    THE RETURN OF AN EARLY PIONEER; (A Freedom Fighter of the 1960’s) To all my FRIENDS, followers and well wishers: My Ghana families has invited me back to Ghana to grow old gracefully as the Visual-Artist, that I am,,, in fact they have several apartments available for me to choose from. Hmmmmmm ? Their reasons are: In 1965 I left for Ghana with less than $300 in my pocket; to answer the call from Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to African-Americans, to come and help in the *Rebuilding of Africa. (Aka; *FREEDOM FIGHTERS) Five (5) months after my arrival Nkrumah’s government was overthrown which was a heartbreakers to many and caused many changes of plans… And a moment of panic for some. As for me, I was adopted by an Ashanti-Paramount Chief, Nana kwaku Duah; Agogo-hene, (1966) and given the name “Kojo Acheampong.” and adoptive into one of his sub-chiefs clan, Nana Otteng, and spent the next eleven (11) years living in Ghana, often traveling to Togo and the Ivory Coast to market my jewelry. I earned a living by learning and making jewelry of traditional designs which I carved from cow-horns and ivory (a skill I was taught by traditional craftsmanship) after immersing myself in the customs culture. On my return to the United States in 1976, I was able to contribute to the growing interest in African art and culture. Now in my senior years (86+) and on the suggestion (& insistence) of my adopted family, I’ve decide to take them up on their; “Uncle; you should come back to Ghana and enjoy with us, that which you’ve enable us make possible. “ IT WAS A BORN AGAIN EXPERIENCE Details here: www.amazon.com/Curtis-James-Morrow/e/B074TWSKKW?ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_3&qid=1566355782&sr=1-3 Online Gallery: mysankofa2012.artspan.com/

    i dont see how he speak about Nationalist Philosophy and not mention Marcus Garvey who influenced Knrumah and all the rest he mentioned.

    • @knowun
      @knowun 7 лет назад

      Darrin Wright I doubt he did it to spite Garvey... It is likely because his lecture is more of a historical survey of African philosophy as it was perceived and presented by Europeans. he has yet to even go into African philosophy in itself.

      There was philosophy and it is in Africa. Following the ancient Africans history, it is origin of philosophy.

    I would like to correct your answer Dr. African philosophy cannot be universalized for what is philosophy? Philosophy is an art, an art that is composed in thinking, reasoning critically analytically and speculatively. Just like Music, poetry and novels as you said, African philosophy is unique to the African, like African Poetry, remember Atieno Yo, poem? Yes that is how African Philosophy is, a way of life...Philosophy, I always object, is not universal...

    • @aiksmart
      @aiksmart 11 месяцев назад

      Nope, it is as universal as that of any other races. It is our universal view of life and its been proven right in pretty much every situation; like medicine (1st recorded successfully cesarean surgery was performed in Buganda, Uganda and thats a product of African philosophy, and Imhoteph the father of modern medicine was from Ethiopia and thats Africa philosophy). The 1st European university is the University of Salamanca in Spain was built by Maurs/Moors, and these were black Africans, and the thought process which developed that institution is Africa philosophy and thats UNIVERSAL philosophy.
