Luis TV. A lot of people don't know this about Jeffrey
You need to expand your knowledge of the world mountain ranges. There’s many more places in the world where you can get views like that.
@@marianitosan9759 yeah, I really should mention the Pyrenees and the Caucuses. What other ones have you seen?
That is a great road, I have only been up it once on my bike but quite a few times in the car. Is there a regular meetup out there? I would love to go see all the bikes and follow some people up the road.
@@brianvaller6589 why yes there is. At the bottom of the crest there is a shell gas station. There on any given Sunday you will find an array of people and groups meeting up to go up the crest road. In addition to that, there is a coffee shop down the street called Cabra Coffee where you will find the same, groups of people hanging out, looking a bikes and getting ready to ride up the crest. Enjoy.
I really enjoy the riding and commentary, your videos do a good job of showing what the riding is like (I'm on a WR250 too). I'm hoping to go ride this area next week and your Black Bear pass video gives me confidence I can do it compared to the ones of people crashing their way down it on large adventure bikes!
@@andreasschmidt3413 the WR 250 R is a fantastic bike for black bear Pass. The places is beautiful beyond words. It’s a bucket list ride. Enjoy. Not many people get to see what you’re going to see when you’re there.
I assume you have the IMS 3.0 gallon tank if you made it 218 miles. 72 MPG is really good, I usually get 62-67 MPG.
@@andreasschmidt3413 I do, I have the 3 gallon IMS tank and the bike is also equipped with an EMF exhaust. The gearing is a little taller on my bike than stock. I’m not exactly sure, but I think I went to teeth smaller on the rear sprocket.
Que chevere 😍
The song is Black Bear Road by CW McCall
@@SasquaPlatypus I wish I could have came up with the name on the spot. But thanks for the reminder. A nice song for a nice ride.
Pass is no worse than any others in the area with the one exception. It is not the most difficult but at the steps it is totally unforgiving. A mistake there can be fatal. Ridden it twice probably not again. Imogene just to the north is prettier overall more challenging with numerous water crossings and winds up in Telluride as well. The dangerous part is no more than a hundred feet or so. But it is responsible for more than one fatality.
@@othgmark1 agreed, I thought Imogene was harder too. But yes, those few hundred feet of step downs are something else. Hairy to put it lightly.
really enjoyed your video - thanks
@@mark-lj5dc thanks Mark, I’m glad you liked it. I had a blast filming that.
👍👍
@@hondacr250L thanks for watching. :-)
Very nice video Luis. I have the WR, but alas no Wendolyn.
@@friedaspyder8485 I’m so lucky to have my Wendolyne. Luckier than I deserve, for sure. I hope one day you too can have your own version of my Wendolyne.
I guess I missed the dangerous part, but it sure is beautiful.
@@Sully8858 I think the only reason they say this is because beginners sometimes get in over their heads and go overboard. So to speak.
Dangerous as hell in a vehicle put on a motorcycle not much more dangerous than riding a motorcycle in general. In a vehicle if you fall over the edge you're in a rolling death cage
I think would be scarier by a bouncy jeep like everyone does
@@FiftiesForward I agree 100 % on that.
@@FiftiesForward the cars take forever to come down that section compared to the bikes. Most bikes take a few minutes to get through there. If a group of 5 or more jeeps show up, they may be there all afternoon.
@@sanchezsaturno I bet
I ride a BMW R1250 GSA. The only issues I can see are navigating the steps and dragging the skid plate which could through me off my intended path. This is a great video and very informative for those of us who have never done Black Bear Pass.
@@dhbrantley thank you Brantley, I’m glad you liked it. Yeah the GSA is a big bike. You can totally do it on one of those but do it with a few friends. Don’t take that bike up there by yourself. I’d help you do it but I live in Santa Fe. So it’s not exactly a local ride for me.
@@dhbrantley it can and has been done on a really large adventure bike but the idea of getting thrown off your intended path will not be ok. Off your path to the left means a 200 foot plus vertical plunge to your death. To your right you are up against a cliff face. I have ridden on a Drz400 and a Husaberg fe650. I own a Gs1200 it might be doable for you but the entire area is much more fun a lighter more nimble motorcycle. Keep in mind that the video shows it dry. I have ridden down the steps when water was running down them as well. There a number of rides in the area that are enjoyable on something larger such as Animas Forks, Corkscrew Gulch, Cinnamon Pass, Engineer Pass, Imogene can be navigated as well. Even these have higher than normal risk involved. Pulling into Ouray one year we saw the rescue choppers take off before our ride. A tourist killed himself and his entire family on Imogene Pass. Ground clearance on a GS will definitely become an issue at times.
