My European mind explodes when I hear how much people working in tech make in the US, and yet many still can’t afford to pay their bills or have proper healthcare coverage. In Europe, it’s harder to get fired, and while salaries might not be as high, you have social security, unemployment benefits, and a safety net that provides a lot more stability
I just got laid off from work and I feel so down and I had the exact same things
Back to homeless now 😅😅
We feel we don't know enough because the job requirements make us feel like that
I just got lay off too late september. I knew it was coming since they started hiring offshore people starting earlier in the year and soon just replace us. I tried to do find another job but the job market is rough. I originally just span my search for remote only jobs but there isnt too many compared to hybrid. So I just started expanding my search for hybrid jobs just for interview practice. Also the techincal interviews are harder now than they were in 2022 or years prior. They are asking more and difficult coding questions and they even they ask behavioral questions in the recruiter screen which is unheard of couple of years ago. Yeah the market is rough but hopefully goes back up again after elections and the holidays in early 2025.
I appreciate this video. Way to keep it real! Looking forward to future videos.
I’m getting into coding and feeling a lot of this. Thanks for this video!
just get 5 sources of income, bro 🙄
I think I still have this imposter syndrome in me. Maybe I could fight it collaborating on a project with someone here. I use django by the way. thanks for the tips
I'm in your position right now Sept 2024 i'm jobless
You won't believe, I was feeling really down because of the exact same things, I'm not good enough and tutorial hell😢. Thank you so much for this video I needed to hear this.😊😊
This! Web designer and a bit long in the tooth, I left the industry for a few years and now need to update my skills to get back in it again, imposter syndrome hit me like a ton of bricks! Nice to know i'm not alone feeling this. Thankyou!
Knowing your lady is in the PH I feel like God made that happen for you for a reason. Go be with your family brother. I’m glad you’re doing well.
Something to consider instead of paying off your house if you’re going to move to the Ph you may want to hire a property manager and have them rent your home out and let the rent payoff the mortgage and invest that money instead of paying it off
Cybertrucks are ugly and unreliable.
After being let go 3 times I think that entrepreneurship is the path that I should be going.
You shouldn’t let setbacks bring you down.
Just found this channel Chris. How many channel do you have bro. It’s wild every time you start a new journey im like a year or two behind you. I started learning to code about a year after you and now I’m trying to freelance too. I want to live in Thailand or The PH as a Digital Nomad. Best way to go.
What about using chat gpt to solve most problems? I feel that’s cheating… I seem to use it quite often and I don’t know if that’s bad practice
Use it to give you suggestions and if not any different approaches you can take when tackling a challenge rather than giving you a solution rather than just asking for the solution right away. I use ChatGPT everyday for nearly everything. Even coding. But if I was a new developer, i'd use ChatGPT more like a mentor that can help you learn how to solve problems.
I use it too. Its not cheating but over relying on it can inhibit your learning, i use it more as a tool and for speed, if i don't know something it saves times ploughing through google and forums, also for learning it can deepen your understanding of coding concepts, if i ask for explanations that can reinforce my learning too.
so i am currently in a tutorial hell... that is why i am having difficulty.
Man, thanks for sharing this and be too transparent, real, honest, positive and inspiring. I feel like I’m watching a brother who really wanna help, your videos are helpful to me trying to get in tech. Blessings for you 🙏
Hey Chris, I love your videos! I'm learning frontend web development, and your advice has been really helpful. I don’t use social media (besides Discord), but I’d love to get in touch with you for some guidance. If email is an option, that would be great!
that was awesome explanation dude thanks for that, what we expect next ha ?
You are absolutely right. We only need one skill - how to break down big things into small things. That's all!
Man, you look so stressed out.
My life has never been better. Zero stress in my life.
Thank you for the video. I recently completed building a Rock Paper Scissors game, and it was quite challenging. I watched a tutorial, but I didn’t copy it. I implemented the game my way.
I know exactly how you felt, I felt the same way. In my case, my impostor syndrome came from the process of the new company I had started working for had a different process than what I had gotten used to. It took me a while to understand that.
