Arenal Volcano Snake Walk - Costa Rica
What do you do in Costa Rica when it rains? Why not go poke around some snakes on the Arenal Volcano walk! That's what I thought made the most sense! A comment on one of my other videos from @jcwatts5000 gave me some motivation in the pouring rain. Lets face it, it is hard to have a rain forest without rain! In this video I take you along for a tour of the Arenal Volcano. The sites, sounds and smells of the rainforest while it is raining ensures that all of your senses are maxed out! During my walk I come across a creature I have not encountered on any of my journeys. Stupidity got the best of me, and I succeeded in putting myself in a near death encounter with an eyelash viper. I referen...

Kia Sportage Tailgate Lighting Kit- Dealer Accessory
Просмотров 31321 день назад
I picked up the tailgate lighting accessory from Kia for my 2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid and this is what it is all about! I was tired of hitting dead ends on the old internet trying to find some sort of real life pictures or videos on this. THERE ARE NONE! But now there is one! The cost was $125.70 for this, as well as 1.5 hours of shop time charged. At my dealership they charge $160/hr. If you ca...

      😂 well I'm looking at a bug deflector now in my living room haha. I ordered one from Amazon, have to get installing! I also had Kia install side steps. I looked at Amazon side steps, while there was some good looking options, with this item I was worried about quality. Most Amazon steps I found were rated around 250 lbs. The Kia steps are 410 lbs. They look good too! I'll be making a video soon. I'm on the fence with the hitch and wiring as it is quite pricey and I don't know that I'll need it for towing. I have a couple other vehicles with hitches.

    Outstanding! I have 3 out 5 items you have for my 2024 SX Prestige. I don’t have the window visors but now that I see how it looks on your vehicle, I may get them next. I was considering the hidden storage box also but, I went with the console organizer instead. I’m not sure if both can be used together because I think the organizer uses that dead space in the arm rest depending on what stuff you put in it.

    • @thejauntingape
      @thejauntingape 11 дней назад

      Thanks for the view! The window visors don't just look good! They help with the sound in the cab with the windows open, but what I liked best about them is that when it is raining it offsets the rain just enough that it doesn't drip onto the inner door panel and controls. I cant speak for the organizer taking up any of that dead space, but I sure do like that hidden console! Perhaps some light modifications to the organizer may accommodate the use of both! Cheers!

      Hey Miles, Thanks for the view! Ya the secret storage is pretty cool, 3 weeks after installing it and it is snug as a bug! I spent some time looking around for the rear seat only cargo mat, unfortunately, all I can find is the kits with the whole cargo area. However, I do keep the cargo area one in there on top of the new one, as it is super handy to slide out and dump any dirt or whatever might be on it. The back seats remain protected.

I feel I was super lucky not to have been pulled over by the police with all of the driving I was doing, there was definitely no shortage of them, and they had several check stops along the way. Aside from all of the diverse micro climates you find in Costa Rica, the health care is top notch, safety is quite high. The political situation is much better than some of the neighboring countries. While the cost of living may seem to high to a tourist, I think if you lived there and figured the system out you could live for fairly cheap. Rent is definitely a steal of a deal, at least from the retirees I spoke with in Cahuita it was. But for me it is the micro climate thing. How there can be a totally different ecosystem and climate in literally an hours drive is amazing, and you can keep chasing that!

I have a few other videos on Loy Krathong, Doi Suthep and a river cruise I would encourage you to have a peek when you have some time. The night tour of Doi Suthep is amazing and there is a secret viewing platform there to get the view all to yourself! We might be there at the same time, I have not put in for my holidays yet but regular time off starts on the 26th so if I can get approved a week early Ill be there haha! Looks like Ill be missing the festival this year as well.

    I've put 3,800 kms on mine so far , mostly in cold weather, I find it guzzles gas everytime the temperature dips below zero, I wasn't expecting to be doing 8.5 liters per 100 kms on a run of highway that would give me between 5 and 6 liters per 100 in a kia Forte. Was wondering if your experience has been similar ?

