As somebody who's from and has grown up in Kansas City my whole life and I've been a Chiefs fans ever since I can remember, we don't want that new stadium, arrowhead is the greatest stadium of all time and we don't want an new inferior stadium cause it's not gonna get better than arrowhead

That issue also failed at the ballot because they combined the Royals getting a downtown stadium at a site people didn't like with the Chiefs doing a minor renovation. If it had only been the Chiefs doing the renovation (and it had been more substantial) I don't think it would have failed.

Born and raised in Kansas City. Chiefs have given me more joy than I can even be appreciative for, but if they leave I will never root for them again and their greedy owners and it would be good riddance if they want to move away.

It's more than that. The area of Kansas City that the current stadium in is an absolute whole, it's a pit. They want the stadium located in a place that has restaurants and hotels in other activities and is it safe place for people to go and want to stay and make a big weekend out of it. That's why the Royals wanted to move downtown. So don't make this out like it's something it's not. And when you've got Kansas City Kansas right across the state line that already has the space for a beautiful new facility which they needed for years and the infrastructure of hotels and restaurants and other attractions that are already in place, it's a no-brainer. They don't want to have the nicest house in the worst neighborhood and that's exactly what they would have if they poured more money into their current location

Plus downtown was going to be ridiculously more stupid as it is now when the Royals stadium moved there. Not to mention knocking out some of the local long time favorites establishments to get replaced by owners cooperate friends. KC downtown is a shit show right now, driving and parking wise. Last March they had all the basketball tournaments, live theatre, and ComicCon going on at the same time. Parking was hell and don’t get me started on the traffic from the highway to Broadway. Hopefully 169 reopens before March.

The strong arm tactic is what did it for them. The general consensus was Jackson Co would extend the tax, but when the Chiefs came out and said vote yes or else... that was their downfall. It didn't help they didn't provide a plan, and just said trust us with your money.

They say if we rebuild the stadium then we'll have a chance to have a Superbowl here in KC. It's all BS. No one is going to travel to Kansas City in February. It is our coldest month. Sometimes getting as low as -10°F with a wind-chill of -20 and people somehow think that's a great place to play a Superbowl. Kansas City will never host a Superbowl even if we get a modern stadium.
