Dean Machine RC

Добавлен 27 июн 2014
This channel focuses on full runs mainly on forest trails and courses in the woods. All the RC’s shown here are my own purchases which are R.C. Trail Trucks,Crawlers,Bashers,Budget R.C. And Premium R.C. My opinion on some of the RC vehicles I drive on this channel may change over time the more I drive and test any one of them! I generally film an entire short run of a RC with no added sound effects or editing and let the viewers hear and see the RC as if they were driving it themselves. In all my recent videos I save comments I make or any talking at all until the end of any RC drive which allows the viewer to hear each RC’s sounds they make during operation uninterrupted. I feel it is important to not only see any of these RC’s in action but also be able to hear what they sound like while being driven. I hope you enjoy this channel and please feel free to ask any question whatsoever about any RC here as I always respond to any viewers comments in a timely manner! RC on friends!

Short 2s bash with the solid axle RC monster truck with the stock Mabucci motor and a Hobbywing 1080 I installed for better punch and more control. I also installed an “on axle “ steering servo that helped the steerings accuracy and timing very much compared to its stock setup. These pine needles and leaf stems get more flexible when wet and like to tangle up around the axles so I will have to be sure not to drive this Trx4m in these woods after the rain. When it’s dry I have no problems.

Mmmmmm Dodge charger ❤❤❤❤❤
My short i posted shows I'm watching your video lol
Awesome! Im gonna have to check out that short! Great news! My missing tank I ordered has showed up. It says its out for delivery and if i can get it soon enough then i will film it today!! Yay!
Even the shocks perform well,on my trx4 sport high trail,i feel like stock suspension is too slow for trailing, works well on crawling speeds, but on trail speed it just wont keep up on bumps, i heard stock is 30 or 40wt ,i was thinking maybe change to 20wt? Only 6h driven, should i give some time to shocks to dial in before switching oils
Ueah a thinner weight oil can make a difference! My high trail flexes pretty well and i left the stock setup. I have drove it alot all last year and it seems it flexes better now then ever. Its not like having leaf springs that take time to break in so the only thing I did was loosened the spring tension on the shocks all the way and its been ok. I could still use a thin weight oil and change up the speed of the flex. Yeah I woild try it out if i wasnt satisfied for sure! Good idea!
Yeah it should work like mine did as over time it did loosen up some too, but maube not enough for you. It wont hurt nothing though to try different oils though! Yours is still breaking in some too so just keep that in mind as you have already mentioned!
This one was $220USD and that is unheard of for any other 1/10 full size hard body scaler that can perform well. My RC4WD was $600 and even my Willy’s Jeep was Almost $400. I think this one is a good price and all it needs is a few upgrades like a better esc and transmitter/receiver and those can be bought cheap. The Hobbywing 1080 im using costed me around$40USD and the Holmes motor was $16 last thing was the transmitter i got from Amazon for $30USD. So i got less then $100 and it runs awesome. These “steelies” wheels ive had in my spares bin and I painted them to look like the real ones did when they had the Camel Trophy races with them.
Damn it looks like premium rc now
@@topqualityfi8216 This one is a tough rig! I never would have thought that I would choose a MN model rc over some of my other full size name brands but lately I end up taking this one with me more often as my main rig while trailing on the nearby mountain. I agree it looks like a premium rc now! I have been driving the crap out of it in the past month. It is a tank! I had it fully submerged in a stream last week with no issues too! Stay cool and RC on!😎👍☮️
It rolled i laughed i am sorry Hahahaha. Great Rig. Best detail and realistic. I am having 0 articulation with the MN78/82 metal links. My cone grinder bit is going to come in handy today. These links will Swivel when i get done with it Hahaha.
Yeah man I rolled it turning way to sharp while hauling a$$ lol! Hehe made it all the way to the end just to do that! Honestly this thing is not as easy to roll as one would think. It’s weight distribution is pretty well balanced and I love watching the hard body on it rocking back and forth when I climbing stuff. Daggone now that you finally got you rig together after waiting for shipping, the daggone thing isn’t articulating! Yep I agree time to grind and get it moving the way you need it too! You will have it flexing good in no time!👍✌️☮️
I bought metal links too to my mn82 and instantly took off,the stock ones gives good flex, and i havent broken them in 20 hours
@ Yeah i would have done the same! I keep having stalling issues with the Spektrum esc I upgraded to. I am going to look onto this as im thinking it may have a loose solder or a connection issue since it wasnt like this at first. It is designed for smaller motors and the one that it was powering was a Spektrum 390 motor. Seeing im using the stock 280 then there shouldn’t be an issue so it must be a loose connection.
