Thanks for subscribing Vantaa! I haven't drawn in many years and I am hoping relearn to draw in 2025. I was going to start with shapes first. At the moment I've enjoyed bringing illustrations to life with some color.

Hi there. I haven't had much breakage using them or sharpening this particular Kalour set. In fact, I was sharpening this exact set in the 120 zipper case organizational video linked in the video comments. But there’s different varieties of Kalour I still want to try - I have the newer 72 set I need to do some tests with and that's a good idea to do some tests with the build structure of the old and new Kalour sets when I preview them. But, based on my first experience with different sharpeners, ordinary pencil and make-up pencil sharpeners don't work well with colored pencils. The first electric sharpener I had did exactly what you described and so did the regular tiny sharpener. I did more research and found a brand that works with colored pencils and it has 2 settings. But I also have 2 other sharpeners, one hand crank and one prismacolor pencil sharpener. I use all of them for different pencils.

@@JodyMoments plz update on the 72 set, i am also aiming to get a kalour 72 set. Also what sharpeners work well for colour pencils?

Hi Michelle. It was advertised as some unreleased illustrations, but I only have 3 Mythographic books in addition to this book. So I wasn't able to confirm if this is true.

Came here to ask this too, I can't be sure if some are repeats or just look similar in styles

@@kimberlyjeanne9456 Yes, they look similar, but the best way to tell honestly is to take the time to check each author. I'll see if I can find some answers.

Yes, I'd buy those over this set for sure! I am really enjoying my small set of inktense lately and wish I invested in the larger set. You can mix all types of colors together to make new colors when you activate them with water.

@JodyMoments they look amazing in the videos I've seen. I'm kind of a collector in a sense as well. And I don't have a nice Derwent set. Im glad you all demonstrate pencil sets as it helps me make an educated decision. Lol I may have to sleep on the porch if I bring any more pencil sets in my house but hey, the weather is nice right now 😀

Yes I know the feeling.. but what I have found is that each pencil set is different, depending on the paper. So... Ive been experimenting with a lot of different types for now, and then I use up the pencils I dislike sooner than the ones I enjoy. I think we are a lot alike in that sense. 🎨

Thank you! Hi hi! Yes, it definitely made the whole coloring experience different. I dont think I would have selected some of the pages in the Maria Trolle books without this challenge.

Not yet, it still has DELAYED on my pre-order. I wont give up! Nobody in the coloring scene has a copy except the Instagram mini flipthrough post from Castlepointbooks that was mirrored on the illustrators instagram accts. So, I think it exists, maybe they got the dates mixed up, with the european dates? Hoping it's a mix-up and they meant October 9th (9/10/24 euro date) instead of September 10th (9/10/24).

@@-richard- Yes, I got this book early 2024 and it's no longer available on Amazon. They do have a website with all of the book titles. I found some of their books on ebay too.

I thought about that for a while before I shared this video. I think the publisher does not want to upset the international colorists so they will not display that book until Walmart's exclusive agreement ends. That is my assumption, but the publisher and Fabiana, one of the artists shows this book as Instagram teasers so I think it exists.

Yes I'm kind of in that same mindset.... Do I re-buy and cancel preorder? Super frustrating but I hope my patience pays off

So strange: When I Google the book, the search result summary shows a Publication Date for 10/1/2024! When I click the link and go to the page, the website is showing the Sept 27 delivery date! Thanks for this video. I think I'll just wait it out now that I know "it's not me", lol.

Yes that's what I was doing constantly searching on Instagram and other search engines... Figured it was best to make a video in hope of someone sharing that they had a copy. So far nobody has a copy except Fabiana Instagram and the publisher's Instagram. I went down to 2 other walmart superstores and nothing Since there is a hard back book on those instagram posts I'm sure it must be a thing where there was a higher demand of preorders than they expected.

@@back2antiochagain287 Yes, I agree! Ive been in this... Test the brands out and then figure out my long-term sets. So basically any of the ones I am not as happy with I'll use them and then keep my favorites in mind for different types of coloring. I need to do the same with Derwent inktense and other water activated mediums as it gets difficult to find good quality paper coloring books for those types of art supplies. Funny story, my mother told me that when I was an infant I didn't care about eating anything until I would see the colorful froot loops cereal, she said my eyes would get so large and I ate them happily... So maybe this is my older version in the form of colorful pencils. 😂

I'm a video gamer as well! Nice to meet you. Mostly play Smite 1 and the 2 beta right now, but my history is Quake/Unreal Tournament/Portal/Fallout4/Age of Empires/Command and Conquer and so many others. So I can understand what you mean there. But I'm hoping perhaps like you said, they had such a demand, that they want to print more and ship them all to everyone around the same time. Still should be a first-come, first ship scenario, but we'll see. Adult coloring is amazing, and there's all types of video game coloring books I own - assassin's creed coloring book, horizon, and much more. ! I'll have to share my collection of these books in a video soon. Still on the hunt for Red Dead Redemption 2 and Fallout 4 coloring book.... wish me luck.

Aww, yes I hope you get it soon. If I get any other info, I'll share it here. I'm going to another Walmart store today to see if perhaps a superstore has a copy. Going to ask a clerk too. The ETA could be sooner than Sept 27th, that has the arrival date on the Walmart website, but since we both preordered I'm assuming maybe we both will get ours sooner. I'm hopeful, but prepared if it arrives later.

Thanks for the kind feedback. I enjoyed this page so much, I think I'll make some tutorials that are dedicated to this style of art. I'm all about simplicity but I still want some shadows used, as I find it captivating to look at.

