Je besoin de pièce Bernina c'est vous ?
I don’t have any spare parts. You could try getting parts for a Bernina 217 from: globalsew.com/global-spare-parts/
I'm so jealous, what an amazing space! I restore and conserve items that I come across as an antique dealer, but my work space is sorely lacking. Incredible items they're working on as well!
What exactly waa wrong with it and why did you turn all those screws to fix it?
Hello, I have a BERNINA 117K, the needle position is Stucked at the left how to fix it?
looks like a beast
C’est combien je veux une 217❤
Do you know of any other industrial machines that do straight stitch and buttonhole or is this the only one? I looked around at Juki, Pfaff and didn't find anything as versatile in industrial (straight stitch and buttonhole). Maybe I looked wrong. Thanks.
This is a zigzag machine that will also sew straight stitch. I am making the buttonhole by sewing with a zigzag stitch that is very close together “ satin stitch”. This technique could be done on any zigzag machine.
@@philipbrutz2175 Thanks. Do you think it would be as ergonomic as this Bernina 217 which has two stops to maintain the width of the buttonhole? I'm talking about a non-electronic machine like this Bernina. On a Pfaff 238, it seems less obvious to me, right? I like the idea of a non-electronic industrial machine that is incredibly reliable and can do what a domestic machine does (straight, zigzag, buttonhole, embroidery). Do you have any other models to suggest?
@@blablamacg423I am not familiar with other industrial/domestic sewing machines. The Bernina 217 and the smaller Bernina 117 were designed for small commercial sewing shops such as dressmakers, tailors, costume shops, etc. They are both some of the finest sewing machines ever made for this market. The presser feet can be a challenge to find. I have modified my Bernina 117 and 217s to accept Bernina domestic cone mounted presser feet. Here is a post about them: instagram.com/p/CACwZUCAz66/?igsh=bmQ5NTBkeXN1czlq
@blablamacg423 Here is a link to the Bernina 117 modification: instagram.com/p/B8GlMyagRYx/?igsh=MW45Nmpqdnk2M3Zheg==
@blablamacg423 Very good quality clones of the Bernina 217 are still being made: globalsew.com/product/zz-217-series/
Thank you a lot for all chares of your knowlege Sir, about this marvelous sewing machine, it's a "jewel" with smart and simple engeneering...🙏👌I'm actualy tring to rebuilde a BERNINA 217 and thank's to your totorial, Iunderstand better the challenge that i have in front of me😊
I like 217 I’m watching from Sénégal
I have a Bernina Industrial 217N-08 in excellent condition at home. Is Neal Lund still with us? No action on his RUclips page for about 3 years. Just curious as to the weight for adjusting the bobbin tension. Any idea as to how much it weighs?
I am sorry but Neal has passed away. This was the very last 217 that he rebuilt.
can you show two needle set up and threading?
Do you own a two needle clamp for the 217? They are very rare.
Nice work!
Ich möchte mit dieser Person kommunizieren
I am sorry but Neil has passed away. I made this video because I didn’t want his knowledge to be completely lost when he died.
Thank you so much! Your voice reminds me of me of my Gran. She used to crochet and knit a whole bunch but got Alzheimer when I was young so I never got to talk to her about it. Thanks for the tutorial. 👍
Thank you, you might enjoy watching the other videos in this series. I broke them up into individual steps.
❤
Thank you for sharing this. What year was this sewing machine made?
1996
Thank you for the video I picked up a 217 dated 1977 with a complete cam set. I was able to tear the machine down far enough with this video to repack the transfer cases thank you!!
Thanks for that very informative video. 9:40 Dang, is that machine dusty under the stitch plate and around the feed dogs. I even see some thread tangeled around the hook-axis. Having a not free moving under thread mechanics is something this hook system really dislikes. (I own my 217 since 20+ Years, mostly for sewing kites and all kind of textile outdoor / bushcraft gear.)
I found this video because of the person who commented below me. You surprised me with this video as I thought halfway through that you had no clue as to what you were doing but in about the last 15 seconds it all came together so perfectly so im impressed. Great underrated video and very informative. Hopefully it gets the views it deserves one day.
Thank you, it is a classic upholstery technique.
Hello teacher, please send me your WhatsApp number. I am a Bernina 217 sewing machine repairer in Iran. Thank you. Good luck.
🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘
Tank you 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️
Would you by any chance have the part number for the foot and bias attachment. Trying to find them myself, thanks.
What a beautiful result! I'm looking into buying one of these myself and I was wondering if this machine is compatible with an industrial walking foot? Same as a lot of upholsters seem to have? And what kind of needles it requires. I'd like to sew vinyl if possible. Thanks!
truly fascinating and very compelling! thank you for sharing
I see you have standard Bernina foot, how is it possible mine have regular industrial feet? Thank you!
I made an adapter to use Bernina new style domestic 9mm presser feet on a 8mm 217.

