170-New Sawmill Platform for Woodland Mills HM126
In this video I build out a platform to move my personal sawmill onto, where it will be raised up off the ground and resting on the cement pads I recently poured in a previous video. This includes first milling some 6"x6" boards from a maple tree I had laying around. And using some of the pine 2"x6" boards I milled this past winter, from Bear Ridge trees.
Specific equipment shown in this video:
- Woodland Mills HM126 14hp personal sawmill
- Branson 2515h Compact Tractor
- ETA-SLRG-54 54" Single Lid Wicked Root Grapple by Everything Attachments

      That's a good idea. I was going to do that, but never got around to it. I have the light and wire/relay to connect to the annoying backup beeper that I disconnected. Maybe once I find myself driving it at night more, I'll make it a priority. Thanks for watching and for your comments.

    Where do you get the rock chain guards for the county line mower?

    • @twc-projects
      @twc-projects 4 дня назад

      Great question. There are holes in place to add a rock chain guard, but after checking around just now, I couldn't find one made specifically by the manufacturer of this rotary cutter. I thought at the time I bought it that this was an option from TractorSupply, but can't find it now. There are several available that should fit, but they may not line up with existing holes, requiring you drill some to make aftermarket chains fit. Sorry I couldn't help with this one. I haven't actually had a need for the guard yet for where I use the cutter.. Thanks for watching and for your comments.

    Thank you for this video. It was very helpful. This is the first piece of large equipment I bought from tractor supply, and I don’t think I will ever buy from there again. I’ve had bolts break in half, there was so much rust and dirt on the PTO shaft, etc. It just seemed very, Very old and it made it much more difficult to put together. Not to mention, the bolts were tightened way too much. Your video definitely helped me get ir pur together, though. Thanks

    • @twc-projects
      @twc-projects 7 дней назад

      These have worked fantastically. In all fairness, these are fairly high-end Paradigm speakers to start with, being used as rear surrounds; these are a line above any models they sell at Crutchfield. So they will sound far more impressive than Bose or any speaker from Best Buy, whether they are boxed or not. I created the boxes not really to improve sound, but to reduce it for traveling into the next room. From that stand point, they do an excellent job. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

    On the gear box.. The lower nut that you removed and wait for the oil to come out and then put the nut back in. Do you stop there and put the top nut back in or keep filling up to the top nut?

    • @twc-projects
      @twc-projects 14 дней назад

      Once the gear oil starts to come out, you stop there and then put both nuts back. Having this type of setup is common on gearboxes in place of a dip stick. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for your comment and for watching. Have a fantastic day.

      Sorry about that. I've had good intentions, but it just hasn't been a high enough priority. This will unfortunately won't be done for several more years, while I work toward retirement. I might be able to get it running before then, but the real work will come after I retire. Then I'll go from top to bottom of this car. It needs all new gaskets, seals, fluids, brakes, and anything made of rubber. Then all new interior. Then paint and tires. It's a massive project. Thanks for checking out my channel though. I appreciate it. Have a fantastic day.

    @twc-projects I love the look, and it looks like the design of the shell construction. I'm very surprised to see that there's no insulation in the interior shell. Have you done any camping yet in the summer? I'm curious if it's extra warm. And then extra cold on cooler nights. Great video.

    • @twc-projects
      @twc-projects 17 дней назад

      Thanks for the kind words. I have not had a chance yet to use it in the summer, but it does have screens on 3 sides, so there is good ventilation for the warmer nights. I have used it in the very cold and it sealed out the wind very well. However, only good sleeping bags will keep you warm. Not sure insulation on the hard shell would do much for keeping the temperature cooler either, unless your shell is facing the sun on a hot day. But this tent is designed to put up and take down quickly, when you're ready to sleep. You shouldn't typically be using it in the heat of the day, so insulation may just be extra weight, extra bulk, and extra cost. Just my opinion though, and I'm not a big camper so I could be wrong about this. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a fantastic day.

    Hello. I have a 26x50x10 and am wanting to put a ceiling fan in it. What box did you use for your fan and how did you attach it to the metal truss? How is it working for you? Thanks

    • @twc-projects
      @twc-projects 26 дней назад

      I used a standard metal deep circular box and mounted using the same sheet metal screws that attach the roof and walls to the framing. My fan was light enough, but you could add a bolt with washer, lock washer and/or locking nut if you are worried about weight. I think we either put in one bolt with washer and nut, along with 3 sheet metal screws, or all 4 sheet metal screws. The fan is fairly lightweight, and the sheet metal screws we used are heavy duty; the whole building is held together with them. Disclaimer: I am not an electrician and this video is for entertainment purposes. So you should check with an electrical who knows the electrical codes in your area. Thanks for watching. I have 15 hours on mine and I can't keep a blade on for longer than 25 min (destroyed 10 or so so far). I took the follower wheel of as well but all the bolts were tight- can you really adjust something there by maybe losen e.g. the bottom ones? We noticed that once you put tension on the blade, the wheel gets fairly solid. Had a friend there yesterday and we made some adjustments again and after 15 min or so we destroyed another blade. I am in contact with woodland mills and they have no field technician. How we should solve that over the phone is kind of a mystery to me.. my logs needs to be milled asap...

