I like the idea of the word "ecosystem" more than the word itself. I'm going to need to sit to sort out why. In other news, I chuckled when JJ mentioned entrepreneurs thinking about the value they bring to their customers but not necessarily the local economy: I know I add GREAT value to my local and larger economy (as a low-wage caregiver) but the economy doesn't recognize it! 😄 (As as aside, 52 million Americans provided unpaid care in 2020. Caregivers contribute hundreds of millions of unpaid care to the economy every year.)

"Team player" is a term that has long sat funny with me, because it felt like if I didn't conform to what others wanted of me, I wasn't a team player. I hadn't thought about it like Jules does, as in it can limit people's thinking to that of a role vs. collaborating in whatever capacity to get a job done.

As someone who's slowly building people- and planet-loving business, I love the idea of a certification that's less burdensome--but no less reflective of a commitment to social impact--than what B Corporation status requires. I just joined the youB community and look forward to connecting with other like-minded folks.

I not only love Annette's spirit but what she's saying. Kudos to her for staying true to her heart and producing in Africa though China would cost less.

I love Danielle's "there's plenty of pie" way of looking at things: "I think there's room for everyone at the table especially now that we've got e-commerce as a possibility... . The more businesses we have that are doing the types of things we're doing, that just now makes us a go-to spot for people who want that kind of thing."

I can't even imagine the satisfaction of building enduring structures for people to enjoy. When I hit the lotto, I'll be coming to work with you Will 😊

I'm late commenting on this podcast since I listened, but I so enjoyed it. Dionne is a beautiful soul and I giggled when she said if she could sew it and it was legal, she'd make it 🙂. Also, I was feeling what she was saying about getting nudged to do public speaking.

Another great conversation. I love Joe's analogies and one particularly hit home with me: I'm SLOWLY building a media company that last week I likened to my home. Should I ever sell to a company with other outlets, I now know to shift into thinking my house is like an apartment once it gets acquired. Thanks Joe!

This conversation spoke to me on so many levels, from settling into changes in my body to normalizing things many of us are dealing with to launching a fashion brand knowing there was much I didn't know. And at 55. I'm working on the website for said brand and tell the story about searching for a shirt I couldn't find, so I had made for myself and am making locally in tiny batches for others. My issue was being "pregnant" with seven pounds of fibroids, but too small-chested to fill breast area of maternity shirts. When I worked with my designer, I told I wasn't trying to build the next big fashion brand but to make shirts as tools. Namely, as conversation starters not only about fibroids but also fair fashion manufacturing and community development.

Ooo wee. I wanna nurture a psychologically secure workspace like Zach is doing. I couldn't be less of an IT kind of person but Hook Security sounds like my kind of place! Congrats.
