Let's make some mistakes and learn from them. Springfield XD 40 leather holster build. Modified a pattern I found on google. Wet forming is at the end of the video. Raw vegtan, dyed with english bridal, then oiled. oaktreeleatherworks

The Black Skull. Handmade wallet.
Making my first holster now. Not gonna dye it. Gonna keep it kinda natural looking. I plan on this one getting beat up. If this one holds I’ll make it out of nicer leather and take my sweet time.
You should try Weaver Leather Supply Chicago Screws. They come with a Hex driver hole in the cap. It’s much easier to tighten.
Beautiful!
I love this bag, love this video...the squeak of that leather is a sweeter sound than a lullaby sung by my momma...Thanks
Love it. Been thinking of getting into making myself holsters. I wanted to see what the basic tools are, without wasting money on unnecessary things. Thanks for the video, good looking work.
Some of the best sounds on earth: thundering fireworks on the Fourth of July, the closure of the old wooden summer screen door and the squeak of leather...Great Cylinder Bag, great video ~ thank you!!
Thank you! I have 2 projects coming up. It's been awhile. One is commissioned! One is for me.
Wow ! Great job . Love this Video . 🔫
Of you hit it with your truck you're gonna break your truck. 😂
That's a damn quality looking bag man. 👍
is that 4-5oz?
What thickness is the leather your using?
Can you show how you attached the D-clamp binder to your leather in your full length video? This is a beautiful piece of functional art. Hope to see more.
I may have the footage. I have been very busy the past month and have been needing time to edit it. Soon. Hopefully next weekend.
@@oaktreeleatherworks Thanks!
Was that a fucking 300 prong stitch punch😂
I have a 20 prong, and a 15. Kevin Lee Chisels. Cost me a ton but well worth it.
So that's grip tape on the square? Good thinking.
It helps. But it's also a hindrance. It can easily scratch the leather.
It's anti slip tape for stairs. Grip tape would work too. Same thing except the size. Stair tape comes in a smaller roll.
damn!!! that is so slick $$$$$$
Thank you!
You can't "hide" the quality of work here 😁
I have to edit the full length video still. There are some mistakes. I'm going to pt a disclaimer in the full video.
@@oaktreeleatherworks bro they were making a leather pun
Cool as hell
Why is the water soapy?
I've just always added it. Monkey see, monkey do.
motorsaicl begs ..) ai ?? corny ..:(
Классная работа. Очень интересно смотреть за работой мастера.
I wouldn't call me a master. But I thank you for the kind words.
@@oaktreeleatherworks любой человек кто может что-то сделать своими руками уже мастер. Удачи.
It's nice to follow a leatherworker who doesn't have all the fancy tools. Makes me feel like I can do quality craftsmanship in my cold garage using hands, basic leather tools, and whatever other tools I have available in the garage. Kudos to the wine bottle wet mold!
Haha! I've got some really expensive tools that I use. But that's just cuz I'm a but of a tool snob. However, all the tools I have are just nice versions. The inexpensive stuff does the same job. Just not as smoothly. Thank you very much for the kind words.
Круто 👍 хочу также научиться делать!
Согласен. Супер. Пупер.
Excellent job. The belt around your waist curves it even more, doesn't it? How does the gun feel coming out and going into the holster when you're wearing it?
Have yet to put it on. Mostly, I just wanted to see if I could make one. I have a different piece I carry. Strange, I never even thought about putting it on. Lol! It just went up on the shelf with all the other projects I've made. I'll have to check it out in the morning.
Thank goodness finally a video without some annoying ass music playing in the background! Id but rather watch a video with natural noises of the work being done. Commentary is even better but anything but the dreaded music.. 😖 Great video though lol and thanks for not making us endure the dreaded background music! 🥴
Yeah, I was wondering if that was a negative factor.
New subscriber. Excellent project. I watched both series.
Thank you!
Beautiful bag. Color contrast. Excellent video production. What size tread & leather did you use ? Thanks
.8 mm flat waxed synthetic linen thread. And 6oz leather.
@@oaktreeleatherworks very cool thanks !
Wow 1 day i will make same master
I am watching your video from Pakistan do u know i am lover of leather making but i can't afford tools and leather i want to learn making
I started off with a super cheap amazon.com kit. It was 25 dollars. Many people find clothing and old leather couches and reclaim the leather. Old purses and bags. It's a fun hobby.
@@oaktreeleatherworks brother from. Uk or usa import duty is expensive the 25$ kit become 300$ kit with the delivery charges and the custom duty i am from Pakistan i will use old leather but i dont have money to buy tools 😔
U r master
I wish! Lol!
@@oaktreeleatherworks no sir u r master and i wish you got 1m subscribers as soon
Nice project and build along
Thank you!
The end products looks very nice
Thank you! I didn't film all the edge treatment. I want to find a new way to film these videos. It's hard to keep it changing.
Great work! Congratulations from Santa Catarina, Brasil! God bless you!
Thank you very much!
Para sujetar las correas en su sitio utiliza cinta de doble cara para que no se mueva mientras lo preparas para coser. Y pon remaches en las hebillas en vez de tornillos resulta más barato. Y utiliza aceite de girasol para engrasar lo.
I use glue sometimes. This just wasn't one of them. I used Chicago screws so that the buckles could be replaced if needed or wanted. I use neatsfoot or mink oil.
@@oaktreeleatherworks esos aceites mas de la mitad de los aceites que llevan son de girasol, solo es un apunte.
Круть ! Класс!! Молодца!!!)))
Thank you!
Спасибо
looks good to me, going to try my hand at making one in the future.
What the hell is "moose snot" 😳
Barg. Rubber cement.
Very impressive. Always wanted to know how to work leather.
Check out Weaver Leathercrafts channel. Chuck has so many helpful videos for begginers. I started out with a cheap Amazon leather tool kit. Tandy leather for the leather itself. Don't throw your money away buying leather from Amazon. The price is bad and you can't feel or even realy see what you are buying.
That is definitely a good looking wallet. Nice work.
Thank you!
Not bad fer the first one ! Learn & live . Thanks REDDOC leathers , chicago
I get bored easily. So most of my leather projects are first ones. Self taught, and learning all the time. Thank you!
Looks pretty damn good to me too. Nicely done!
Thank you much! Next one is gonna be harder. I have one with a tac light and a holosun that I want a holster for.
Awesome craftsmanship…thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Nice !
Thank you!
Dam your shop is monstrous big .
It is! I don't know what to do with all the room.
Estupendo 👌
Thank you!
Very nice wallet! Suggestion... @12:49 don't cross the stitch over the sides; that will be your failure point from rubbing with regular use. You crossed over the top on the inside, which will provide all the strength you need. Also, nice chill music.
Those stitches are more for looks. I do make these without the crossover stitching. Some with the key chain loop, some without.