Stop calling this the most dangerous pass in Colorado. It’s nothing of the sort.
@@jeeperp3926 yeah it didn’t seem super dangerous to me either when I was done with it.. So I was a little perplexed too as to why so many websites and forums call it that. Maybe that’s just the fame it got over the years but who knows. The bottom line is that it’s super cool and it’s a must ride for any off-roader and adventure bikers out there.
@@sanchezsaturno You are very gracious in your replies. Me gustan mucho tus videos y tu perspectiva sobre la vida.
@@chriskneifl3290 I’m a hopeless romantic, an adventurer at heart and a pragmatic optimist having real conversations with people I share a common interest with. And I really am happy you enjoyed my videos. If you haven’t seen the Baja videos yet, you should. Lots of cool riding out there.
@@chriskneifl3290 ruclips.net/p/PLzOLtKmKBIML9cG6dJVKeJzvvGOt4WmeY&si=0Vpjnmnm1SuSIh3X Here is a link to those.
@sanchezsaturno It's definitely the fame, it gets a ton of traffic. Schofield I think is technically the most dangerous, or at least has racked up the most deaths
"They really make 'em tall in Colorado." 💥 Great stuff Luis TV🍻🤙🏽🎯!
@@elpatudo3670 thank you, I’m glad you liked it. I have a blast making these videos.
The song is Black Bear Road by CW McCaul. Hilarious 2 minute frantically-told family adventure story! ✨🤣 Nice riding that’s a lot steeper than it appears!! 14:01 Great drone work at Bridal Falls!
@@Porsche996driver thanks, I’m glad you like it. Yeah, the famous steps definitely feel like you could go over your handle bars.
How can I NOT get into cold water? Very easily.
@@alsnyder1660 oh yeah, cold plunges are really refreshing.
What is your drone?
@@glittlehoss it’s a DJI Mavic Mini 2.
very kewl!
It really is that cool. It is seriously a bucket list ride.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's way steeper than the camera shows?
It is frighteningly steep through there. It isn’t steep enough to go over you handle bars, but it certainly feels like it.
But it’s only scary at the step-downs. The rest of the ride is probably intermediate.
Why is it every bike video only plays in my left ear so annoying just change it to mono. Its so annoying its unboreable to watch
Yeah, dude, I agree. I noticed that just recently. One of the speakers on my computer station broke, and I lost only the audio where I was speaking from the helmet. I thought this was really weird. How is it that just my voice is gone. it turns out the microphone I’ve been using inside my helmet is a mono microphone. I have since changed out the microphone. But there’s nothing I can do about this video now. All the audio in that video is stereo. Except for the audio that’s coming from my helmet. That one only has one channel. I am annoyed too, believe me. That’s the best video I’ve ever made and audio is all fucked up.
Ran this in 1976 in a totally stock jeep wagoneer. It was a real trail then. Imo has been citified to accommodate tourists
Oh yeah, I’m sure it has changed since then, that’s almost half a century ago. It would have been cool to see how it was then. I’m totally jealous you saw how it was back then.
Was this in New Mexico? It looks a little lush for New Mexico!
It is New Mexico, that place is called Lichen Falls and it’s in the middle of a very lush forest. A tributary of the Rio Grande flows through there, making the surrounding area as green as any other forest in much wetter environments.
Excellent video.
Thank you Bob, I appreciate it. I had a blast shooting it. Such a good ride.
❤😊
😊
You got passed a lot lol
Yeah, those guys are fast!
Fantastic video sir!!! The ride looks nerve racking, but those are the type I enjoy most. Your additional footage using your drone was brilliant. I absolutely loved this video!!! Black Bear Pass has just been added to my bucket list. Thank you 🙏
Thanks Jim, I had a blast making that video. It’s definitely a ride everyone should do at least once. It’s super epic up there.
RMS Challenger! There was a space shuttle called challenger and it did not work out well! Hopefully this one held together!
Omg you are right. This one survived just fine. Especially during launch.
Awesome video.... one day!
We got do this some day. You in your 4x4 and me on the bike.
I bet Peter cleared it on the first try... unassisted!
Oh yeah, he is good. He podiumed on the first enduro race he ever ran.
U guy's going to Redrock 100? If you do can't wait to meet u guy's.
Which one is that, the Webe race in Gallup?
@@sanchezsaturno Yes sir last week of June
Somebody was getting some air!
