Good afternoon! I’ve been watching several of your videos over the past few weeks. I’m considering trying to copycat your 2tether system, only not for saddle hunting. I have a Millennium M100 lock on and muddy pro sticks and hunt public land which requires really long hikes. I was thinking about using the same 2 tether method with my hss x-1 safety harness which would cut back on weight and give me more tree options! Good idea ? Bad idea? Wyt?
@@ChetLee-i1l several guys use 2TC with a hang on, it works great. Most are still using a saddle or at very least an inexpensive climbing harness. Body harnesses like the hss are not meant to sit in like a saddle, they’re meant to catch you in a fall. The issue is after a fall you can quickly get suspension trauma. My worry would be if you slip or can’t get to your ropes you’ll be stuck. Also, the full body harness is extremely uncomfortable for the manhood, just hang from it on the ground and see for yourself. My suggestion would be to buy an inexpensive basic climbing harness. It will still be slightly uncomfortable but you’ll be able to hang from it. There is an option to make a diy fleece hammock to use in conjunction with your harness but it comes with some issues too.
That flick o the wrist thang at the beginning was the coolest 💩ever recorded 🫡
Thanks so much for showing your approach. It's much appreciated help.
Nice video. I plan to add a 2nd bridge that will help with this scenario.....can keep it shorter to minimize the slack better. I also want to be clipped in to both tethers. I had the post on saddlehunter looking for stiff rope. With the new rope, I see how easy it is to slide down and want to eliminate the chance of it sliding too far!
I just open my bypass links one at a time to go past limbs.
I wouldn't trust that thin Pine branch!!
maybe not pine but it's still narrow!
Hey, That knot looks very familiar. The JRB Maverick hitch from his own face book page: JRB tree climbing. I don't see where you referenced it's origin. It is the polite thing to do.
@@scottluce7868 Yep, this is one of John’s creations. I put this video up quickly to share on a hunting forum. Everyone there knows John is the creator so I didn’t add a description.
One, you should make your tether carabineer self tending. Minor change, huge return. And yes you can lock that figure 8 at height and use both hands. Also easy, with big returns.
Yep, sticks are not too far from becoming OBE. Good option.
Tks
7/30/24 7:41 pm. Have you ever timed this method or compared it to one sticking on time also I would use the repel rope for my top tether and I’m using rope man 1 instead of the ropes

that is cool!! I tried 2tc and having issues advancing the foot loop. I have the jrb garda and I am going to try it this way! was thinking on using the jrb cinch method in conjunction with it.
It's good to see others benefit from the advantages of 2TC.
Personally, I would've used a bigger limb to repell from 😮
New Subscriber. Try the S.M.A.R.T. climbing method. It works with every climbing technique. Come check it out. I hope you try it.
Or you could pretye two ascender hitches. 😊man you might like hitch climbing, that’s what I do and I use a 5-20 foot pole, set my rope one time unless I need to go around a limb. I use ascender hitches , compact 5-2-3 jrb ascender hitch, for bridges, and 4-2-3 soft bridge for the foot loop, . If I leave a preset cord , if I like that particular spot, I’ll climb DSRT with the garda, either way I’ll rappel on an ascender backup and a munter.

I like it. I'm trying to figure out what makes it better than SRTing with a JRB agile hitch? I definitely see it as an improvement over 2TC alone, which just wasn't comfortable or efficient for me.
It’s kind of the worse of SRT and 2TC, i only tried several climbs with it but it wasn’t efficient.
@@gcr0003 If you're not having bad ideas, you're not thinking hard enough - lol!
Pretty slick, by the time you get to the top you have a nice hammock woven and ready to go.
Funny angle you took 😊
BUT WHY?

This looks intense dude. Pretty cool tho. See a lot of one stick videos. This is next levem

I really learned a lot from videos that show instead of talk excessive..thanks!
Thanks for sharing! What saddle and platform are you using? Can you show a video of setting up your platform and hunting setup?
I’m using DIY clone Transformer 2 panel saddle from Overwatch Outdoors. My go to platform is LWCG ‘the Fix’. I may make some additional tutorial videos in the off-season.
Did you use a figure 8 device to repel down ?
Sure did.
So is the squeeze worth the juice on the 2 ft loop?
The foot loop on the top tether isn’t worth the squeeze. 2TC works best when you keep things simple. Try it out and see if it works for you, to me it ends up being more to fool with.
Very nice. I use 2TC also, but after watching you I can tell I need lots more practice.
How about two separate foot tethers at offset lengths and a lineman’s belt? Essentially the same as gaffing up a tree but instead of the gaffs you have a stirrup one for each foot and your weight is always on your feet? No slack either
It’s definitely doable but a little less stable in my experience with it. Every time I try to add something to the system It ends up getting too busy. Try it out and let us know if it works for you.
SMDH Some people are into humping trees instead of killing deer.
Nice and quiet! Good climbing to ya, Steve
Securing to that branch scares me. Is there a way you do it without a branch?
Typically if I was going to rappel off a branch it would be bigger than what I showed here; however, the wide angle lens make it look smaller than it was. If I don’t have a limb to rappel off of I will tie an alpine butterfly loop in the center of my rope and hitch that to the main trunk of the tree. I rappel down on the one end and then pull down the rope with the other end.
I don't understand what the Alpine butterfly loop does on a rope up in the tree.
@@999gloryhog I’ll see if I can get you a video of what I’m talking about
You can also look at the JRB climbing channel. His "Maverick Hitch" or "JRB Hitch" are what I use. One can "explode" off the tree once down by pulling on a small retrieval cord, but only if you are not hanging weight on it. Clever knot work from John! I don't like the pole though to advance the rope up the tree if during the season, hence this two tether method should work nice and quiet (and can leave a paracord set for later use if I want).
I really like how you're using your Garda foot loop! I need to put in more practice with mine for 2TC... I like the Blake’s Hitch for my foot tethers but they get pretty tight after repeated use.
Nice! I'll chat with you on the forum so 'the boys' can learn from our conversation...
link? I'm interested to see this done with limbs too
I think he put a couple on his channel with passing limbs during his climb? Look a little bit... @@youtoober87

It seems this method is faster than 2TC. Could you please compare the tow methods?
Nice hitch and lots of bugs.😀
I don't think I would use this method for my ascent from the ground, but I think I will try to adapt this method for transfering between stems while in the canopy when I have no limbs in reach or in throwing knot range to tie into. I have in the past just lanyarded in, walk up the stem a bit, tend slack in my climbing system, leg lock the stem, then flip lanyard up. Repeat. Might be a little more setup to use your technique, but worth it. Less energy. Will probably try pulling up the tail of my line to use as the choker for the leg loop. Thanks for sharing.
where ya headed
TVA Land
You can lock that figure of 8, to give you 2 free hands while up there.
nice adaptation using the garda and leap frogging. Setting a rope with a telescoping pole or throw ball is so much easier, used to 2 tc but it’s a lot easier and safer just to climb on a rope, using the garda and a ascending hitch, rappel on a hitch with a munter
My collie died in front of me a few years ago 😭😭 but seeing someone else have a collie brings me joy
I'd never heard of a sticht hitch, thank you for the video this seems alot easier then putting a throwline in the tree. I'm trying to figure out a way to climb a tree to trim it over a roof and I'm thinking I might use this method, it shouldn't hurt the tree going up and seems like a relativity cheap way to climb it.