@deanmachinerc oh man. I've had to solder the ground back on the motor every RC I've gotten. Replaced the small wire gauge on one. I swear, end of the day they start just grabbing stuff and installing it into these RC to get them in a box lol. The Axial scx24, I touched it and it popped off the motor. I have 2 battery plugs. 2s ,3s. Was using the 2s and deans plug I think shorted in my shock tower. Sudden loss of power. Turn off back on. No problem. Then I noticed. So I made a shrink tube cap for it lol. Just ground my links down. I'll have my flex. Lol
I just took my Dremel to them... It's a WPL c24-1 build. Stock links won't fit. Hehehe@@topqualityfi8216
🤙
Hope you have a great Thanksgiving! RC on always!👍😎☮️
And i like that you went 4 door, not 2 door like usually everyone have
Wow this is such a beauty❤ most realistic and best performing leaf springs truck that there are
Much appreciate you! I went as far as installing the RC4WD “super soft” leaf springs and their “Nitro charger Old Man Emu” oil filled internal spring shocks which really made the suspension so much better and with the increased articulation, it looks more like a real suspension should while flexing. It made it a better RC driving experience also! Thanks friend and RC on!👍😃☮️
The only complaint I have with this one is the cost of RC4WD parts! Man I guess many name brands are pricy and simce they use alot of metal upgrades those metal parts are way more expensive. They do make quality stuff though! I will always fuss about the high cost of our hobby! I still love it and end up paying those prices! If its putting a smile on my face while I’m out there in nature driving one then I guess I should not whine much! Hehe stay cool!
I’ve got to get mine put back together now that I have all the parts.
Awesome! It feels nice having mine up and running again since it sat waiting for the new metal driveshafts to get here. The stock plastic/metal set lasted awhile longer than i expected. Thanks for sharing and I hope you get yours up and running soon also! Stay cool and RC on!👍😀☮️
Yeah your ramp is skinny. Man i would be hitting trees and wrecking my RC. And you do it one handed.
Yeah haha ive always had a hard time using this little ramp!
7:00 HAhahah Love this thing
Ive forgotten how much fun I have diving this! It is powerful for just being on 2s too.
Thank you man!
That thing was pulling a wheelie while peeling out,. Throwing leaves and sticks 3 feet off the ground. Leaf's hitting the camera WAS AWESOME, Power slide hahahaha> Great Run .. Press Pause then 5:35,,,,, That jump was Sick
Wow I have missed driving this one! I fixed the servo on a rainy day a week or so ago then just tossed it onto the shelf and forgot it. Yeah on that jump it went completely vertical! It is very well balanced and on big ramps it shines! I enjoyed making this video so much, I absolutely love driving it. Daggone thing will drift on the leaves!
@@deanmachinerc I could tell you are having fun driving it. Aggressive driving. HAhahaha. I just got back. I hat a wet piece of grass completely twist in the Steering knuckle and jam it. Grub screw on Tranny came loose. Hahahaha i got some good Shots though. And i have the blue loctite this time for the tranny. I figured it wouldn't hold. 370 on 3s is a MOnster hahahaha OH yeah you went Vert.... and Landed it.... Uh One handed.
Love this Truck. :)
I almost re-installed the stock RC4WD brand motor and esc so it would be a 100% RC4WD build. I havent made up my mind yet. I could use this brushless Hobbywing on something else. It is butter smooth!
Nice truck, maybe you can make it fit the extra cab roll bar on this one 🔵🔵🔵🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍🔵🔵🔵
Yeah im hoping! Im looking into it. Im awaiting an email back from RC4WD. Thanks friend! Good to hear from you!👍☮️
Just got a Notice. The lost parts might show up today. The ones the wife got me. They have shocks in them. Hope there better then mine. Should be here this evening it says. Driving with this wonky front end is Annoying. Funny the capable Always running Scx24 is sitting on the shelf looking good. LOL Shelf queen. Excited to put this WPL/MN build together.
Awesome! I enjoy making any rc better in one way or another or a whole build! Its good you have more than one rc since they are sometimes down for maintenance or repair occasionally but having another ready to go is always good! 👍😃😎✌️
Great Trail Run. That truck is AWESOME. That is weird, those lines. GOod TImes :)
Thanks! And yeah puzzling lines on it! So weird as they are permanent as i removed the wires and odly the grey undercoat thise wires were against looks fine? I have never seen this but i know now what to do to prevent it as i will eventually install the new identical body but not have the wires against it. I will put them in a flexible conduit for small wires and pull the slack towards the hinged front of the chassis and that should prevent this odd occurrence.
