert here: ruclips.net/video/b75W2aRbPmA/видео.html Best wishes!
Looks like a very interesting video coming up!! Love the dance music, too😁
❤❤❤
Good work NIR. This was a very well produced and researched video. Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills.
Thank you for watching Tom, I've watched many of your videos too, excellent stuff. Sometimes its hard to dig out the "real" history, can't trust Wikipedia and history is written by the victors and some say a bunch of lies agreed upon. Many buildings have no access and others are long gone, making the story telling difficult at times. Still our wee country is fascinating, long history, many invasions and in places sublime and beautiful, that is what I endeavour to show. Best wishes, Steve.
Great to hear from you Steve. Your videos are so well produced and planned, mine .....well, are more rustic in style. lol I must get down to Killyleagh one of these days. I don't really know how I have managed to miss it out for all these years! Oh dear. You are doing a grand job. If you are ever up in Belfast I'll buy you a cuppa and a scone! I live up near Hillmount garden centre. I have met quite a few local RUclipsrs. It's good to meet up and, 'chew the fat'! lol Tell me what you think? Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills.
@@TomMcClean I most certainly will take you up on that offer but may have to exchanged scone for cake lol. I'll be sure to contact you when the opportunity presents itself. Best wishes.
Great stuff!
I can see my house in this video, as well as my bedroom window and old house!
Yes you came to our village!
Wow, i should go there. Well, i should but i already live here in kircubbin
Wow!!! Such an awesome cathedral, so majestic. The city, bathed in that lovely sunshine, looked wonderful. Very interesting place and a 'must' to be visited. Thank you for Season 2 ..... I am looking forward to seeing more N. Ireland hidden gems in Season 3 👏
Thank you for watching and all your wonderful comments, Armagh is huge and there's lots to do and see. Hope to see you too in Season 3.
Just love this thus place living in northern irelan d done all places and south shareing for some frinds who nit been here
Great video. Thanks.
Thank you for watching 👍
Beutiful have to share Thankyou
Thank you for watching. Yes it is a little hidden gem.
Love video had share them hope it’s ok
By all means. Thanks for watching
The little island @1:50 with the old house was the summer retreat for Thomas Andrews of Titanic fame, I live on Sketrick which has the advantage of Daft Eddies bar within a stones throw, the only disadvantage is that Daft Eddies bar is within a stones throw LOL. Sketrick is a real hidden gem of a place as are the dozens of other occupied islands in the Lough. Great video.
Great to know thank you for sharing a little more history. Daft Eddies is definitely great for coffee 😃 Thanks for watching.
Isn't it a charming little place! I shall be visiting it too 👍
It's always great to discover lesser know gems and this is definitely one not to miss out on. Thanks for watching.
@VioletR3062 Maybe we can have a group beach visiting trip, you , me, Rover and anyone else who wants to come along ? 😄😄. We can go for breakfast somewhere afterwards 😁😁
@@tazminmoore455👍Sounds like a good idea to me 😊⛱️
Interesting history lesson with the 2 Bishops 😱😁. The beach is gorgeous 😍, I shall be sure to visit! It's not that far from my house, 33 miles. Is the Tower open to the public at all?
Please do! So quiet and peaceful if you get there early enough before the dog walkers turn up. Sadly the tower isn't open at present I believe it's currently in use as a private residence. Thanks for watching.
Everyone loves Ireland!
I spent many a happy summer in Ballyhalbert (as a kid). My mum and dad owned a caravan there.
@@bpfromowc It may have changed over the years but it's charm still remains. Thanks for sharing precious memories
Wow....another video I didn't want to end...very interesting history and enjoyable to watch 👍
@@VioletR3062 Thank you, I'm always amazed by how much history is behind our wee towns and villages that sadly for the most part go by unoticed.
Indeed, very interesting history....and involving people from other parts of the world! Poor Tom Dunn, such cruel times they were.
🎉

I've just returned from a holiday in the Portstewart area and it was much busier than your video. That big golden beach was fabulous. Everyone was having such a great time as the weather was glorious that day. It was better than being on a Spanish beach 😄🏖️
Sounds great!, yeah it can get extremely busy in peak season that's for sure lol. Glad you had a fantastic time and the sun actually came out lol.
Yòùcould.notbeataholidayi ..nportstewart⁰andportrushthegoodatlanticair
The food was delicious too, some excellent chefs over there 👨🍳 👍
Lovely little town, with some great restaurants and people. I have holidayed there in recent years.
It certainly looks like a most delightful place to visit. And linger over a coffee and cake 😁😋. Only 25 miles from Annalong, too..The forest park is stunning 😍. I'll give the mountain biking trails a miss though... tried it a few years ago and it scared me half to death 😱😱.
It truly is one of the most beautiful, peaceful villages in the whole of Northern Ireland, highly recommend it. Thanks for watching.
Nice opportunity to see Ireland 😊
Windmill is cool 😅. Great that it's been preserved and remains functioning. There is a windmill not far from me, the only working windmill on Anglesey. A number of others have been converted into homes or holiday let's.
Beautiful castle and wonderful garden ❤. The beach looks amazing. Cute polar bear 😂.
You can still book a room in the old Tower section, one of Northern Ireland's most haunted hotels, if you dare lol.
@@nornirishrover That sounds like it could be fun 😁 😂
A friend stayed many years ago. He was awakened from his sleep by his little daughter complaining she had a bad dream. He half asleep got out of bed taking her hand assuring her everything was alright leading her to the door. Finally wiping the sleep from his eyes he realised the little girl had disappeared and remembered he wasn't at home but in the hotel room, wooooooo, chills
Best wee place my favourite town I’m here now in ballywalter
Fantastic hope you have a great time, thanks for watching
THAT'S THE PLACE TO BE I WAS BORN THERE JOHN CRAWFORD 😀😮🎉
Sadly the windmill has recently closed it just didn't generate enough visitors to afford to carry on. Had many great summer holidays there, thanks for watching.
I love Greyabbey, but the road to it from Newtownards is treacherous and i detest having to drive along it.
Indeed it can be quite the challenge especially in autumn and winter. Thanks for watching
I think I would stick to calling it Londonderry, why change the original history, but thank you for the explanation. Fantastic city, but sadly, some tragic events in recent times.
Indeed, the history of old is fantastic, the history of recent times egregious.
@@VioletR3062 what has happened in recent times?
I'm really sold on this one, The Forest Park, and that castle have just got to be visited....thank you for highlighting this beautiful area 👍
Quiet, peacefully and serene, but many shops if you want to go mad 😃
@@nornirishrover....Well that is an extra bit of good news ! 😅
And mine !! 😂 Loved the video, such interesting history, and the canal walks you mentioned are a must for me and my fiesty Jack Russell 😊
And not to forget right beside the canal is Hollie Berrie Tea Room, excellent food, coffee & cake 😃
