    Hey bro, I noticed the Chronicles of Time 1900 and 2400 etc in the corner. You ever finish them? 😂 I am slowly grinding myself through them. Regret buying them but what the heck, try to solve each case every few months. This was when I first got into solo boardgames and went bonkers buying everything the websites and posts recommended 😂😂😂

      @@soloflo After all of the high praise from other reviewers years ago, I bought them but I really didn’t like them. Unfortunately, I bought a bundle that included all of those boxes. If I were to make a list of most disappointing games, this would be near the top of the list. I have Destinies, too but I’m not sure if I’m going to like it either. I don’t mind games with app integration but those games are more digital than board games. That makes two of us that went bonkers buying the same game that we ended up not liking too much.

    People keep saying Arkham, but what if the theme doesn’t appeal to you? Between the three I like the theme of LOTR most, Marvel second and although curious I am not really into the horror theme. Also veterans of these games will often forget what it is to be new to a type of game - how does a new player look at Marvel Champions, Lord of the Rings of Arkham Horror, how will they deal with the difficulty curve, how will they deal with the core mechanism of deck building - their own decks? You need to learn how to swim before diving into the deep. Last but not least, but what the core box offer a new player, how much gameplay. I’ve read many comments complimenting the Marvel core box experience, but I have read MANY fans of the LOTR and AH games criticizing the core box, even with the revised decks, saying how they did not like the included scenarios / campaigns, that you need to buy expansion x and/or y to get the full experience. So that beginner needs to buy the core box and expansions? That’s crazy when you try out a game.

    • @SoloBoardGamingKnight
      @SoloBoardGamingKnight 16 дней назад

      @@TK421-53 I agree with pretty much everything you wrote. Your point on the core box (which is what I focused on in this video) is very important. Like you, I believe MC gives you the most bang for your buck when it comes to content due to the amount of heroes you can play as and the modules available for the villains adding plenty of variety to the core box. Expansions will help pretty much any LCG but as you mentioned, not everyone will jive with the theme. There have been many games that just didn’t land with me and a lot of the time, the theme is the reason for that. At the end of the day, I decided to stay with Marvel Champions and I have collected everything that has released for it. I even have a video (Top 10 Board Game Upgrades) in which I showcased how I store my Marvel Champions cards. It’s really useful and keeps setup and teardown to a minimum. I appreciate your comment and your thoughts. It was a fun read. Take care.

    Interesting oathsworn is so high. I felt the combat was good but the itemization system was completely pointless. You’re just force fed upgrades. There’s no sense of earning them or tactical decision making based on what you find. You just get stuff. And it’s so much overhead to cycle through all the items for the current mission etc etc etc. I’d rather they just take out the system entirely and leave each fight at the same power level since that’s all they are doing anyway. Auto pushing heroes up to the next power level to handle the next enemy is just an illusion of power gain.

    • @SoloBoardGamingKnight
      @SoloBoardGamingKnight Месяц назад

      @@BeatRag28 I can understand your point of view. Personally, I very much enjoyed the way abilities were used. Much like in RPG’s, some abilities are powerfully but usually under some kind of cool-down period. That’s where the tactic, for me, shines brightly. It avoids the player from spamming powerful abilities and forces the player to use caution on when to use and anticipating when it will be available once again. The upgrade system is very similar to other games in which you’re given some options and move on. With all that written, I can see how it’s not for everyone. I had Oathsworn on my table for months and enjoyed pretty much every moment. I did take my time and didn’t play every day but when I did, it was very fun. Using cards to force other cards to move became one of my favorite tactics throughout my playthrough. It had an ebb and flow feel to the combat.

    • @SoloBoardGamingKnight
      @SoloBoardGamingKnight Месяц назад

      @@BeatRag28 also, I wanted to add since we have the option to play each scenario individually, I see why the upgrade system works the way it does. It’s a give and take that may lessen one part of the upgrading system while simultaneously allowing us to repeat battles without starting over.

    I’m prefacing this by stating I haven’t watched the movie yet. That being said, I like your theory. I don’t know if I agree with it (because I haven’t seen the movie). Where is the shared delusion, or IS there a second person to share in the delusion? Somebody else (another reviewer) pointed out it was Lee’s delusion. She brought Arthur into HER delusion. This was under the presumption she was real. I think that reviewer pointed out that Arthur songs songs about love while Lee sings songs about fame. There’s another review here on YT I’ve seen but haven’t watched yet saying this movie is the most based take. I am enjoying the deeper tales on this movie over the more prevalent “tHeY hAtE tHe AuDiEnCe, YoU wErN’t SuPpoSeD tO lIkE tHe FiRsT oNe” take that others are parroting.

