The moral of these is if you don't speak up than companies will use you like an ox
Maybe we should let wage and hour chime in on this
Exactly. You want me to use my OWN time to do your work? You will pay me accordingly.
So she is both a freelancer AND demanding overtime for her regular job? The math aint mathing. At most id give her the extra half hour she worked and remind her boss that making people work while they are off the clock and at home is not acceptable and does in fact require they be paid for their labor.
Or extend your lunch by half an hour.
Absolutely not allowed. If you have a “departmental meeting” it’s during people’s normal working hours. Otherwise if you arrange something like this outside of hours my span of hours adjust accordingly…else you pay me overtime. This isn’t a charity and I’m not volunteering my time. End of discussion.
Illegal to not pay staff for meetings
I don't know if upper management is going to approve it. Not my problem. YOU called me.
Yessss Veronica🎉
31, 506,000 seconds in a year.
This happened to me, we were scheduled to have an inspector (Federal) come to our place of business. The Chairperson decided to have a mtg at 7:30 AM, we started at 8AM. Everyone showed up for the mtg, but me. I didn't show up because previously, I requested time off, the 30 min for a previous mtg, whereby I came in early. My immediate supervisor approved my request to leave early, but one of the managers, who was not my supervisor and had no say so over my position, went and told the Director that I left early, in an effort to make me look back. Thus, because of that, I refused to come in early for any and every mtg after that. I told my supervisor what he did, and they went head to head, and it was ugly. They were not going to pay me for the additional 30 min of time, so my supervisor told me that I could leave early, the manager took exception to her decision.
I love Veronica ❤
You want my time? It'll be part of my agreed working time, or the overtime. 😂😂😂😂
Veronica speaks for us all
Happened to me; I stepped into the role of member services supervisor when my former supervisor resigned, and after five months, me stepping up was rewarded with training the next person for the role. The only good thing was that I DID get that bump in pay that I got to keep at the end of my trial. It worked out, though; I’m currently in a different role within the organization that is more in line with what I went to school for.
People be like "I'll get fired if I talk this way" It took a giant corporate buy out bringing in a team of 30 people in my department in Kansas to push me out and I interacted with my toxic manager exactly like this. They are cowards. Stand your ground. Know the law. Join a union if possible.
Das Right !
Go Veronica gooooooo!!!!! She don’t play with her time!
Thank god I’m in a union and don’t have to worry about this stuff. We get paid overtime for those Stunts they pull
If it’s “just part of the job” then you get paid for it.
Whether it's for a meeting or whatever, employers must compensate employees. They have to either pay people or give them time off in lieu. It's illegal to make hourly employees work off the clock.
And they get around this by making them “contractors” instead, so the rules don’t apply. So much easier to “terminate a contract” with a single individual than to “fire an employee.” Much less fuss and paperwork. And contractors can’t unionize, don’t get the protections or benefits offered to employees, are disposable serfs, just like the Capitalist Machine prefers. When they started calling us “Human Resources,” they stopped treating us as human, and started treating us as resources.
If they cry because there is too many hours and can't pay OT. Don't bother calling me to do anything on my free time, sometimes i get called to translate and sometimes I do and sometimes i don't.
I hate that phrase "work life balance" because it's heavily used by the laziest, most entitled people.
so you want people to work outside work hours?
Yes because forbid people be “entitled” to only work within the bounds of their arrangement of labor for wages with a company… “Lazy” and “Not (illegally) working unpaid hours” are not the same thing, funny enough! Neither are “lazy” and “doing more work for the same amount of money,” incidentally. The phrase “you get what you pay for” applies to companies, not just people.
I know that's RIGHT❗🎯. My supervisor texted me at 10 pm to give my schedule. I adbised him it could've waited til next day and yo please never text nor call after hours😅. Needless to say I quit 2omths later because of their ridiculous practices Ugggh
SNAP!🤓🤣
Its not the corporation tsking advantage. Its one asshole in the company. The corporation is providing you a job yet wording your comments like this showx your disrespect for that. If you hate the corporation just leave.
All are thiefs
Huge mistake ever😢
❤❤
And that’s why everyone should leave their workplace to take their breaks. When I had started a new driving job. I went to another depot to collect a return load for our depot. As I had to take a break after driving a certain time. And when I returned to my depot they pulled me into the office, they asked me why had I stopped to take my break. Especially when I was carrying a high value load, as I should have taken it before I had left the other depot. I informed them that no one had informed me of this. And as they didn’t pay me for my break, they couldn’t tell me when I should be taking my break

Dear i mentioned audio credit holder in discription
I was placed in a major corporation some years ago. After lunch and other breaks, were were considered to be working 7.5 hours a day. I would write in 7.5 hours for every day, regardless of the numbers of hours worked. I thought of this as "appearance money". If I did anything particularly advantageous for the company, I would add time in 0.5 hour increments. I was never questioned about the extra time I wrote up. I never checked my pay. I presume they paid what I charged. Of course, it helped that there were quite a few things I did that nobody (that is NOBODY) else in the place could do. Once you achieve that status, you can laugh at any manager that gets on your case (and I did).
“It was for the needs of the business… anyway I’m heading out.”
'The needs of the business' is not a get-out-of-jail-free card that the manager thinks it is
Yup. This is why I go out to my car during lunch.
Go to the lunch room or leave.
What's a lunch break?
See when I was working in office and I had lunch I would put on my headphones listen to music read my book. So when someone would talking I would say I can’t hear you. Then would leave me alone.
I leave my office for lunch because most of my colleges pay me a visit to ask their questions during their lunch so i had no lunchbreak. My Teamleader complains to me about not beeing at my office I told him why and he understood he leaves now too.
I make sure to take my lunch where no one else is or knows where I am.
One time, I was working a night shift-12 hours straight from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM the next day. After that, I had a 1.5-hour drive home and needed to be back at work by 8:00 PM that same day. My manager comes up to me and says, 'Where are you going? The guy who didn't show up isn't here, so I need you to cover his shift too.' When I told him that was too much to ask, he tried to 'scare' me into staying. So, I gave him one of these 🖕 and told him I was taking the rest of my life off from that job. No job is worth your physical or mental health. That’s not a job; that’s being a slave to people in power. Don’t let anyone walk all over you just because they think they know better.
I'd lock my door.
These animations have truly changed my life. I have a much better work/life balance now.
😂😂
That's why I leave for my lunch
I hate the fact people feel its ok to interrupt people who are off the clock, i would be telling her to fuck off and possibly hurling a glass in her direction
I've never run into such an idiot, has no clue how to schedule anything.😅😊
I had the same issue being interrupted during my unpaid lunch at my desk. So from now on if I am eating at my desk I treat it as being on the clock. That being said I browse emails and still do task while eating but I am getting paid for it.
By law aren't you required to take a lunch break if you work a certain amount of hours?
I used to hate this nonsense, I couldn't eat lunch in the building anymore. "Are you really still at lunch??" You mean since you bugged me 10 minutes ago?
Leave anyway. Who the F does she think she is?
