Unsung hero, the guy who stopped the other runner from helping her up, to avoid disqualification.
His name is Oleg Kharitonov. He is from Russia. Being the Comrades winner in 2006 and many-many times finisher here he must definitely know the rules. Respect!
The only way to be disqualified is if he had helped her cross the finish. Up until then she could have even been carried.
In case you didn't know, this is 89 km, not 42 km.
It's actually 90km. In reality, many runners don't take the optimal racing line and end up doing close to 91km

This is the Comrades ultra marathon, you clearly don't understand what is going on here.
Its more about celebrating perseverance in adversity. It is a wonderful scene because at her weakest most lowest point her mind and spirit triumphs