@@deanmachinerc Either a Chemical thing a or Electric Chemical thing. WEIRD. Only been doing this for a year but i never seen anything like that. OH HEY, i didn't notice till you pointed it out hahahaha But the blurr is Gone :) I am Sorry i am so Weird. LOL
@JamesDirtRC you really helped me see what was happening that i did not know was happening. I seldom film after rain as we havent had alot lately so it was a great thing to realize this issue at the time you did.
Plus yep some weird electrical or chemical issue ive been suspecting too.
@@deanmachinerc Cool you have another body ready to go :)
Ahh i like this one so much🫡
These came out and I had to have one since I always loved the body on the 4s basher monster truck the Redcat Kaiju and this is that same body with few mods to work on a crawler format. I instantly loved it and even more after i have experienced the performance of these trucks with just the few upgrades ive done so far. Stay cool friend and RC on!👍😎😃✌️
These are great trucks. They’re a whole lot more stable if you get widened hexes. I used 19mm wide hex extensions on mine. Made a huge difference. I’ve got a Chevy square body and Bear foot decals I’m gonna turn mine into Bear foot eventually..
I put short hex extenders on this one and it made a difference i agree it handles better with them. I ended up removing them from this and using them on a build that I was having some scrub issues with until i put them on that build(wheels scrubbed the links) and now need to order another set to replace them back on this RC. That Chevy body will look great with those decals! Stay cool and RC on!
The body might be just so slightly transparent that u can see the wires through. Which is also probably why it stands out more in the sun
If only it was that simple! I removed the wires completely and there is no issue with the dark grey undercoat paint that the wires are taped against. The only paint that has that issue is the first coat of the burghandy. As anyone who paints RC know that you paint lexan bodys from underneath with the first coat being the main color of the rc and then the last coat is usually white or in this case thick grey that helps make the first coat or main color stand out and also does not allow for any transparency so light cannot show through as the grey coat blocks all that and makes the burghandy color bolder looking. So I am puzzled by this as the grey coat is blemish free. It shows up even more inside my house with little sunlight. I have another brand new body but before I use that new body i would like to avoid this happening again. So far it has several RC enthusiast baffled with no explanation. My only choice now will be to enclose the led’s wires in a protective flexible wire conduit and not connect it to the body but more to the front part of the chassis with the slack pulled to the front where the body is hinged since it is a flip style body that only has pins in the rear to flip up at the front hinge to access the battery tray. Weird thing! Thank you for your thoughts! 👍😀😎☮️
@ np but maybe the grey “thick coat” may have not been put on thick enough
@ what you mention is very possible and could be it! It could be the gray coat has been rubbed into the burghandy too just enough to change the tint a little but not to the point that i can see anything on that grey paint. Strange but at least i do have another body like this and im aware of this issue beforehand! Thank you friend stay cool!👍☮️
I really like this one, I have a red one too…. On a DSM carbon fiber chassis, Fusion 1800, Reefs servo and Ruptures set up for hardcore rock crawling 🤙
I love those fusion motors and their price! This ascent has been amazing on some of the roughest trails ive been to. It goes with me now almost always as my backup truck when i go out in the mountain. Great RC’s they are! Even the 1/18 Ascent is awesome! Its the only 1/18 scale available rtr that can handle a 3s lipo stock that i own and that makes a huge difference with it as i love it on 2s also but the punch with 3s allows it to break free on some brush and obstacles. I love reefs servos also! Im waiting for this stock one to die then its gonna get either a raw 500 or probably my extra 422hd. They are my goto servo when im wanting long lasting quality and plenty of power and worth it since they outlast anything else ive used. Stay awesome my friend! Always good to hear from ya!👍🤜🤛😎☮️
Wasssssaahhhhh and nice truck
Thank you! This one has impressed me with its ability to get through some rough brush without getting all hung up. Very capable RC!👍☮️
Just had mine out over the weekend. So much fun. I finally got to repairing the rear differential in mine due to shattering them while playing with it one freezing cold winter day. Ended up replacing with the heavy duty open diffs . From Cen racing. I missed running it so much. Wicked fun trucks. Can’t argue at the price we got them for aye! 😂 I hope you are well buddy. Thanks for sharing your fun and a very happy thanksgiving to you and yours! 🙌🦃🙏😁
Yes sir they are extremely fun and no way would i argue that insanely low price! It is absolutely the best deal i have yet to find for any brand name hobby grade RC. I had ordered the metal knuckles also the led ready headlight buckets and mirrors from Cen. I only need to get those heavy duty diffs like you have and a couple things to finish it up. I love this RC. It is my favorite solid axle monster truck out of the 3 i have. These run so good! Might not have the cool all metal frame and 4wheel steer that my Ground Pounder has but it kills that one on performance! Fun RC all around! Thank you and hope you and yours have a Happy Thanksgiving also! Stay awesome my friend! 🤜🤛👍😎☮️
Full on Hooligan Monster Truck. I Love it
Oh yeah this was only a 2s run! This one on 3s will fly and it will end up crashing too hard in the woods so Its about perfect in The woods on 2s. As I always do though, if a rig can do 3s then I film it on 3s eventually so soon as my wheelie bar comes in for it then I will since it is a wheelie mad machine on 3s!
