    Awesome video. My dream is to bikepack Japan one day but with a longer timeframe. May I know what bikes did you both use/bring with you? Thanks!

      I had a Giant TCR made of alloy and my friend bought a Ripstop, which is made out of steel. Suggest you just go to a second hand bike shop and find yourself a good one. You can resell it later for the same price

    Did you take the bicycles into the Shinkansen train back to Tokyo? How did that work? Is that allowed?

    • @talkaboutbackpacking
      @talkaboutbackpacking Год назад

      Yes we took the bikes in the Shinkansen, it is free of charge but you will need to put them in a rinko bag. Usually they would cost 40 dollars.

    Hi guys Great video.I am planning to cycle Sapporo to Nagasaki this April and would like to ask you where you would lock your bikes at the hotels/ryokans you stayed at? Would it be realistic to leave the bikes in a storage room or brought up into the room in a rinko bag? Any advice you would offer would be greatly appreciated especially concerning which type of bike lock to use.Thanks for any advice you can share.

      Hi Bernie, thank you! We used fairly simple locks to secure the bikes. We used a Abus lock but also recommend to buy at a Don Quijote, great value for money! We mostly stored the bikes in the accomodation since people are super friendly, especially when you tell them about your trip! Good luck!!

    Hello, planning a ride from Tokyo to Kyoto hopefully in December. Could I check what was your budget set aside for such a trip? And what bags did you use? Considering a bike-mounted one vs carrying on my back like you guys. Really inspired by your trip :)

    • @talkaboutbackpacking
      @talkaboutbackpacking 2 года назад

      Thank you! During the trip, we spent around 5000 yen each day. This includes the hostel/hotel, food and drinks. We got all our food at the convenience stores. We used just our backpack and a small bag which was mounted on the frame (just a 500 yen bag from Amazon), mainly for chain oil, extra inner tubes and tire levers. Luckily, our friends brought some of our luggage on the plane for the stay in Osaka/Kyoto. Hope you will a nice trip!