I went to coding bootcamp in the middle of 2020. I finished bootcamp in 2021. I got my first contract in late 2022. After my contract I was not hired by the company and went 4 months without a job. Then in 2023, I got a job as a software developer. When I was in coding bootcamp, I would watch the “day in the life of a software developer” videos and get so caught up in dreaming for the end goal. What I realized is that when I was caught up in the end goal, I wasn’t making progress. What changed for me is I focused on the journey. I focused on learning and improving. I decided I was going to take pride in being a developer and that my progress matters. I think that mentally has served me well as a dev today. I think if you’re going to be successful, you need to focus on the journey and focus on improvement. It’s great to have goals, but focus on the journey that you will be on to meet those goals.
Absolutely! I believe this perspective can be applied universally. People often fixate on the end goal, but it’s truly about having a passion for what you do. When you love your craft, that end goal will naturally follow. As someone who’s been in the industry since the late 90s (back when the internet was just starting out-can you believe it? 😂), I've built my career as a front-end web designer. My passion for design, continuous learning, and perfecting my craft has always been the driving force behind my success and helped me reach a senior level early on. However, life threw me a curveball, and I stepped away from web design for a while (though I remained in tech). Now, the landscape has changed, becoming more saturated and competitive. I’m eager to return-not just for the end goal, but because I genuinely miss the work. I absolutely loved being in this industry, and while I still have my creative skills, I know I need to refresh my technical skills. The journey of learning never really ends!
Timely for me
Just a sidenote: $45k/year is crazy good for Sweden. Midlevel are making that amount here in Sweden. Europe really is not paying that much as USA unfortunately.
don't forget the taxes tho, i have friends in eu and the states, and belive me when i say that the us is a monster when it comes to paying taxes ..
@@abdelazizsaidi143 I think Sweden is the worst of them all. If you make above $5k/month they tax you first 30% of that and everything above they tax "rich man tax" another 30%.
@@alanhabib1942 damn, I didn't know this, so the more you gain the more they take ? That's crazy
Really appreciate the message 🔥
Damn thanks for the motivation
I appreciate your passion for the job you do and your hope to see young developers become successful, even though it's a pretty difficult and long road. I'm new to tech myself and I have learned a lot from watching your videos. Thank you for not intimidating beginners and I'm looking forward to more helpful content from you.
Need this video! Thanks, Chris, it gives me motivation that there are always more things we can do to better our future as a developer
why do you have 3+ channels?
extra income I guess.

Congratulation, God bless you
Dude, it's not a side hustle if it makes you 2x what your full time job makes you.
It only requires 20 hours per week from me while my fill time job requires 40 hours lol.

what your opinion on learn solidity smart contract auditor and smart contract developer in blockchain space or blokchain develper ?
100% pure lies
The mortgage company that pre approved me to purchase a $1,000,000 home definitely believed me.
Super helpful and inspiring, thanks for sharing!
Where do you find your clients as a freelancer? Tried upwork it's very competitive especially frontend jobs. Please make a tutorial or video on this.
Hey Chris! Bro you’re doing big things now. I followed you from your main channel when you started your coding journey. You look and seem much happier and most importantly healthy! Went from a Nissan Sentra to a nice black Tesla. Don’t have to pay gas but at least no maintenance hardly so more affordable to own an EV. You also have a house, pets, looks like you got married too with that big gold ring we see. Yea.. I don’t think many of us could take on that much freelance work let alone 3 companies simultaneously haha.. and a new job. Do you think bootcamps are still relevant and do you think it’s worth it? I still have high interest in a coding journey but haven’t had the chance to do so.. we were communicating through your old channel but years ago lol.. It seems to become more saturated now and HR still looks for formal degrees. So I’m either thinking I go back to school get my bachelors or take on a bootcamp. I happen to know an affordable bootcamp online and also the university online is competency based so affordable too. Any advice would help sir and congrats to a much nicer life! Though it took you time blood sweat tears moving around from Las Vegas and back forth you are a success to me. Congrats 👏