@@deanmachinerc Awesome
@@deanmachinerc Oh dude my Parts Cleared customs, left China,. I seen the other ones are in Washington, Maybe i'll get those also. If so. I will try to get a MN78 or MN82.
@JamesDirtRC very awesome! That feeling of knowing its on its way i swear for me is like being a kid looking at the Christmas gifts under the tree and knowing the big day is coming soon to rip them all open! The tank has been shipped but no updates for over two weeks now so im not sure where its at or if its lost.
@@deanmachinerc Totally agreee. I love that feeling like its Christmas. :)
That jump off the Tree Root was Awesome
This thing just loves roots and big sticks. It has massive punch with the only 550 motor that i have that can handle a 3s with faster gearing and not get hot. It gets warm. It is a Mabucci motor which is a great motor brand. I think i spelled it right.
This Truck is a BEast. Full On MoNsTer Truck.....I am Concerned. 4:29 I keep noticing a blurr Bottom Right only, like the dog breathing on the camera lens. Thought at first light flare but it happens out of the light. I am guessing some kind of Stabilization on the camera settings got changed or Some kind of Environment thing.
That blur is strange! I will look into this. Hopefully it is a smudge on the lens and the sun aplofies it occasionally as ive had a similer effect like this before. Im filming beyond 4k and it is extremely sensitive so fingers crossed its just dirty. I will clean it then test it tonight and in the sun tommorow also. Thank you ! I did not see this while uploading or rewatching which is really weird too. I am going to watch the original footage on my camera to see if it is something else like in the uploading process or youtube also. Never know but Im 100% sure the lens is needing cleaning tonight! Stay cool!
@@deanmachinerc Yea it happened on another video and i thought it was water smudge then is Gone. But it was happening more on this one. Maybe the heat of the Camera is Expelling in the water proof case ? Causing a breef Fogging. Man could be anything. Just wanted you to know. Keep an eye out. I just Enjoy your Videos so much and i am weirdo LOL
@JamesDirtRC thank you! It could be that case and heat issue! I will look i to it! I really apreciate the heck outta u pointing this out!
@@deanmachinerc I am weird and notice little things like that. Been editing Videos for over 10 years now for fun. You rock. Hope it's nothing.
Well i found out that when I sat my camera on the grass after the rain it had smudged the outer protective lens. I know this as i cleaned my lens before i went out and i always sit the camera down while taking my thumbnail pic with my secondary camera. It had rained hard before i went out to film too. I always sit it down on the grass even in the mornings when the ground is full of morning dew. The grass was just tall enough to smudge the one side. The sun would hit that watermark on the lens and cause the blurring. This surely has happened before like you mentioned. I just never noticed since i didnt realize I was putting the lens side of the camera on the ground close enough for the grass to reach. It was just tall enough to touch the right side too. I cleaned it and it seems fine so for now on i will be more careful as it was easy for me to just sit it down on the ground since it is on a five foot extension and after i use my other camera i can easily just grab the big one and go. What i will do is prop it up so its never close to the ground. Thank you👍😎✌️
whats the top speed of this? with 3s it would go a bit faster?
Stock the top speed in high gear is around 10mph on 2s lipo and close to 15mph on a 3s lipo.(estimated guess) I did just re-install the stock brushed motor but had a brushless hobbywing axe in it that was a bit faster. Its not designed for speed but to crawl and trail with. Kevin Talbot had his Trx4 up to something like 60 mph with an expensive powerful brushless system and a alot of lipo power but that would just be a big waste of money and time since it would be cheaper to get a brushless street racer or even a basher that can achieve speeds much faster then that for less money, but its crazy that this drive train did handle those high speeds without issues. I can change the gearing to make it faster or even slower with more torque but i think its driving almost perfectly with the 11 tooth pinion gear on it now. If you look on my channel, i have well over 20 videos of this High Trail with some on the stock setup like this using a 3s lipo. I also have many videos of this with the hobbywing Axe brushless motor on 3s. I used to have white racing stripes on it and many different wheels and tires. I also filmed it with the suspension lowered to a normal Trx4 height with smaller tires to match. Thanks for watching and thanks for asking!
