Awesome film. Mankiewicz was one of the greatest directors. This film must have been seriously controversial when it came out as I can't imagine that it wasn't. Thought after the autopsy the film was just gonna end but had no idea the last act of this film was going to go that way. Incredible stuff. One of the best Drama films I've ever seen. Poitier and Widmark are amazing together. Can't imagine Widmark being too comfortable with his dialogue in this, must have been rough.

Ern, is the only "bird" that best fits Molly (maid's) question.

Merle Oberon was so beautiful and an amazing actress.

With Sidney ? Ok , let's do it.

Excellent movie all around, exposing racism for how ugly it is,

Richard Widmark was a fine actor. He could play the psychopath as equally as he could play a heroic character. If one has never seen "The Long Ships", in which Widmark plays a captain of a Viking ship and crew. Give it a watch. You will see an entirely different side of Widmark's acting skills. Incidentally, Sidney Poitier was in the "Long Ships" as well.

Now there would be surveillance cameras watching her stash the microfilm. Ahh the good old days.

What an amazing story! Wasn't sure I wanted to watch it, then decided I would and I'm so glad. Miss Oberon's wardrobe was stunning as was she! As someone else said, it's mesmerizing! Never a dull moment!

Very good film that I’ve seen before, but this showing is ruined by too many ads

Did the ''bugs" on her veils bug anybody else or just me? I've been chasing a fly since yesterday and have bugs on my mind.

I'd love to examine her costumes up close. I'm assuming the corsets carried a lot of the weight of those voluminous skirts like they did back then. Wondering if all the underclothes are as authentic as the gowns. There was so much going on under those gowns back then. Layers and layers and layers of fabric. No wonder they were fainting all the time.
