CYLINDER HEAD REMOVAL WITH SPANNER TOOL
This one is for the Kentucky Trapper....fellow fisherman😀
That shaft has seen better days.
shaft wasnt that bad as its about cost effective, not feasable to machine a rod on this one and the customer doesnt want to spend 2500.00 for new one...
Amazing how tight some of those gland nuts get, excellent job!!
Excellent job!!
Great video man, next time you make a video if you don't mind show one of those carts you have that jack on, looks very handy, I've got a hydraulic shop myself in Kentucky, thanks..
ok i will give me a couple....
Great info, thanks..
I really like that jack stand cart, gotta build me a few of those, great video, keep'um coming..
I use a boring bar with hss the same width as the grove, work's great, great video, keep'um coming.
Great info, i use the loaded u-cup 99% of the time, those double lipped u-cups are pricey and no better from my experience..
Excellent job!!
Great info, thanks..
John deere has some jack cylinders like that, pain sometimes..
yes ive done a few of those, these ones are really a pain in the ass...
Gotta built me one of those!!
real handy especially cat cylinders, i built a previous one using a torque hub .... this one with table was 30k
Make our job 10 times harder!!
yes and btw love kentucky been looking over there LOTS OF FISHING!
How did it go? Do you test these size cylinders at working pressure for leaks? If yes, I assume you have a massive hydraulic pump for it
Not done yet waiting on expensive seal kit we will do several type tests to show yes this requires alot of oil....
Nice machine
how to give everyone in 10 miles a head ache !
please provide your proof of claim? i have no neighbors within 10 miles, the oil instantly vaporizes.....you must constantly have a headache due to all the diesel trucks on the road and im curious about your "jabs" if you beat it down in line to get them all like a good little obedient citizen?
Thanks for sharing
Definitely a tough nut, first time seeing a hydraulic nut buster, great job.
it was a failure as it wiped out the threads getting it apart, sometimes it happens...
Is the pin parallel or tapered?
straight pin..
Just watched Kurtis at CEE make a custom drive socket for one of those machines. Sure he said can generate up to 50000 lbf of torque to loosen caps? Hell of a machine.
the machine cost 30k 25 years ago, its needed especially for cat cylinders and yes you can be creative and fab different jigs..
You could use a flexible ceramic heating pad wrapped around the threaded end of the barrel. These are run/controlled by a normal welding machine. It would expand the barrel without much danger of fire like a torch would. Not that expensive, most large welding supply companies can direct you.
sometimes you have to do a cost vs. repair time...
Naucz się fachu a póżniej kręć filmiki patałachu.
Cómo puedo sacarlo si la punta de la guía esta dentro del cilindro
Looks like a pretty decent cylinder bench. Is it shop built or did you buy it?
Bought it 20 years ago from a company whos owners used to do hydraulic repair 30k a must for serious repairs and cat equiptment....
That little stand to hold the ram up is a good idea. I will be copying that. Never too old to learn something from somebody
aluminum 1/4 material for no mar on chrome rods
It'd be nice if they all came out like that but with rust and corrosion the ones I've worked ok seldom do.
most of time pain in butt
I think a bonus would be in order if you save the customer 10,000 dollars.
did not work out btw
@@LOWBROW369 Why didn't it work out? You said you didn't care if you ruined the gland and barrel because you had a spare one with no rod or piston. I just made my own hydraulic cylinder bench to work on our own cylinders. Tried it out for the first time yesterday, worked pretty good but it wasn't anything near as big as you're working on. I only used 1/2" plate for most of the stuff so I don't know how well it'll hold up in the long run.
@@codyx22 It peeled all the threads off so we junked it per customer
Do you, sir, have a drill press? Also, the table with a gutter might be the smartest thing I've ever seen.
Yes on drill press we have full machine shop and we have 6 of those tables with piping in floor to drain oil outside of shop.....thanks
Kinda like watching a monkey trying to $$$$ a foot ball.
A cutoff wheel and cut a slit down it get something to spread it, and it'll come right off. Of course you'll have to buy a new packing gland butt it's better than buying the whole thing.👍
yes good idea, these cylinders are always a pain even getting parts they are metric, the other side is the same way.....
