Faith Coalition of Forest Defenders host #StopCopCity Press Conference at Atlanta City Hall
A unified group of Faith Leaders-representing over 300 signatories to an open letter stood before Atlanta City Hall today to demand that the Weelaunee Forest be returned to the Muscogee people from whom it was stolen. Mekko Chebon Kernell - Muskogee Chief & Methodist Minister also cited the city’s poor environmental stewardship of the land and the disproportionate impact that has had on the largely Black population that lives in the immediate area.
The group reiterated three demands from the open letter:

Making me cry. Thank you for sharing. I hope we can do something to stop this and bring a lot of attention to. What a great dad you were. This is something we have no control over, But to stop it and bring awareness. I feel all you say as I am in the same place.
Allison and I used to sit together on the bus in high school. Our friendship was one of the highlights during my time there... Mr. Meredith, I can’t thank you enough for sharing your story. You probably don’t remember, but I’ll never forget the hospitality your family showed me. Thank you.