I often do red and yellows and have to start over... Due to the tans looking similar to yellow and thans and browns at the back.

Yes... I like the Rainbow and I guess I'm old school in that way, pot of gold and all. :) Yes I like these and that's a good point they are much sturdier than the Prismacolor premiere pencils. Thanks for the feedback.

Yes I think when I first bought some I kept searching for paper protection sheets. Glad this helped. I am on the look out for the fancy ones with pretty decals. Let me know if you find any. :)

Lovely! I have been trying to find some other portrait skin tone sets by other brands. I do like Prismacolor skin tones but sometimes I want to try other brands. I'll have to check out the spectrum noir pencils. Last I checked they were a bit pricey but now is a good time to check as you mentioned. :)

Layering takes more time. I'd have to do a test to know for sure, but I think it takes at least 1 or 2 more layers compared to Prismacolor Premiere pencils . They do layer better than some of the budget-friendly brands like Kalour and Crayola (which is expected). When I traveled with them, I did notice the erasing and re-applying didnt work that well compared to using a Prismacolor Premier. Although, it could have been the coloring book I was using, so I'll have to consider more testing when I review them. I am still trying different coloring books and paper with them.

I've heard nice things about Flowood but haven't been able to find a set. I'll keep an eye out on the H&B too. It's nice to find pencils that work well with each other.

Most coloring pencils (even budget friendly colorwd pencils) do best on the thicker paper, often found in hardcover books. If you are new to coloring I would grab at least one hardcover book as that experience alone is incredible. There are some other books that have nice paper that have a soft cover too. If you share what types of illustrations you like I can share which coloring books have lovely quality of paper. :). Some general examples... Do you like flowers, wild life, fantasy, sci fi, etc.

I haven't heard of that one before and will keep an eye out for them. Thanks for the tip! I found some Japanese made pencils recently that I'm trying out this weekend and will share a video about my findings of those. I do enjoy how different each brand works on different paper and it keeps me on my toes to try new application methods.

That's a sweet deal for them. The 72 Amazon basic set I picked up were faulty. Using them resulted in super bad smears with a light brush of a hand or finger and they smelled strong, kind of reminded me of bbq lighter fluid. I heard from others it wasn't the case for them. Because of that, I didn't share that brand as it can be hit or miss on the quality. Sounds like you have a good batch. :)

@@JodyMomentsoof! Yeah that was not the case for me. There was no smell, they sharpen up well, and the lay down was smooth. If I could add a photo, I’d show a side by side blending exercise I always do when I get a new set. Pretty much the exact same as prismacolor but it took just a few more layers.

@Rich_Larr that's intriguing. Maybe the larger set is faulty or something. I see them for 3.99 for the 24 pack so I'll have to try them again. Trusting in you bruh! :)

I find the shooting stars lovely too. 🌠 I have been working on another video focused on my favorite celestial coloring books. Hoping to have that video shared this weekend.

Wax-based are great when you want to get color down within a few layers. Oil-based pencils seem to take much longer as they require more patience adding multiple layers to apply deeper more vibrant colors on the page. The end result with an oil-based pencil is the colors are much more brilliant and there's rarely any wax bloom (a type of thin milky layer that sometimes happens with wax based pencils). So, I like having both, some pencils for fast coloring and some that are oil based when I want to take my time and relax coloring a page. I would suggest picking up a pencil or two of different brands at the art store to see what you like to color with the most.

Teehee, yes I was horrified for a moment but tried to make the best of the learning experience. Still need to practice coloring moons a bit more. :)

@@JodyMoments bonjour jody 👋🏻 j'aime les crayon couleur j'ai commencé avec avec les castel art et black edition father castel et maintenant je possède les polychromos et prismacolor et j'aime aussi les feutres alcool je possède beaucoup livre coloriage j'aime beaucoup kerby rosanes j'ai commencé avec l'océan perdu Johanna...mon premier livre ,j'aime beaucoup les thèmes de la mer et des mystère de l'espace . J'aime beaucoup regarder des vidéo pour m'inspirer et apprendre... je suis Simone colore une canadienne sur RUclips et Barbara colo qui parle anglais et français et johana colo pour l'aquarelle sur RUclips et toi maintenant 🙂 je fait aussi du scrapbooking et de la bible journaling... j'aime l'art en général comme tu peu l'imaginer je me suis abonné à ta chaîne et j'espère voir ta progression au fil du temps sur ta chaîne et ont apprend toujour façon mais cette vidéo pour un début et très bien !!!😉 et j'aime le choix de tes couleur cest cela qui ma attiré sur ta chaine 🫠 au plaisir dans voir plus sur ta chaîne bien a toi ! richard 😊

Hi Richard. Merci d'être passé. Oui, j'ai trouvé qu'il y avait des tonnes de jaunes dans cet ensemble et j'aime davantage les couleurs dorées, donc je n'utilise pas beaucoup de jaunes dans l'ensemble. Il existe une lavande pastel unique appelée WISTERIA que j'ai beaucoup aimé utiliser, c'est une lavande blanchâtre subtile. Il y a aussi un joli violet bleuâtre appelé IMPERIAL VIOLET que j'ai beaucoup utilisé, vous pouvez le voir dans la vidéo que j'ai sur la planète violette ici - le sol a été utilisé avec la couleur violet impérial: ruclips.net/video/auSwm3NNZDE/видео.html

Agreed, I love the name and it has a pretty cover. I have seen some people use the same colors on the pages inside.

Typically 2 to 3 years is what I've heard from other people that color. I like to touch a lot of coloring books instead of only one so I think it will take a while to complete one book. :)
