Texas Legal Services Center (TLSC) is a nonprofit legal aid organization that provides legal advice, advocacy, representation, and education to underserved people across the state. With more than a dozen practice areas, our work touches almost every aspect of civil law that impacts low-income Texans.
We help income-eligible Texans access healthcare, safety, stability, housing, government benefits, and employment. TexasLawHelp.org is managed by TLSC and part of our effort to empower people who must represent themselves in the justice system. All TLSC services are free.

Hi. I'm having a hard time finding ANYWHERE in Texas Property Code or on legal websites, or ask legal questions forums online that addresses what to do after you WIN IN J.o.P. court as the defendant in eviction case. Well, it can happen and I asked for a "take nothing" judgment against the Plaintiff. . On July 12th 2023 my fiance and I were in eviction court as Defendants and her brother was Plaintiff. I discovered a mistake where he filed the eviction at 10:48 a.m, but his notice said we had until 5 p.m. the same day. The Judge told him he violated his own Notice To Vacate timeline and ruled in our favor with Plaintiff takes nothing! Needless to say we were thrilled, however we were not prepared when two days later on the 14th ( after spending the night previous, on the 13th, conversing with her brother about how we were going to put a plan together that suited all of our interests.... in writing... so no one could get outside the fence) I come home in the early evening to find a notice to vacate on the ground about fifteen feet away from the front door. Two pieces of tape were affixed to the top corners of the sheet of paper that was a bad copy of a notice to vacate. We have a mailbox so I didn't think he was allowed to post it outside. Much less if it's going to blow off the door and out into the yard. He's trying to start a new notice to vacate that includes the $ amount he was using in the trial when only two short days prior he lost and received the take nothing judgment. I totally know that on Monday morning if we don't pay the disputed amount to him people start the process all over again. Well as it was clearly not delivered or sir in a way that the wall requires, is there a way that I can present this notice to vacate before court to keep him from filing another eviction that ultimately the judge will turn in our favor once again because of another procedural ? we don't want to go through the mess of court again and just simply want to leave now. We can't trust him to do what he says he's going to do and to be quite plain about it, our hearts are broken on the way he's handled this thing. can I get ahold of the county clerk or something to alert them to the invalid notice to vacate method of delivery so they can determine if it was wrong and keep this from going to court again? This notice says he delivered it at 7 a.m. on Friday and I have a feeling he's going to go out there at 7 a.m. on Monday and wait for them to open so I can file it first thing. That would just be another procedural error. And he did not put it into sealed envelope on the front door with bold letters saying important documents enclosed and we have a mailbox so he should not have been putting it on the front door anyway. Also I was surprised the plaintiff was so quick to refile. He thinks he has a slam-dunk case any really does not. But since there was a five-day ability to appeal that has not your lapsed yet, even though it would only be him that would appeal, is he allowed to serve a notice anyway? All I know is we just need a few more days to get our stuff together and Shake the Dust off and start over because this went real wrong real fast and I believe it was premeditated and intentional on his part. Maybe I should let it go to trial again and and have it go nowhere and then ask the judge for relief? I need a good attorney in this area Johnson County talk to you about this.

This video is a joke considering Texas just let a woman named Marka Bodine walk free because the Texas legal system cares more about mothers with newborns than they do the minor boys those women sexually abused for for 3 years. And maybe avoid only using women, since the CDC‘s NISVS study says that Forced to Penetrate crimes often outnumber Penetrated by force crimes.

This is sad, because both Danielle and Dr Smith are kind of cute. Also, why are the attorney and the client both only talking at the same time starting at 3:00? You would think they would take turns talking back and forth, like a normal dialog.

As a Navy veteran in Corpus Christi I’ve been hit by two cars on purpose in the last year and been burglarized once. Abused by the police and local hospital and the VA isn’t helping me with my anxiety or mental health but because I’m stuck here after building a house and the virus.. I’m f’ed I built this town, and used to have connections to the mayor and several high offices. Not anymore, and it doesn’t help my severe anxiety at 63 knowing that I have no one to help me with crime health care or a district attorney who gives a damm. Thanks for your service.. my butt I was a volunteer in the Vietnam era.. a Corpsmen and worked all my life in Corpus, but have never been made to feel so alone as I am in serious trouble with absolutely nobody to help. I shouldn’t be treated like this, but I’m sure you’re busy with the virus.. I’m just hoping to get it, and soon because I don’t want to go on living knowing that there’s literally no one I can call for help, or even protect me from the anxiety it’s causing knowing that I don’t even matter. The first person I met in corpus had gold paint on his face because huffing gold was a better high on the T head to get away from Corpus he said. So at sixteen I told him that I had lifelong vacations in Florida and Corpus was paradise in comparison. So after walking to the L head I saw the ambulance loading this kid my same age up after returning to the dock to huff falling in to drown and literally throwing his life away. I was down here because of the passing of my dad in Chicago, and my brother was the manager of the coliseum. But most of all because I believed that I had my whole life ahead of me.. I now wish I could have joined my new friend, because he was right.. Corpus Christi is a great place as long as you are connected, or rich? Other than that.. you’re better off jumping into the bay!