I have another super basic question. My blue Ascent just arrived, and I had my 3s lipo all ready to go...but the plug doesn't fit. My battery is a Spektrum 3s 5000mah with an ec5 plug, but the Ascent has some other sort of plug I've never seen before. So I googled around and I think it's called a male T plug. Is that correct? If so, do I need to buy some sort of adapter, or is it better to buy a battery that hooks straight into it with a female T plug? If I get an adapter, what adapter do I need exactly? Is it called a female T plug to female EC5? Is that a common adapter? It really stinks to have a cool new truck that I can't run yet due to battery connector issues! Seems like it would be easy for the sellers/manufacturers to help out noobs and eliminate these situations by simply saying, "This vehicle comes with a _____ plug. You'll need a 2s or 3s lipo battery *with a **______** plug, or you'll need a **_____** adapter if you don't have a battery with that plug."*
Also, does the Ascent Fusion have a completely different kind of plug? (i.e. an XT60?) So when I get an Ascent Fusion, I'll have to get yet another adapter?
I dont have the ascent fusion so i cant answer that but you only need the adapter and know this all bateries have a female plug (if they had male than if it was to touch any metal right on both male connectors ,like a metal table than it would be problematic) so escs always have male ends on their connectors so you will need a conecto that has a male end to fit your battery and then the female end on this connector will go to the esc so if you jave an EC 5 connector on battery and tplug(deans plug) on the esc then uou will need a male EC5 to female Tplug(deans)adapter
Ec5 connectors are nice alot of people like them and i would like to use them but i have dozens of rc’s that already have tplug style. I bought a bagful of tplug male and female plugs to solder onto any wires on batteries ot esc’s that i need to since I already have so many tplug lipo’s and RC’s. If I didnt have alot of rc’s then i would probably buy a bagful of EC5 connectors (male/female) and convert a small amount of rc’s to EC5. Im satisfied with tplug now thiugh and i would have hours of work to transfer over to EC5 conmectors. These are all hobby grade RC’s so its basically up to you on what you want to use all the time as there are around ten or so connectors to choose from. Oh i always use heatshrink! No question no tape!
It can be dangerous if you cut wires on any lipo too! I always cut one and leave the other on old connector then i connect the cut wire to new connector then i cut the other wire and repeat. If you cut both wires at once then you can short circuit a lipo and that is bad! I did not start changing plugs at first and i was happy with connector adaptors as like the kind you need. It also helped me having an electrical license years ago
@@deanmachinerc Thank you so much! That was really helpful.
I really love the look of the Miller Motorsports buggy, but with having a brand new H10 Optic I’ve never even drove and a 4 ws Capra I’ve only drove once… I just can’t bring myself to get one ( I know I’ll be sorry one day ) 🤙
Ueah its those freaking hard choices of which rc’s to get that drive me crazy! I have several that are regrettable purchases and I wish I would have gotten the other choices ive turned down in favor of the couple i ended up with. I guess a little buyers remorse kicks in after i get one but end up not enjoying it like i thought i would then it sits on the shelf and i look back and say “damn I should have bought that other one instead” hehe this one wasnt like that for me but a few bashers were and a pricy HG scale rig that i should not have bought was one too and thats why I finally bought the RC4WD blue Trailfinder 2 as it was my other choice but got that HG truck originally instead. I ended up with the blue TF2 eventually while that HG is on my bottom shelf hidden from my sight forever! Plus like in your case having rigs you havent enjoyed yet too is another thing altogether! Shoot man! I get it totally!
@ they released an H10 Optic kit today, $210 cheaper than what I paid, needs electronics and wheels and tires…. Guess what I done to my new Optic, yep new electronics and wheels & tires 😞
@ daggone $210 is a big difference! And thats my luck too as i bought two redcat ascents since i wanted both body styles to fix up and then bam not long after they come out with the fusion edition and im just full up on room, I would have been happy with the fusion without having these two. And i hate that for ya too!
@ man that H10 Optic Yokahama rtr is beautiful! And a good price
@ yeah all my local guys got that one so to be different I went with the Sparco livery and really like now that it’s out of the box 🤙
Beast of a truck, love the details, sound, power, whole thing❤
Its been alot of fun on two trails ive messed around with it on so far along with these woods here too it really digs in and grabs anything loose with those 2.2 mudslingers!