    • @twc-projects
      @twc-projects Месяц назад

      I'm so sorry you're having such a problem with your saw. It's been a while since I did this, but I'm pretty sure all 4 allen screws adjusted. Not the hex bolts, but the allen screws. But you should only need to adjust two screws, depending on what side is off center. As you saw in my video, I measured distance from top, bottom, left side, right side of the wheel to the housing to figure out which direction the band was sliding off. For example if the top was a 3mm closer than the left and right side, and the bottom 3mm further, then I would try adjusting the top two screws a quarter turn each then put the wheel back on and measure it again. I'd repeat until I get the top, slides, and bottom as close as I can to one another. Hope that helps, but I may not be understanding your full situation, as I'm not there to see exactly what you're dealing with. You may want to check-out "Sawing with Sandy" on RUclips as well. He has lots of great videos on these saws, and hundreds more hours of experience with them. Best of luck to you. Hope you get this sorted out soon.

I just open 2 or all 3 doors and that fan cools it right off. Yes. Logically, what I did this time didn't make any sense. But, the results show for themselves. I think it just requires continuous adjusting of the angle based on the material you're moving, what's underneath, and if you're using the tines or not. I saw one video where they had a hydraulic top-link, which they kept adjusting as they went along to get the desired results. Maybe that's the key.. Thanks for all your continued supportive comments. So glad you found this video helpful. Mine is a 2019. Mechanically it hasn't changed much, but the newer models have a few more bells and whistles. Thanks for watching and for commenting. Have a fantastic day.

    Does yours make a lot of racket taking off?

      No racket from mine, taking off or otherwise. Do you have the metal dump bed? I've heard those make all kinds of noise. I had a guy asking me if I knew where he could buy a regular plastic bed like mine. He hated his metal one.

    Double check most of the nuts and bolts or you will have pieces start falling off

      Thanks. I've heard that from other viewers as well. I purchased mine directly from Massimo in Texas in 2019. They seemed to do an excellent job assembling this machine, so I've never had a loose bolt or nut since I've owned it. I think the ones sold in TSC or other retailers are assembled by whoever is around that day, as opposed to people whose job it is all day every day. Checking nuts and bolts as a regular practice is good advice though, for any equipment; especially equipment that gets banged around and vibrates. Thanks for your comments and for watching. Have a fantastic day.

    Could a bike pull it

    • @twc-projects
      @twc-projects 2 месяца назад

      Unfortunately, no. It's quite heavy duty. This is intended for use with a small tractor, a UTV/ATV, or a relatively powerful riding mower. There are other, lighter weight products on the market designed specifically for pulling behind bikes. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

      It's been absolutely perfect for what I needed. And it took all of 5 mins to install. Fits like it was made for the tractor, and definitely was made to fit chainsaw and tools. Had I known earlier, I would have gotten it when I got the tractor. Thanks for the support. Have a great day.

      Thanks! Now I feel like I need a giant car port at Bear Ridge to store this, the dump truck and trailer under so that they don't just fade and start rusting again in a few years. Always something to do. The day I run out of projects will be the day I'm 6ft under..

      Thanks so much. It was a lot of work, but even I'm surprised how well it turned out. It definitely would have cost 5K more if it looked like this when I bought it. I saw the potential, put in the hard work, and am very happy with the results. Thanks for all the support. I really appreciate it. Have a fantastic day.

    Looking good Ted! - That's really going to look new once those new decals get on it! I bet it feels great to look at all the progress you've made both mechanically and cosmetically. Also, BIG THANKS for the shout out! Far better painters than I on RUclips, but we all have to learn. Next thing you'll be painting your Porsche!

      Thanks for the awesome support, as always. Definitely won't catch me painting the Porsche. That project seems so far off at the moment. I have so many other things in the works that all get me to retirement so that I can then do things like finish the Porsche. And yes, the mini-X does look fantastic finished with decals; far better than I was expecting. Will share the next video, of which I plan to edit this weekend. Hope all is well with you. I need to catch up on your progress with the challenger. Seeing you do that makes my automotive projects seem super simple by comparison. Keep up the great work.

    Can you put a snow plow on it? Does it have enough power for that?

    • @twc-projects
      @twc-projects 2 месяца назад

      That's a great question. I know Massimo sells plow kits for this, and there are companies that make plows that mount onto these. There are lots of videos out there with people using UTVs to plow snow, but I don't know if there are any about the T-Boss 550 specifically. It seems capable, but you may want to consider going up to a bigger engine. Of course it'll always come down to the depth and wetness of the snow, which is different every storm. Unfortunately I just don't have any personal experience with plowing snow in my Massimo. So I can only share what I've noted above. Thanks for watching and for your question.