      @@attiasprouse682 In the video, I mentioned two movies in particular, The Identity and Glass. The reason I believe these movies are important is because they share a similar thread. Both of these movies are about multiple personalities. In Identity, the main character’s multiple personalities are NOT aware of each other’s existence. However, in Glass, the villains multiple personalities ARE aware of one another including the villain. I believe these movies were very influential in the creation of both Joker movies. The opening of Joker 2 is very telling. We see Arthur walking down the red carpet dressed as Joker. However, it’s shown to us that Arthur is holding his shadow (The real Joker) back. As I mentioned in the video, the real Joker overcame Arthur and when the Joker let Arthur take over again, the carnage was already done leaving Arthur confused. This tells us that Arthur, like in the movie Identity, is not aware that he (Arthur) is a personality. I’ll get to Lee (Harley) in a moment. During the movie, the real Joker is found staring at Arthur in three different scenes. We know that all of the scenes showing Joker staring at Arthur happened during the same time span which occurred during the Looney Tunes episode of Pepe Le Pew. On a side note: Pepe Le Pew is a skunk that falls in love with a cat (usually) that was accidentally painted with a white stripe, confusing Pepe into thinking it’s a skunk. In other words, Pepe thinks the cat is a skunk but the cat knows it is not a skunk. This is a parallel that the movie plays with. In order to be accepted, Arthur (the cat) needs to become something he’s not, which is Joker, to be accepted and loved by a character that gets introduced later, Lee (Harley), which are both personalities inside of the chaotic mind of the real Joker. It’s getting deep, I know, but you asked and I can’t help but see the movie in this way. It’s the way I interpreted it and it feels right to me. While Arthur is watching television (Pepe), breaking news interrupts and we are told that Arthur will be receiving the death penalty. This is where you have to have a keen eye and notice the surroundings to understand this and the ending. During a quick camera angle shift, we notice that Pepe Le Pew is still on the television. Was the breaking news real? I’ll come back to that. It’s at this time when we are introduced to Lee for the first time. Lee tells Arthur her infatuation with the Joker and Arthur is still very timid. Remember Arthur is a personality of the Joker but he’s not the Joker. However, Arthur loves the idea of feeling loved (a human trait that opposes all that Joker is). Lee then goes on to tell Arthur her story, which is similar to Arthur’s past. From there the movie goes on and shows the audience things that don’t make much sense. For example, while Arthur is in solitary confinement, somehow Lee is allowed in. Also, the musical numbers with Arthur dressed as the Joker with Lee. The courtroom drama. The fact that the judge allowed Arthur to defend himself while dressed as the Joker. Finally, Arthur finding out that Lee lied to him. Lee is the daughter of a rich family and Arthur believes corruption comes from the rich. Then, when Arthur rejects Joker, Lee loses interest in him. Absolutely nothing we see in the film during this time, I believe, actually happened. Arthur, while watching Pepe Le Pew, was dreaming a reality in which he met someone like Lee. Only, Arthur is not the real Joker because the real Joker was imagining the entire thing. Including Arthur and Lee. Like the movie Glass, Joker was very aware of his other personalities but his personalities were not aware of Joker (much like the movie Identity). However, both characters had a strong connection desire to allow the chaos within them to surge, which is the Joker. There is so much more I can write about this in detail but this is comment is getting long. Going back to my video, that’s where I explain Arthur as the humanity inside of Joker that will not allow himself to be a true agent of chaos. Joker cannot sympathize, empathize, love or feel guilt. Therefore, Arthur has to go. Arthur doesn’t know it but Joker does (which was hinted in the opening animated short). Here’s my last few thoughts: In these movies the question posed is, what was real? In The Dark Knight movie posters, the question posed was, who is the Joker? Arthur believed money was the cause of corruption in Gotham. Joker (Heath Ledgers) hated money so much that he burned it all. He also believed anyone could be corrupted. Arthur and Lee both had similar origins but vastly different outcomes. Joker (Ledger) always had a different story to tell when talking about his scars. Arthur signs the guards book with, “Put a smile on…,” hinting to Joker (Ledgers) “Let me put a smile on your face.” Lastly, before the Joker did what he did to Arthur, Arthur was found still watching the very same Pepe cartoon that was playing since the beginning. Then, once Arthur was killed, the Joker went on and cut a smile on his face. That begs to question, which other Joker that we know has scars for a smile? Answer the question and you have yourself the answer. Arthur and Lee (maybe several others as well but this was an Arthur story) were all personalities living in the mind of a madman. One fought the chaotic urges and the other embraced the chaotic urge. The chaotic urge, however, belonged to only one and that is the Joker.

