The Savanna Agricultural Research Institute (SARI) is one of the 13 research institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). SARI is located 16 kilometres west of Tamale in the Tolon/Kumbungu District.

SARI’s mandate is to provide small-scale farmers in the three regions of northern Ghana (Northern, Upper East, Upper West) with appropriate innovations/options/technologies to increase their food production based on a sustainable production system, which maintains and/or increases soil fertility. West African Cowpea Consortium Annual Meeting
WACC was founded in 2006 to improve cowpea germplasm for west Africa, Improve disease and pest resistance in local farmer preferred local varieties. Goal is to train Cowpea breeders in the use of modern molecular breeding techniques to readily make local (germplasm) varieties better. This will allow small stake-holder farmers be able to produce more grain and Stover. This means more food stability for their family, better nutrition and more economic potential moving forward.

Is it certain that the mineral fertilisers do not wash away? I am learning that they do wash away and Ammonium NH4 washes almost as easily as Nitrate NH3. Any clarification to my learning would be appreciated. Thank you

When applying Urea as second application, does it require digging a hole and bury or can be placed beside the plant. Urea is soluble while NPK is granular.

I recommand the Zai technique which consist of digging small holes in the ground where seeds will be planted. Fertilizer will be precisely put in these holes instead of spreading all around the field. These technique save a lot of resources first of these are fertilizer
Putting fertilizer in the same hole as seeds could burn them.
The movie is nice and shows a goodwill, however, there should be some inidcations about what is "just enough" fertilizer per plant or hectare. Also, should be few words about the linkage of water and fertilizers are essential, especially these days when rain become erratic.
