What is Meryl's Codec Frequency? MGS The Right Way
Metal Gear Solid (PS1). After defeating Revolver Ocelot and retrieving the disc from the ArmsTech President, many players become stumped as to how to progress in the game. All the hints are telling you to look on the back of the CD Case, but is that really necessary?
How many others did it this way, I wonder?
It beats guessing the frequencies one code at a time, that's for sure.

My first gig. Erm, well, not. But a while ago I purchased for myself the Final Fantasy Solo Guitar Collections books I and II. I haven't learnt how to read Japanese, which is what languages the instructions and tips on playing the music throughout the books are written in, and so this effort is my shoddy attempt. Please don't hate. Any constructive tips would be welcomed, though. I'm not taught...

Ultra Street Fighter IV battle: Dudley vs Rose
I just randomly guess it after 3 tries, i have the original case and am just realizing thats what they meant by back of the case 😭😭 im playing the steam version right now. And just looked at my ps1 copy.😭
The greatest PlayStation one game of all time.
I'm playing this on an emulator so thanks
I called meryl but it says no response, I even got the frequency on my saved,
"Look at the back of the CD case the game came inside of and you can find Meryl's frequency" It took me two weeks to figure out what that sentence meant.
It took 3 years to me
I have the actual CD case which gave us her frequency. THIS I did not know about, even 23 years later. Incredible.
Same here
Day of the tentacle had a anti piracy policy that dictated the you sould read the manual to prove your game was original and in some point questions were asked. When i played MGS, i looked at the cd case as the same measure. I didnt knew that you could do it inside the game. Just finished MGS PS1 CD on my PS3, will try this later.
Niiiiice, They just don't make 'em like this anymore. Took me 2 weeks to find the frequency on the physical CD Case, never knew about this method :)
Brilliant! they even provided a alternative to this funny/stupid CD Case's "anti-piracy measure". This game always was my passion, but now it have my respect too.
most of the PS1 games I had as a kid were hand me downs from my uncle, so a lot of them were missing their original cases, we also didn't get a proper internet connection until like 2005 so I couldn't google it I spent HOURS running around the base and trying things with the disk item attempting to progress, but somehow I never came across this method so I literally inputted every possible frequency until I found hers honestly it was one of the most satisfying and accomplishing moments I've ever had in gaming, it's a shame how the internet ruins this kind of gaming and discovery now with the ability to just google things when you hit a wall like this
I had the same experience! But for me I rented the game from blockbuster. I didn’t think they meant the actual video game case, I thought it was an in-game item called a “CD case” or something. Anyway, since time was short on a 3day rental, I just went through all the frequencies like you did 😮💨😅
My dumbas going 1 frecuenzy at a time ti find meryl's
This is a legendary part about this game!!!.... 💯
*Rip. The days b4 the internet 8D*
I couldn’t progress any further when I first played this when it came out. I was like ‘cd case?’, I must have missed picking up a cd somewhere in game’. Was told what to do weeks later
I suppose that this is the downloable version. In the original one, the first time i didn't realise that the frecuency was in the cd case in deed. And I tried everything, and what works for me were calling every frecuency 'till I find the right one hahaha
Holy shit, someone else also has that Master Tonberry plushie from 200X
Dude you talk so fucking much lol
Love the video, love the secret, love MGS and SUPER LOVE THE TOMBERRY!
You were supposed to look on the actual cd case of the game... Lol but that also worked for me :)
Wow! So is this supposed to signify that Snake reads the disc in-game and gets the frequency from there? Or is it a bug?
I didn't know you can do that. You automatically have her frequency in the Memory List?
I spent almost 2 hours trying to figure out this. After that I ended here. 😅 it's my first time playing a Metalgear game and I don't know how I allowed this to happen. This game it's very good.
have you beaten the game already? If you did i suggest playing the other ones, they’re great!
Well that was some good backup thinking by the devs when physical interaction is not available, like that Mantis boss where you can shoot the statues to disrupt him
On the PS1 Classic, it's on the back of the box the system came in. I did your method, took a while and while putting that box in my closet I saw that the image for MGS on the box was the Codec frequency.
WHAT. I've beaten this game hundreds of times, and I never knew this was a thing. You blew my mind.

i thought he was talking about the metal gear disk
He is talking about the Game Case and the Disc item
Didn't have the CD case. Just went through all the frequencies until she picked up.
Lol same
I was lucky and pull the CD case out the trash
@@pellaria8012 my uncle did, he used too put everything in a CD holder back then for some reason
Brute force then?
Wat
Took me a while (you may have to stand there for a bit) but I can confirm that this works! This isn't listed on the metal gear wiki or anything! Nice Find!

Thats mei ling
20 years later, I'm still finding out secrets for this game.
Dude I called this frequency but she wont pick up
You have to call after the Ocelot boss fight.
Lmao i brought this from gamestop back in the day. Lol I had no case. I had to walk 2 miles to the library just to write down the frequency. 😫
Bro the feels 😂😂😂
MIIIIIINDBLOOOOOOWWW
Wow so it is both lmao
You're meant to check the back of the cd case that your actual game came in, unlike!
That was the point of my video. Everywhere online says you have to check the back of the physical case. But you don’t.
Jed Hawk nice! I still do a play through of mgs1 every few months. Never found this out in the nearly 20 years of playing.