Working on construction equipment for 20 years, watching the fixture twist at the beginning is how bones get broken. I’m surprised the barrel pin eye didn’t break off. Very impressive operation. Best part, no 911 call.
knock on wood i was able to get it out toasted the threads.......
Ask the makers of jb weld if they are willing to advise and put up an insurance bond for 5 million for the loss of life and limb in regards to making hydraulic repairs using their product! Its obvious the cylinder was in for repair after someone used jb weld to fix it. Any decent machine shop would never do that nor would it be insurable either......
You're wrong JB weld is stronger than a real weld
No. Lol
Charlie thats why it was in here for repair, you dont mess around with hydraulics as people have been seriously hurt or killed. No JB weld on hydraulics period.
@@patrickfoster7859 You're wrong

Great content!! We do a lot of similar work in our shop. Love to see the community here on RUclips, subscribed.
nothing happen just like watching grass grow and paint dry
What the name of the band tool you use to compress the composite seal.
SEAL CLASPER AMAZON OR IF YOU HAVE LARGE HOSE CLAMPS IN A PINCH OR WRAP BLACK ELECTRICAL TAPE AROUND TIGHT
Thanks I will order one
Who cares about skin cancer, right? Have you ever checked your welds for porosity? You're ripping that arc out every time. No post flow = oxidation.
We are all dead! Just a matter of time besides i dont have to go to the beach for a tan, btw it tested out perfect....
Looks like CNC. To me. Conventional. Not. Complicated
not worth the time to set up the cnc....
Glory hole 🤷🏻♂️😂
the alternator actually puts out ac then the rectifier converts it to 14 volts dc with the current pully sizes
That music go with the job.
john wick motivational music lol
Please for the love of god stop using gloves witch spinning tools. Where the glove can catch. Yes you get more small injuries... But you loose less fingers.
30 years experience still have all my body parts, the gloves fit super tight. i respectfully disagree with you.
@@LOWBROW369 I wrote this for the following reason: In the Machine shop where I learned, there was a case where the person changed a milling tool with a glove on and couldn't reach the disengage button of the spindle. He then told a coleague to "press the button". Instead of pressing the disengage button, he pressed the spindle start button. End of story: Guy with gloves ended up loosing his middle finger and the OSHA from Germany (Berufsgenossenschaft) tells people to not use gloves where they can catch because of that since then. Therefore please don't use gloves on the following machines: Mills, Lathes, Drills and similar. Use gloves on: Benchgrinder (Disk or Belt), handling material. (Automatic saw is a special case, do as you please, I like working without gloves there.) Thank you for your kind answer earlier, I hope you understand, why I told you to do it this way. If you still want to use gloves on Lathes and so on, do so because you learned it that way and it has advantages. As a professional I was simply concearned about your Health. Best wishes and best of Luck to you.
@@miendust THANK YOU, NOTED, IF WE RETIRE WITH ALL OUR FINGERS THEN WE SUCCEEDED!
You could be the next YT machining STAR. This shtuff is very interesting along with the special machines and work stations !! Don't get a big head like we have seen several people do....like who cares what you ate while on vacation or new teef that make ya talk funny.
No audio.
thank you i will correct and do another i lost the audio still learning how to operate you tube thanks
Let the cylinder sit full of oil at zero pressure for a half hour. Sometimes the leak is at low pressure when the machine is sitting. If it leaks then you probably have some damage in your seal groove. It could be a deep scratch or pitting from corrosion, it could also be that the seal groove is out of round which would be hard to determine unless you set the gland up in a lathe. I usually skim .005-.010 out of the seal groove if you have any of the above issues and problem is cured.
this cylinder works with another one 22 hrs a day hard, customer just authorized us to machine a new rod
Pressure relief valve could be set to high or cheap oil
the customer told me they were running at 3200 psi, note we repair and reseal the cylinders but seems like we are always responsible for customers systems lol. we will get it fix. my goal is to give insight of the hydraulic business and how it works.....
the idea is great but the audio needs to be fixed, the voice explaining what is happening is important for me to understand what is happening
Yes i lost the audio but will do another one to explain, im still learning how to operate you tube thanks for the comment.....
idk if you guys have a tool to make a 3d scan of the object, you could see where the liquid can come out, but i know these metals are dense for xrays. i'm not a specialist so don't take my words for advice, im just a guy on youtube who think it is intersting and want to learn more
would not be cost effective for us as small business