    • @thejauntingape
      @thejauntingape 2 месяца назад

      You know what, I haven't put 500km on it yet, I drove it to the city and back haha! 8.4 is what I got on the highway and 5.8 throughout my day in the city. It was pretty cold, I don't imagine the battery is as efficient as it might be above zero. I'm curious as to if your forte was all wheel drive?

    • @jimmyv8307
      @jimmyv8307 2 месяца назад

      @thejauntingape the Forte was front wheel drive, I was hoping the sportage would have an all wheel drive defeat option for eco mode driving but that said, as the temperature climbs so does the sportage's efficiency, I'm getting good numbers above 8° , the warmer the better

    • @thejauntingape
      @thejauntingape 2 месяца назад

      @@jimmyv8307 Well its the time of year for warmer temperatures! (I hope). So far with the 500 km I am quite happy with my decision, The Mazda CX50 was my runner up, I could appreciate the driving experience with it, but it lacked tech and most importantly cargo area! I like to car camp!

      Just an update here, now that I've put a few km on it. Today was a 714 km journey, my trip computer told me it did 7.5 l/100km, I did the actual math on all the fills and my actual usage was 7.1 l/100km. Not a huge difference, but definitely the right direction! There was a decent crosswind the whole trip so I'm pretty ok with those numbers. I did a 500km trip last week and it was showing 6.7, I didn't do the actual math on that one tho! 😖

    I had something of this same brand installed on a BMW but it's only a battery charger for the engine starter since I didn't opted for the engine heater.

      @thejauntingape 2 месяца назад

      Maybe you don't live in an area where an engine heater is necessary? Where I live it will get down below -40 so a block heater is key! A battery trickle charger would be nice, I will be installing one for sure!

    There are tons of little convenient stores all over LT. I’ve been to the Falls twice never had an issue. But I knew exactly what entrance to take. You were right in LT and you didn’t make it to Playa Bonita( #8 most beautiful beach in the world by National Geographic). Or playa Coson!! Bummer!

      Thanks for the view! Glad you liked it :) Sooooo, I rented a car through expedia which was supposed to land Me a car from Ace rent a car. When I showed up with my itinerary to the Ace office, they told me they didn't have any cars! I had booked 2 weeks in advance! There were about 6 different rental companies in that office that I asked after for a car and nobody had one. I was told to cancel my reservation and come back to see if there was a car tomorrow haha! With my lips hanging, I sat on the curb outside looking for a resort as my road trip dream was bashed. Right before confirming a RIU reservation a man came out yelling that a car had just come in early. This guy was from Nelly. So I ended up renting through Nelly but it was more expensive than my original. Conclusion! I have rented directly with Avis in the past with no hassle, they however usually require advance booking as they tend to sell out. I just returned from Costa Rica, and I used Economy Rent a Car there and this was probably my best experience. DONT USE A 3RD PARTY FOR A CAR RENTAL! And stay tuned for my costa rica trips!

    Reckon it’s possible to get full authorisation for a 2 week trip if you begin the process before arrival?

    • @thejauntingape
      @thejauntingape 3 месяца назад

      You bet, if you contact them before you arrive they can set up the CAAT for you, then you just send them your entry stamp when you land and you should be cleared by NBTC within a day or 2. I had mine within 24 hours of landing

    No flying at night because you can't see the drone ? what if the drone has night vision and you're wearing FPV ? or wearing night vision goggle ?

    • @thejauntingape

    • @thejauntingape
      @thejauntingape 3 месяца назад

      Hi, thanks for the comment! As far as I know you need to apply for special permits throught the national parks. However, I have read that thailand has changed the rules and allowing flight in parks as long as the drone is properly registered and insured. I haven't found this in writing on any official sites, and when i was there in December, they were still checking bags to make sure you weren't sneaking in a drone in SOME parks. Phi Phi island itself I believe is not a park and you can fly it there. It's Maya Bay and Pi Le lagoon that are protected. I would be blown away if they allow drones in maya bay, I think it would be catastrophe with the amount of people that would be doing it. Hope that helps