Yeah, that guy is proper fast
Nope. Too cold! After living half my life in the north, the other half is in the south! I'll happily watch you!!!!
Yeah, it’s a bit of a pain to be on ice for that long. It seems like no matter how well insulated you get, the cold still finds a way to grab hold of you.
I am guessing that was in the middle of the night? It's amazing how much light there was!
That was about midnight when I shot that. Midnight hiking up there in the snow and full moon is magical. Your eyes adjust so well that you basically can see as good as daylight.
This makes me want to get an adventure bike..
It’s great to be able to ride off road on a bike you can also do interstate with.
You gonna race this summer?
Looks like a fun ride, and thanks for helping others. I can only be jealous because our trails don't open until May / June (Northern Colorado). Any recommendations for NM trails?
Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. Yeah, if you don’t help a fellow ride, you are not doing it right. That’s a bummer about your trails but I understand. Colorado gets a lot more snow than we do so it’s understandable a lot of places would be inaccessible at the moment. New Mexico is basically open all year round for off road riding and we have fantastic trail in the Santa Area, Albuquerque area, Pecos area. I live in Santa Fe so these trails are basically my back yard. If you make it out on this area let me know and I’ll give you a tour of our trails.
@@sanchezsaturno I would love a tour, fall will probably work better than spring this year as several projects need my time.
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
I’m glad you liked it. It was awesome shooting that video
Word !
It’s a super cool place.
I never tried this trail yet, but it's on my list. I did a video on my channel when I rode up to Red Cone Pass, which was pretty hairy, and curious to see how they compare. Great video!
Red Cone and Black Bear are similar in altitude. But Black Bear has those step downs. It’s not a long section, maybe 200 feet long. But it is very memorable. It is memorable enough not to remember the rest of the ride.
I'd love to head down that way in July. I'm in NorCo, so mostly hitting up the trail systems out this way, but looking to expand out to the south a bit.
lol, funny, I’m in Santa Fe, I’m not from this area either. But I do love it.
*In South America, people cross passes like these because they have to. In North America, people cross passes like these because they're bored.* Excellent video. A small cc motocross bike is the only way to do this.
Omg you are so right. lol. About both the passes and the small cc.
Same can be said for Copper Canyon in Mexico which not for nothing, is four times the size of the Grand Canyon. Just wonderful adventure riding down south...
In South America, people rob people in the cartel and civilians cause they have to. In North America, they do it because we’re bored. We aren’t the same bro. 😂😂
The music. Argh.
I disagree. I wasn’t bored when I did it. We did it in a Yamaha Rhino. Great trail.
You're thinking of "Wolf Creek Pass" by C.W. McCall. Years ago he used to operate an upstairs slide show in Ouray called The San Juan Odyssey.
That’s the one! lol where were you when I was shooting this video. Lol. Thanks man.
@@sanchezsaturno I know southwest Colorado well. In my estimation the most scenic and interesting part if the state. I've ridden offroad in the area in the early '80s. Never Black Bear, but Stony Pass and Bristol Head above Creede. I'm looking at 80 summers this year so I no longer ride off road, although I do still throw a leg over my street bike. Great video presentation, very enjoyable.
Thanks Gary, I’m glad you liked it. It was a great time shooting that video.
This is the best video I have seen for this ride. You did a very good job!
Thanks man, I’m glad you liked it. I had a blast shooting it. And my girlfriend helped. Been wanting to go back and ride it again. Maybe in May or June when the snow clears. I’ll go back for a second attempt.
One of the best Black Bear Pass videos I've seen! Great drone shots, too!
I’m glad you liked it. I had a blast shooting this video. I think I’m returning this coming summer to ride it again.
Famous last words...

TOOO much fun! And very few bad decisions...
Very few.
Clickbait. Cool place but far from dangerous.
Yeah, the jeep websites are a little dramatic. On four wheels I’d understand. Two, not really. I got it from the site I used to read about this pass. That site even had that viral video of a jeep tumbling down the pass. I think that’s why it came up first.
@@sanchezsaturno I saw that, it was crazy!! Modern dirt bikes can handle some crazy stuff, Romaniacs, etc. Still fun.
Yeah, they really are a whole different class of vehicle.
Amazing ride... which drone are you using? Amazing video.
Thanks man I’m glad you liked it. I use the DJI Mavic Mini 2. Although I’ve been itching to upgrade to the mini 4 since it has follow me features. But the mini 2 shoots in 4K and there is nothing wrong with it so I’m still using it.
Very cool. 🤙🏽
