Philippe is living life in high society and so is his daughter as a result. Unlike Philippe, his daughter has never been subjected to people outside that society, so she views them as something lesser. That's why she thinks she can mistreat people that aren't as privileged as she is. Into that comes puberty, which tends to make teens rebellish. Driss knows where is from and how treating others like shit is going to be repercussed, which would have been slapping her. He grew enough to not go to that level, but was also aware of the fact that Philippe is not doing or seeing the issues.
