My personal 10/10s gotta be liquides imaginaires abyssis and serge lutens’ de profundis. Both are pretty unique in my opinion especially in its niche. The only 11/10 for me is encens et lavande by jovoy - the most realistic lavander i’ve ever smelled in perfumes

Not a fan of clones or dupes either unless they’re for a discontinued fragrances or brands that are purposely overcharging massively. As it degrades the artistry behind perfumery.

My favorite part about clone fragrances is when they clone the original formula restoring the fragrance to it’s former glory pre- reformulation and doing justice to a masterpiece it’s rare but it happens example is armaf’s sillage, which is a pre-reformulation clone of Creed’s Silver Mountain Water at its original concentration, that is why it projects good and is long lasting.

So in your mind what constitutes a clone? Is cedrat boise and explorer allowed? Who sets the standards? Club de nuit intense man edt doesnt smell exactly like aventus but its close like the other 2 Would you turn your nose up at all 3 or just one of them? Luna Rosa carbon smell exactly like dior sauvage too me This cloning thing happens even at the highest level my man

I agree that perfumery is definitely an art definitely a challenge and definitely a skill call my butt I just can't afford $300 for a bottle of scented water when I can get the same scent profile for 20-30 and sometimes even better, but I'm just stating what's real with me. Keep up on your fragrance Journey it's cool that you're learning how to create perfumes

I wear original fragrance and not clone because clone tends to have difference (might be little or huge), than the og. For example i have both layton and dusk. They are unapologetically similar, but still Layton have more robust and better scent than dusk.

It would be nice if we could protect fragrance art, the same way we do regular art. But then again. We have the whole " Made in ..." problem, where some countries just don't care about copy rights, and international shipping is a thing😔.

I am a "Clone Lover", but I have to admit that you make some valid points. With that said, What are your thoughts on these Niche/Designer brands who charge HUNDREDS of dollars, build a loyal customer base, then within a year or two reformulate folk's favorite fragrances thus making them much more watered down (in most cases), yet NOT letting their customers know about the reformulation so that consumers find out the hard way? And then have the audacity to even raise their prices!! (Creed) (ChaneI) I consider THAT theft aswell, wouldn't you agree??🤔 Also, you are CORRECT about the clone over spending issue. Im a victim, looking back I would rather have purchased a few amazing niche frags versus the bunch of clones I now own. Good point tbh

Like everyone else I have clones but I to my nose my 4 main go to's have no convincing clones, at least Ive never smelt a Kouros, M7, Terre D'Hermes or Azzaro Cologne Intense in the clone wars. However, if there was a 99% same clone for those I wouldnt wear or purchase them simply because I wouldnt feel as good wearing. Im usually not a snob, I work at Sams Club, but when it comes to those 4 I wont budge.

Which corporation would it be ethical for me to buy an oud and rose fragrance from? For thousands of years perfumers competed with their selection of the highest quality natural ingredients. So who cares of some conglomerate has their synthetic novelties marketed to the idle rich knocked off? Punk is dead by the way.

Just did a blind buy. I was a little hesitant because you mentioned it had amber notes which I’m not a fan of by any means. I got a small sample of grand soir and hated it. I also did a blind buy for bentley which people were hyping up to be a good cheapie. Luckily got my money back for that but the guess cheapie is one that is balanced well enough to where I can see myself wearing it here and there. A cheapie that I absolutely love is Jovan Musk for men. Around 13 bucks USD

What a horrible video. You need a lesson in economics. Product copying is something that literally every company does. We don’t care about that. And no one cares about corporate profit either. What we do care about is getting a good fragrance (we rely on influencers) at a cheap price. If others wants to buy expensive fragrances, go for it. But you’re an arrogant prick for trying to shame those of us who love clones.

Stop charging $200 for 2oz of alcohol and there wouldn’t be a need for clones. Also most of the frags I buy as clones I would never buy if not for the clone. If they sold 10-20mls of frags I would buy it. I don’t need 100mls at $250.

"Cloning a fragrance is stealing." You don't understand the law. Simple as. You cannot protect a scent. You don't own any smell. Period. It does not matter one bit how long it takes to make a scent. it doesn't matter how many people it took to create a scent. The smell. the literal smell. You don't own. You own the trademark and the design of the packaging. You can protect that. You can't protect the smell. A perfume is a scent. It is NOT music. It is not a Gucci brand. That is a trademark. Scent you can't protect a smell. Simple as. You have to learn the law. And where your analogy falls apart is music is protected by copyright. Brands are protected by trademark as are the brands that make fragrances. You can't put the Dior brand on your product. That is NOT the same as the scent. You caan protect the bottle design with a design patent, you can protect the packaging with and the logos with trademarks. It is not the same with the scent. And the scent is not music, it's not like your creative writing. It's not homework or an essay, it's not a movie. You don't own the smell. And you can't steal it.

Finally someone talked about it. The problem isn’t that perfumes might be similar, the problem is how they are promoted. Every fragrance influencer just says that this new fragrance is a clone of ‘blahblah’ and sells just for 30$. There are plenty of amazing cheap fragrances that aren’t promoted as copies of some designer/niche fragrances.

The majority of people who disagree and worship clones are those who financially can’t afford the original, like cheap crap, don’t appreciate artistry, have zero understanding of perfumery, and I could keep going but my point is made. I got into making fragrances a year and a half ago and now that I’m ready to sell my own, my appreciation for the “luxury” fragrances are on another level. You can’t make an Aventus or Ombre Nomade for less than 50$ a bottle using the ingredients they’re using, it’s just not possible. Knowing that, I disregard the majority of fragrantica and YT fragcom reviews - they’re nonsensical.

Erba pura is disgusting it’s super synthetic fake fruit note I had to scrub it off my hand. All xerjoff fruit notes is fake and horrendous. Smell ok at first but then you realize it stay around to long.

You hate clones because you hog corporate balls. I hate clones because they smell like dogshit. We are not the same.

can't say i'm surprised that 90% of the comments completely missed the point. seems like most of them just feel attacked because they fell victim to some "fragrance reviewer" (salesperson) and bought the clone they were paid to promote that week.

If they made their products more affordable, then they wouldn't have the problem of clones, its their own fault for being greedy and overpricing.

Original is great,if we talk about respecting the creator.parfume industry itself is problem.each new reformulation fragrance getting weaker and weaker but the company still put their price high and even higher.that's definitely rip off to customer and not fair. Yes,some clone are better in performance doesn't mean they have better ingredient like the real one.and,even in the real one they still wore syntetic ingredient.buyer value different aspect.u perhaps more appreciate the orignality regardless the peformance,price and etc. Most buyer,normie like me just want smell good with good price.
