Farming Together
Австралия
Добавлен 24 авг 2016
The Farming Together team is based at Southern Cross University in Lismore, NSW.
We incorporate the team from the Lismore Node of the Southern Queensland and Northern NSW (SQNNSW) Innovation Hub.
We also support the work of SCU researchers and professionals, as well as local farmers, land managers, community groups, industry leaders and government representatives, to implement new projects, value-add to existing work, build connections and collaborations, provide relevant information, and communicate research and project outcomes.
Our vision is to enhance the capability of existing networks to support farmers in managing resilient, functional, profitable and biodiverse landscapes.
We want to help farmers and their communities build knowledge and skills that will help them adapt to a changing climate.
The SQNNSW Innovation Hub received funding from the Australian Government's Future Drought Fund.

Good to hear the talk turn towards unlocking already available nutrients in the soil with the use of soil microbes. Thanks
Well, well, very well done Lukas and Cameron! Congratulations and thanks for this recording, the conversation and practical images. This privat property management speaks a thousand words. Site selection, considering potential constrains, water availability, drainage and air movement. Continuous production leads to flexibility in markets and resource security and supply optimisation. Resilience from this systematic approach. The strength of this work is due to the complex systems approach and Shelter is a key word, as is the plant diversity and permanent soil cover. It is a ripple effect. After almost 17 years now since I first contacted Lukas van Zwieten over the phone, just 2 weeks after he was one of the main DPI Professionals during the 1st Agrichar Conference (that I had obviously missed). So many things have since come to the awareness of the local, national, and global Biochar collaborators. Down here in Tasmania we are also growing these synergistic elements and awareness with ever more interest in Pyrogenic Carbon. The Tamar Valley Biochar Living Lab & Lighthouse Project since May 2023. Let's collaborate!
I’m 81 now and spent 30 years as a maths and English coach. Our conversations covered all the things in life that weren’t syllabus subject matter. My biggest task was to encourage students to really read their textbooks. I used to spend a portion of every meeting listening to them read texts out loud. Lack of comprehension was immediately apparent. Life’s even more exciting nowadays. I study natural farming and all of RUclips is my coach. I grow on Bassendean sand and grow good vegetables without fertiliser but do use soil balancing for initial mineral amendments. Every day is fantastic.
Such a shame they exploit local farmers and indigenous communities and use dogey business practises. All talk. Typical Sydney siders sounding great but are unethical and harmful.
Great work Adam introducing these innovative farmers and farming processes to a wider audience

How can join in this initiative?
Sure would like a cup of your coffee. 🌻🌻🐝🐞🦋🦋🐞🐝🌻🌻
sooo good!
Biochar is a great way for a few people to make a lot of money from government grants and start up funds. I've been around long enough to know what's going on.
I fail to see how this is a novel approach, but soil amendment with biochar is absolutely the direction into which biomass energy should be going. There need to be incentives though to achieve a low CO2 emission / utilization ratio in the process. I've come across plant designs where part of the carbon is burned for energy generation, and only a fraction is split off along with the ash to make the process somewhat carbon negative. What fraction of the carbon content of the input material would you suggest should be extracted as bio-char?
Excellent stuff. Great to see people appreciating our rainforest species. This would be awesome if done on more farmland.