5:00 OMg that fish tail. honest, you lost control for a second ? Hahahahah
Its fun in leaves and this one on 2wd w/locked diff will drift on them and it will even drift better when they are fully dry,
Yeah man! Hehehehe I lost it a few times . I get worried im going to smack a tree too hard and break something too. I bump into a few trees on this vid bit nothing bad yet! Lol
@deanmachinerc OMG, yeah don't break it. It's one of my favorites to watch. Hehe. I made a roof rack for my little jeep. Turned out pretty good. Copper wire and Popsicle sticks. I posted a short. I'm proud of the Popsicle sticks. Used a brown marker and made them look real boards.

I will film a fun run out there with the stampede doing what it does best either way! Hehe hope its a cool vid!

LOVE THIS RIG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its a blast on some loose dirt and loose leaves too! Hehehe I was having a good time driving this today! Thanks for watching and I will make some more videos with it soon!
WOW those LEaves and Pine needles are THICK.
Yeah the leaves are unbelievably thick. They are starting to dry some and then i will use the leaf blower only on my main course so I can at least drive my small scale rc’s a little easier without worrying about long pine needles and big leaf stems wrapping around the axles and driveshafts and causing damage to the gearing or drivetrain. I need to bring my brushless stampede down here since it blast away anything loose on its path on 3s and full throttle!
When it is slow crawling does it lose any of the Torque or does it climb at that speed also ?
Im going to setup a small couse outside to show it crawling. It has a high amount of torque, i cant feel a big loss in torque. Its not like having the “FOV” system that Hobbywing has created and uses on my Axe system which gives the RC more torque automatically without me having to give more throttle to get over obstacles. That said this injora is really powerful to the point that I had to buy the kit that included these metal gears designed for this motor and to handle all the torque this motor puts out. I will make a crawling video as i just mentioned but i plan on not having the body on so viewers can see the oitrunner motor spinning and will be able to see when i give it more throttle(thats one of the really cool things i like about outrunner motors) then we will be able to see the motor working while its climbing and descending
I have been looking into metal gears and how to reduce their louder sound. By using a metal pinion gear and all metal gears in the transmission It makes sense to me why they all are much noisier than typical nylon or plastic. I was looking to see if there are methods of reducing the sounds they are known to make and really all the info I found is by using a proper thin grease or any thin lubrication along with a correct pinion mesh then this is about all that can be done. I don’t mind the sound this one makes now and I did do these steps as it was a bit louder at first. The sound it makes I think is a cool mechanical sound. I read that one guy had been attempting sound dampening insulation wrap that is used in car audio and he admitted it helped a little but he was putting the wrap on a much larger RC that had alot of space. My 1/10 Redcat came with all metal gears besides one heavy duty nylon gear in the transmission that I destroyed on 3s. Im guessing they did this to reduce noise? Redcat recommends to only run it on 2s stock, I wondered why until its nylon gear got ruined just a month or so after driving daily on 3s. I replaced the gear with a heavy duty metal gear and its been a beast since. Its just slightly louder but not bad. Anyway I really like to drive it now that It is much more capable. I had a dude bashing on its noise and saying i am driving too fast but i went back and changed my reply and agreed with him on it being noisy. I have to assume he does not have alot of experience with metal gears as they are all louder then any other type but they are the strongest so in this case i would rather have it louder and to be able to drive it the way this motor and gears make it possible. Please let me know if these long messages are bothersome. I been laying here watching youtube in bed and thinking about metal gears vs. nylon. Stay cool and RC on!👍☮️
@@deanmachinerc I like the Long messages :) Yeah if its not a Regular viewers , They get a Thank you....Hahahahah. I see people hesitate to give advice because of the Haters and bad comments. So i got the MN78 axles installed and it is Alive. Only problem was the Holes on the frame for the liinks. 4 new holes and make all 8 little bigger and Poof. The servo mount on axle is kinf of funky. Not sure i like it., I changed my steering linkes like 8 times now. LOL I lost half my Articulation with the Mn78/82 links. They do not move but up and down. Not really a ball joint on them. But it is ok. it is more a Trail rig now anyways. So i am very happy. and with the bearings OMG it is faster and smooth. First thing that gave out was grub screw in Tranny. Took tranny apart and greased it, checked all the metal gears. And we are GOOD :) I need some blue loctite before i take it out to the woods. i will take it outside though. Switched drivers. Wild bill driving now. added a bundle of fire wood in bed and a Dog. ROck on my Friend.
@ Wild bill is gonna have a smooth ride with those bearings! It make a really big difference with bearings!