      @@samlagos2192 In The Dark Knight, it’s asked several times throughout the movie, who is the Joker? No one knew. Not even the cops or the mafia. The Joker that killed Arthur seemed to be around 18 years old. He was young. The movie takes place in late 70’s/early 80’s. That would make Joker about 45 years old in The Dark Knight. Still very plausible. Remember The Dark Knight released in 2008 not 2024. Moving on to Harvey, Joker witnessed his injury. He was also the cause of the injury. In The Dark Knight, the Joker had several origins. Three different times he would tell people how he got his scars and every time was different. Much in the same way that Arthur and Lee (Harley) had different origins. All of them personalities in Jokers head. It’s not too much of a stretch that the Joker, having seen what happened to Harvey, would also imagine a different origin for him. Both origins involving the Joker. Remember, Joker is a madman. His reasoning is not the same as our reasoning. What makes sense to him would leave us perplexed. Finally, there is just no reason why the Joker at the end of this movie would have cut a smile on his face. There has only been one Joker that has carved a permanent smile on his face and that is The Dark Knight Joker. In my opinion, we witnessed the origin of Heath Ledgers Joker. I’d like it if the director would speak on it. I’d be curious to hear what he has to say, especially when it comes to why he decided to have the Joker cut a smile on his face. Was that an intentionally connection? It would seem odd to me if it was accidental because I’m sure he’s watched The Dark Knight. Anyway, those are my thoughts. At the very least, the movie got you searching for answers, as well.

      @@therealtijuanaman I’m going to paste a reply that I made to someone else. Here, I add a few more insights on what I have noticed: That’s just the way that I saw/interpreted it. Since the first movie, the question placed in the forefront of our minds was always, what was real? We were never given answers and this movie followed a very similar path. We want the movie to be about Arthur Fleck but in actuality, it was never about him. All we know is that Arthur hated the corruption and he believed that money was the source of corruption that plagued Gotham. What we did know, however, was that Arthur only ever felt comfortable while dressed as the Joker because the Joker is who he really is. Heath Ledgers Joker had similar questions being posed. Who is the Joker? (Instead of what is real?). The movie posters for The Dark Knight even focused on that question. The mobsters didn’t know. The police didn’t know, either. No one knew who he really was. Joker himself kept changing his origin story throughout The Dark Knight. Joker hated money, that’s why he burnt it. He knew everything was corrupt and believed that anyone could be corrupted. There are many similarities to the two of them. He didn’t care about power or money, he only wanted chaos. To me, at least, the parallels I watched unravel throughout both movies indicated that Heath Ledgers Joker was the very same Joker that got rid of his humanity which was Arthur (which felt love, compassion and guilt preventing Joker to be the chaos that he wanted to be). The cutting of the face was the moment that solidified it. The more I think about it, the more convinced I am. How old was Heath Ledgers Joker in The Dark Knight? No one really knew. Let’s say this Joker was 18. That would make The Dark Knight Joker around 45. Still very plausible. Whether I’m wrong or right, the movie still left a lot to interpretation. • @SoloBoardGamingKnight
      @SoloBoardGamingKnight Месяц назад

      @@smackdowngod The reason I came to that conclusion has everything to do with the opening animated short. There, we see Joker being held back by Arthur indicating that Arthur is one of Jokers personas. Thinking about the 2 movies I mentioned, Identity and Glass, those movies involve someone with multiple personalities. In Identity, none of the personalities know of each other’s existence. In Glass, the multiple personalities are aware of each other. Arthur is not aware of the other personalities. However, the actual Joker is very aware of the personalities living in his mind. When it comes to the Heath Ledger connection, the timeline, to me, makes sense. That Joker could very well be in his 40’s, for example. In the Dark Knight, nothing is known of Joker. The fact that the Joker cut his face really seems to be the biggest indicator. His posture as he sits against the wall as well as Arthur’s posture throughout both movies. The multiple fake origins of how the Joker came to be (hinted in the Dark Knight and shown in both Joker movies as mentioned in the video). Also, Arthur signing the guards book with “Put a smile on…” before scratching it off. To answer your question, in order for the Joker to become the agent of chaos that he is, he had to get rid of the personality that felt guilt, compassion and love. In other words, Joker had to get rid of his humanity. The two movies I mentioned really were, I believe, a huge inspiration for this movie.
