I thought i would share this musical memory! I stumbled on one of his videos on RUclips, of which he has many - it just brought back so many memories for me!! I bought my first guitar, that being a CBS 1971 Fender Telecaster, in Comiskies Music Shop, Dundalk, Ireland, in 1982. Bernard, was a very welcoming owner of the shop, as he wanted to sell me a Gibson Les Paul - alas, i declined! From this, i started to learn all my chords and scales, from previous piano accordion lessons, however being a very technical aspect of musicianship, it gave me a great grounding in my playing and indeed how i wanted to play, that being like Alex Lifeson of Rush and Gary Moore at that time. Then i heard Ronnie!! Many a good time was deliberated with myself and David Irlam - we would go to Liverpool almost every Saturday morning, namely and firstly to Hessey's, to drool over the guitars. Dave was into his Gibson's, whilst i looked at the Fenders, then moving next door to Curly's, where Ronnie was working. I always remember walking into Curly Music on that first day, to see Ronnie with an Ibanez Destroyer II, playing his rendition of Van Halen's “Eruption”. It was just brilliant, i will never forget it. It changed me forever. From this and onwards, we would both go into Liverpool every Saturday - i would ask Ronnie to show me stuff, especially “Finger per Fret”, he would sit down with me and show me stuff - to this day i have always had his fingering shape and technique. He is just an amazing player. I have always kept his pick, or “Plectrum”, to this day! I just sat down with him, on an H&H 100W Overdrive amp, in the shop to show me some trick, i never handed it back! The last time we met was about 1984, just outside Curly Music. Hope we could meet again Ronnie!! Best Wishes!!

The outstanding Track is number 9 - Everything I need! Best Track - quite pleased with my Drum Sound. Unfortunately the Music Master Bass with Battery Pre-Amp sounds too Entwistle - zero low end - Bass should sound Bassy to me. Too much Treble conflicts with the Lead Guitar. Bass should underpin a song not dominate it. Prefer a Blues Tone Precision on a Classic Blues style song. Can't fault the Singing or Great Guitar playing from the Master Shredder.

It was interesting to look back more than 40 years but Im less than happy at the way I approached the songs musically? I'd spent the previous few years in Rock bands and unfortunately that spilled over. Geoffs' drumming was great though. Thankfully my playing took a very different course soon after this. Thanks for the memory mate x
