Wood Boat, Coal Stove. - Davey & Co. Hot Pot Stove installation and review
Brrrr! Its cold and Shalimar's wood stove needed an upgrade. We install the mighty Davey & Co Hot Pot Stove from England. Watch as we cut, fit, varnish, and get absolutely obliterated by Georgia Sand Gnats during the process.

Easy no-leak Mast Boot
Просмотров 10 тыс.3 года назад
Here's how i make mast boots! I can't stand all the lubberly ineffective mast boots out there. From rubber condoms and gawdy hose clamps to "boot tape", they all suck. I love the look of traditional painted canvas boots but they can be a pain to make. Here's an easy way to have a beautiful, traditional looking, and water tight mast boot using modern materials!

Easiest way to remove wood plugs/bungs from woodwork
In the rocky mountains, we use long sleeves 😂
Holy shit dude. Im feeling for you right now. No seriously. I'm itching like a mufuka! The sound and the anxiety in your voice is intense. I'm just listening as I work on my boat in the slip and it has definitely accelerated my heart rate.
after the Tally ho, I look nouw
I like your peterson, i had that model in 1969..🥸
Save money spend $10 or $15 k on the boat.
i have a 42 foot troller built in 1927 28 greay boat but needs a boat worker uou should take a vacation to sitka ak and make a video and help a newb with his boat.
Free boat is an oxymoron
People complain about time and money , ok but why is it every time you see a post of someone restoring an old wood sailboat , they’re always smiling. There’s a lot to be said about accomplishing something that’s so gratifying. To see all your effort , oh and money end up in a thing of beauty. I think I’m trying to justify myself. 75 years old and just bought back an old 49 ft sloop 70 years old I owned 35 years ago. Not nearly as bad as this. Still in the water but needs lots of time.
I had a 38’ double ended boat that I bought from a guy who was desperate to sell. She was a Shetland Bus used in the last war to ferry people from Norway to Shetland . When I got her she needed lots of work, 21 new planks to the starboard and a new keelson. Unfortunately, I ran out of money and had to sell her. Built in Norway during the war as a fishing boat and was called “Roal”. With the Bowsprit she was 55’ total and weighed in at around 17 Tonnes. I really enjoyed working on her and really miss the pleasure I got. Enjoy your boat, she looks great, it’ll be hard work but with love and respect you’ll win in the end.
Lookin great Dude
One thing I don't understand. This is a wreck ok.... so who turned those fans on and from what they cought the elettricity to run ? 🤔
23:54 I thought old, wooden yachts and WASPs went hand in hand! Very informative video, I'll definitely be coming back to a rewatch.
This is very clever, thank you so much for sharing!
Too many words, boat build, blah blah.
It's saveable.
I don't see a 12-pack on that table!
I enjoy watching wooden boat repairs from people and shipwright’s and i’m glad you are posting videos but a couple of suggestions, I agree with many people who have been asking for videos of your boat both inside and out l, the other thing is 2:46 your smoking is a bit much and think it hurts your videos in all honesty. Thanks for posting your videos! !
And rather than lighting your boat ON FIRE, just put some water on the dent and put an iron on it. 🤡
Yeah, geez, protect that pristine deck. 💩🤣
MORE VIDEOS PLEASE! Most underrated channel on youtube.
Many hearts are filled with joy by wooden boats off distant shores, but many more have broken souls and bank rolls, sure, justing sitting dry on creaking poles.
Thumbs up for safety 👍
I miss cigar\pipe smoking, getting something interesting done Wyllville! I’m hoping for a new video and update on whats been going on.
i hope it found a new custodian! who will get her back it all her glory.
Have a care with that white paintas it is probably white lead.

Your stove is the Fatsco Tiny Tot, Model 400, which is available new from the Michigan based manufacturer for $229:00, plus insurance and shipping! The Marine Grade Stainless Steel Stove Body, Part No #419-S, is also available new from the manufacturer for $36:00. Likewise, the Cast Iron Grate, Part No #408, is available new from the manufacturer for $15:00. Fatsco Stoves manufacturers each individual component of their stoves and makes them available to customers, in the event that something may get damaged or misplaced. For $51:00 plus shipping your stove would have been up and running like new! I imported the lovely Fatsco Pet Stove, Model 450, to the UK, and being able to obtain any single component of the stove is good, as my stove will most certainly outlive me! Fatsco Stoves were designed to burn charcoal, but will obviously also burn anything combustible, such as found wood, pressed stove logs, etc. I don't know of any other high quality stove, made from high grade components, which is as affordable as the Fatsco Stoves. There was a woman living in a 24' vintage travel trailer in the Michigan winters whose sole source of heating was her 9.5" high Fatsco Pet Stove (the little brother to the slightly taller Tiny Tot Stove). It was all she needed! I hope this information helps, Fatsco were great to deal with and their information may be had via their fatscostoves.com PDF. I have no connection to Fatsco other than as a very happy buyer of their wonderful little Pet Stove.
Take note my friend- some day that flue pipe is going to get red hot from a flue fire and could catch nearby combustibles unless you have radiation shields in place! I have been a wett certified wood heater installer /Sweep/Inspector for many years. If your nearby combustible walls are too hot to touch they WILL catch fire at some point! Currently retired. cheers from Canada
thanks for straightforward and to the point demo!
Ferro sheathing could save this old boat and have her back in the water in a couple months. Then most of the rest of the repairs could be conducted while in the water. At some point, if it mattered that much to the owner, later the sheathing could be removed and her restored to original condition (that is, if he or she wasn't just having to much sailing her and enjoying a trouble-free, watertight bottom).
What is happening? I would love to see some updates on your boat refit. Any chances?
I believe it's good enough to save. Considering the history and the age. Good solid bones
A dremel could save you time while engraving
That was great video thanks
Someone offers you a free wooden boat. You should run very quickly very far.
did anyone take it? what happened? great video-enjoyed it-thx.
i need more information on sv joybird miami ... p.o. box 5133 nikolaevsk, alaska 99556
I love that you set up the planer with the lock facing the camera after it was fixed lol.
Really cool, I have never seen a stove like this. Top loading makes a ton of sense on a boat
Watching this as the video is two years old. Would love to get an update on the project. Should be completed by now?
Perfectionist love it
Well, I've bought an Iroko hulled 36ft Frans Maas Breeon with a fit and finish you can only get with a solid wooden sailing yacht. Only problem is that the hull is partially rotted (she was built in 1962). I was wondering if you might know the easiest way of restoring her as an added problem is her iroko hull was built around a metal frame which is rustling away. Could I sheath the iroko with epoxy? Or shall in dig out the rot remove the metal frames and start from the beginning? Great channel Richard
Great video. Pretty much like a tutorial!
Has you not putting the barometric damper back in had any negative consiquences?
First thing is a very friendly bank manager or a small to medium lotto win.
Did the heat end up following the bolts through the heat shield and into the wood beneath it? You would think it a bad idea to puncture the heat shield
The top looks crooked. I like the system though.
