That is definitely not the "worst case scenario". $25,000CDN each for a used leg, plus labour etc might seem really bad, but the actual worst case is sinking, and a total loss of the boat and gear, possibly hundreds of thousands, even loss of life.
thanks for the info!
I would like know more about marine corrosion engineering. Would you help me
Great information. My wife and i always wore out Mae West and ALWAYS had our hand held marine radio on our body whenever on deck and close at hand below decks. If overboard, it is easier to see and hail a boat than for them to see your small head in the water. Simply say, turn left or just call the USCG. We also kept them in water proof clear plastic bags even though they were waterproof to 3 meters (who wants to risk our life on that working?). We had them on our waste (not around our necks for safety reasons) and also tied to our body with a line. When the weather kicked up or at night we also put on our fanny packs with extra batteries, light, strobe, knife, flares etc. A Ditch / Overboard Bag was on our body at all times. On a sunny clam day my keel was hit once by a whale and in a split second I could have ended up in the water so even on a calm day there may be no time to grab anything so it better be on your body. Keep filming Log and make it great (with links to The Log etc too :-)
