    please hold the mouth close on this process, to prevent unintended inhalation of water. Grab the back of the head and face, holding up the chin, keeeping the mouth closed. Not grabbing by the neck.

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Yes, you have a good approach. Depending on your geographic location, there are around a dozen prominent freediving training agencies (SSI, PFI, AIDA, Fii, CMAS, Molchanovs, NAUI, Apnea Academy, PADI, RAID, FFESSM) alongside with a few lesser-known organizations. While you are correct, there are slight variations in each agency’s instructional methods, including rescue techniques. Those preferences have legitimate reasons. Ultimately, though, the goal remains the same. Cheers!

      Outside of competitive settings, freediving is a relatively safe activity. Although it may appear intimidating, it is surprisingly easy to learn with the help of qualified agencies and instructors. Additionally, not everyone aims for depth as their primary goal. Some individuals partake in freediving purely for recreation, while others pursue it for photography, creative arts, hunting, or simply to immerse themselves in nature and water. 🤙

    I think Aida is tough and I'm afraid to try it, but SSI is even more demanding. 😱

    • @dumagatfreedive
      @dumagatfreedive 2 года назад

      I would say agencies are more or less the same. I am with other agencies as well, but I prefer the education and safety standards of the SSI system. Each agency has something to offer. What's more important is finding a good instructor.

    • @dumagatfreedive
      @dumagatfreedive 2 года назад

      Also, you shouldn’t think of a course as something you need to pass. It’s a setting of learning. Getting you there is a big part of the instructor’s job. So no need to be afraid 😊

    • @jessiecherall5041
      @jessiecherall5041 2 года назад

      @@dumagatfreedive I understand, but it's hard to not think about having to pass. After all, why are there requirements then, and some kind of exam?

    • @dumagatfreedive
      @dumagatfreedive 2 года назад

      @@jessiecherall5041 I totally get it. But I am pretty certain you’ll do just fine 🙂 Requirements are there to have a baseline for each level. It’s a safety thing. This ensures that if you end up freediving with someone with, say, a Level 1 certification, that individual will be able to rescue you even from 10 meters in case it’s needed. It will also be easy to determine the individual’s minimum skill level. Often, it is not possible to be objective about skills and knowledge. Because of the requirements in a certification course, that problem is solved. If that individual wants to further his/her freediving education, certification is also a proof that he/she has the foundation skills and knowledge from an earlier certification. This makes it safer for everyone.

    Amazing ! How do you feel in the last seconds underwater ? what's in your mind?

    • @dumagatfreedive
      @dumagatfreedive 2 года назад

      Other than running out of air to blow, it was easy. As long as you know the basics of breath-holding and can blow rings, this is totally doable with some practice. We didn’t prepare for this although we are always in the water teaching freediving, we just thought it would be fun to try. As more freedivers attempt this, someone will be able to do even better without a doubt :)