@ As much as it is important to have grub screws, i dont like them! Oh yeah and im gonna do the same if its not one of the guys we know and that comment frequently it will be a thumbs up! There are alot of mean people out there no matter what!
Was ein furchtbares Geräusch😢Brushless halt 😢und das Auto zu schnell
Metal gears are almost always loud and with the higher RPM this Injora goes its even worse. This is the complete Injora Fat Viper kit with a metal transmission housing with all metal gears inside. It was a kit that also included the outrunner brushless motor. This is the downside of metal gears Im driving much faster than I do when I crawl also since im trailing im testing its ability to trail out in nature. It definately is way louder than nylon gears. Thx RC on!
Very nice rig, you need a leaf blower 🔵🔵🔵🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍🔵🔵🔵
Yep! Im going to get my big leaf blower out as soon as it dries out in the woods some. It will make a huge difference. I also have just cut up two smaller trees that was growing too close to my fence line and im going to stack some more of the cut up logs to make some more piles to crawl over.
Yeah i started making a path to clear them. Got so bad today. Took the wpl c24-1 out on 2s. Man 2s sucks now hahahaha It's not bad. I like the sound of that motor, It's crawling so slow it is crazy cool.
I think its worse since the pine needles and leaf stems are really wet. They are holding alot of moisture and it kind of made the more flexible instead of breaking easily. So they wrap up around the axles easier and they dont break as fast as they do dry. I did not have this issue this bad until today and it rained and we had alot of moisture this morning. I filmed this about 8am too. I will test this when its dry. We will get to the bottom of it! Thanks my friend! 👍☮️
Hehe yeah 3s is a different beast! Although if i was on an indoor climbing course of just trailing slow its not bad on 2s. But i totally get you since once I get used to 3s and then ho to 2s its a big change. I noticed this more with ones that are geared slower. Some of my faster geared crawlers are too fast on 3s and it takes away from the fun too. I like this Bronco on 3s though as it seems just right while outside trailing and crawling. Im still getting familiar with this brushless system. I never had one on a small scale RC and it is a big change from what it was stock. Still my fastest small scale one is the brushed 370 motor on my 1/18 Rock Van. That thing is a rocket and I never had it on 3s. With 2s its way faster than this or any small one. Its too fast and I have to turn down the throttle trim in order to gain slow speed control. I have installed new Injora wheels on it and plan to film it soon. Stay cool!👍😄☮️

@JamesDirtRC yay! your C24-1 up and goin!
Is it ok to run a 2s battery on the fat viper?
There is no issue with this or any brushless motor to be able to use a 2s lipo. It depends on the esc and if it is lipo ready(has to include the low voltage shutoff) in this case the Fat Viper kit that I bought did not include the brushless esc needed to work as it only included the motor, metal gears and transmission housing with bearings. I bought the Injora brushless esc for this setup seperate and it is lipo ready and even came with the adapter needed to plug it into the stock 2s Traxxas lipo. I am uploading a video right now with it on a 3s lipo. I also have another video I uploaded a few days back with this setup running on 3s. In this video as the title says, im using the 2s Traxxas lipo on it. Thanks for asking and RC on!
Ok thx bc ive been wondering if i needed to buy a new 3s in order to make it work well but ig not thank u very mich
@ not a problem! Please feel free to ask anything RC related as I will do my best to solve any issue that comes up! I have alot of people that i can ask when I get stumped and it helps alot! Stay cool and RC on!
@ ok i will u too
Now depending on how and where you drive, if you look at my videos with it on 2s opposed to 3s then you may still want to get a 3s lipo. It has more punch and top wheelspeed but also maintains that nice slow speed modulation on a 3s lipo. All things considered it still performs nice on a 2s lipo. I enjoy it on both battery sizes.
What's the trick for getting these things to turn on? Is there an on/off button that I'm missing? Nothing happens when I plug in a charged battery. It just sits there, totally lifeless, as if it were waiting for its "on" button to be pushed. But there's no 'on button' that I can find. I just bought 2 of these and I'm having the same problem with both. I can't get either one to turn on. Brand new batteries in both controllers. Charged both of the 2s lipo batteries until the charger stopped flashing green and went to the solid green. Then I turn on the controllers and install/plug in the batteries, and nothing happens. The esc never lights up at all. Trucks are just totally dead with no signs of life. Both controllers keep flashing 3 green flashes. Don't know what that means and can't find any explanation in the instruction booklet. I'm about to pull my hair out here. Any idea what's going on with these things? How did you get yours to turn on????
