Dave Day 18 down Kolob Creek slot canyon, canyoneering in Zion National Park. October, 2014. We lucked out, water flow was at a minimum so we could enjoy the beautiful canyon. In Mormon theology, Kolob is the place where God dwells, and Kolob Canyon definitely lives up to the name!

For budgeting time. How much time should we set aside from the time we get off the ship to the time we get off the train in Florence? I would think that the way back is the same amount of time?

You can see Pisa, in one hour I would recommend as time as possible in Florence.

Thanks! Our cruise stops in Livorrno on a Monday and I would like to see Florence but can't justify paying for a guide or an excursion because the Aacademie and the Uffizi are closed on Mondays. I figure we'll take the train and then buy Hop on hop off bus tickets in Florence.