@@philipbrutz2175 Wow! I really would like to have this. I am doing freemotion embroidery and did not find a good feet for this. I have to adapt one but not the best. Thank you very much!
What a treat, watching a complete teardown of my favorite sewing machine ever. I would love to have one of these. Even the global one. i would prefer one of these though. The first time i saw a 217 satin stitch, I was hooked. Thank you
how do you get it to do 3-step zig zag?
This 217 does not have a cam reader. To make a 3 step zigzag you need to get a 217 that has a cam reader on the back of the machine and a cam that is designed to make a 3 step zig zigzag. Here is a 217 clone that is capable of making a 3 step zigzag:globalsew.com/product/zz-217-series/
Best tutorial tbh! Tyyyy💕💕💕
Thank you.
Great Video!
Thank you
Great stuff, Philip! Thank you!
Thank you
Nice ❣️❣️
Thank you so much for sharing this, especially in these sad times. The clip is very educative and really makes me want to take better care if my machine. And thank you for clarifying that sewing over pins is not a smart thing to do :) Makes sense when you think physics.
Good work sir
Where can i buy the needle bar clamp/5mm block and 2mm forked gauge?
It is almost impossible to find original Bernina tools. You might want to try improvising using a machinist 5mm gage block and a Clamping Two-Piece Shaft Collar, for 6 mm Diameter, Black-Oxide 1215 Carbon Steel www.mcmaster.com/6063K13
Nice Job, I am surprised at the amount of bias tape that makes. Thanks
No kidding.. lol never need to worry bout bias tape ever again! I found this video from ur playlist, great stuff to know. So thank you I keep learning new things because of ur help. Also that birdhouse was badass! Keep up the awesome work you do!
Wow, what an amazing job on such a complicated and beautiful crown. Well done xxx
Merci Corinne
Are the 217 parts still available (real Bernina parts).
No. You can sometimes find new old stock parts on EBay but they are rare and expensive. Global Industrial Sewing in the Netherlands makes good quality clones of the 217. You could try them for parts: globalsew.com/global-spare-parts/
This is a very helpful video. Thank you so much. Do you have a source to purchase adjustable stands for the fosshape mounts? I need to create 5 identical mounts. Also a source for ethafoam? I can access foam board insulation. Would that be advisable or not? Have you tried expanding foam, like used in houses, to seal in the bottom of the form? Do you think it might work? Thank you.
We use IV stands if we need to roll them around. @@philipbrutz2175 Thank you for your response! I don't want a rolling stand. What we need is a simple rectangle or circle base for each of the mounts and a height adjustable pole. Any good sources you use for this?

I just got a KL 117 with a few issues. First, I need to figure out how to adjust the needle bar to center the needle in the stitch hole from left to right. It centered front to back. It sews a very straight stitch, but the needle is not in the middle of the stitch hole and is slightly off to the left of center (1-2mm). Also, the "Needle Position Lever" will not go to the right side, it only flips between left and near middle. Any advice? Thanks!!
Try turning the knob on the back of the machine.
@@philipbrutz2175 That's the Needle Position Lever, but it won't turn properly as I mention above. It only goes left to almost center. It will not put the needle to the right.

Can you suggest me a good rotary hook I can buy from the internet except fo ebay? There are so many options. And is there any video of changing bernina 217 rotary hook like a tutorial? I could not find any video but may be there is a tutorial for another machine which exactly has the same rotary hook changing process.