This one is my K5 blazer that i bought this extra body and monster truck tires for but im asauming the stock monster truck turns on the same way with a waterproof on/off switch directly above the steering servo. Its in tough to see spot. I hope this helps! Let me know if it does! Rc on!👍😃☮️
I just tested the batteries of both of my Smashers in my FCX18 K10, and they power it just fine, so I know the lipos are fully charged and working correctly. But when I plug those batteries into my Smashers, nothing happens. Also, when I plug my K10's battery into the Smashers, nothing happens. The instruction booklet says that 3 flashing green lights on the controller means that the controller is in standby mode due to the truck either being dead or unbound. So I tried following the directions for binding, multiple times, and nothing happens. Neither controller binds with its respective Smasher. Everything is behaving just as it would if there were an on/off switch on the truck, but I can't find one. The odds seem low that both Smashers would have arrived with defective esc's. But what else can it be?
@@deanmachinerc That's it, thanks for the tip! I had tried pushing that like a button, and gave up on it when nothing happened. I thought maybe there was just an LED in there and I didn't want to break it. Turns out there's a switch rather than a button. Why in the world isn't that switch mentioned anywhere in the instruction booklet? Isn't that the most important and basic thing that should be included? Why would they skip all mention of it?? It's never shown in a picture and never mentioned in words, and when searching the internet I could find no mention of the Smasher even having a power button/switch, so I was starting to think it just didn't have one. Again, thanks for helping me! It is so wonderful to get a good tip when drowning in frustration.
@ there is an on/off switch above the steering servo on the front axle of the truck on mine.
@@greenfinmusic5142 I completely agree with you! They should have something in the book on the location. Its in the strangest place. Hard to reach but not too bad once you figure it out. High Trail is Always Fun. Looks SO cool
It is really dialed in just right. It just goes and goes. Reminds me of a monster truck sometimes in high gear but man in low with locked diffs its dialed in just right for that slow crawl speed with alot of torque. Its fun to see it climb and flex over the tall stuff. Thank you always my friend!😎👍🤜🤛☮️

This RC is really fun to test the tires ability. They surprise me alot. I like the extra punch the 3s gives it. I like military RCs too. I still want the WPL setup we talked about. I saw the 6x6 by itself on Banggood today for $70.
I have been looking on those cheap 6x on aliexpress, but then i think, i really dont need much money to get arktos 6x,, wich is i believe alot better stock, and can be upgraded, in it the 3 axles really have flex, cheap ones the flex is not so great🤔
@ the one i mentioned is the WPL Ural B36 6x6 with a trailer that has servos built in that raises/lowers the ramps and makes it accessible for the WPL tank. Its a neat setup but i want to know more on this 6x6 you mentioned as I want a decent one and I dont know about the one you mentioned if you dont mind as I want a decent 6x6
@ oh yeah those cool hobby plus 6x6
@ yeah the wpl needs work out the box to get better flex and i forgot about the hobby plus ones that are fairly new.
Nice model but looks like it needs wheels and tires 🔵🔵🔵🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍🔵🔵🔵
Im leaving this one stock, these are the same as the stock wheels and tires except these wheels are black instead of chrome. It looks almost exactly like my brothers silver older Cherokee. He doesnt have roof lights and a rack but his has black rims that are very similar to this. He had a big grin on his face when i showed it to him.
I used to have the set of wheels on it I put on the orange unimog but anytime it would flex while climbing then it would scrub and sometimes pull the black trim away from the body some and it was annoying. I cant stand scrubbing if it as bad as that was. I explained some of its issues I have with attempting different wheels on it in the description. So I settled for the black version of the stock chrome wheels since I knew they would work and it also looked like my brothers old Jeep.
I have seen a new Cherokee i think its 1/18 scale that looks really good. I dont know if you have seen it and Im not sure what company has put it out but I think it is a more capable crawler. I will look into it. If you know the one im talking about let me know if you know who makes it. It hasnt been long since they started selling it. There are more color options too. I would like to try it out and if I remember correctly, its a good price. Thanks you are awesome!
@@deanmachinerc maybe soft tires not bigger and the star design wheels like the real cherokee

Thats powerfull pack😃 its really takes alot power to move in that much of leaves😮
Yeah it has some crazy power behind it. Since i have not gotten used to driving it yet when i get a little hung up I end up giving it more throttle then needed and you can see it pop wheelies coming out of a stuck spot. Its funny to watch it bunny hop too.
@deanmachinerc yeah :D remeber to be carefully with that power, many weak spots that cant handle that much power if its truly getting stock :) but great for trailing,on trails it feels like they dont break so easy even with little bit overpowered
