I don't like Viewliner roomettes, because the toilet doesn't have any privacy, but Superliners are better, because when it comes to using the bathroom, I need my privacy.

We took the Zephyr to Chicago then hopped on the Cardinal to Baltimore. It was a round trip in first class bedrooms. I've uploaded vids if you want to take a look. Thanks for a great video!

I rode on the Empire Builder Superliner last year and used its shower. It's a stall about the size of a closet, and it uses a handheld spigot like you find at home. It's a bit louder in track noise there because the floor drain empties right onto the tracks. Of course, no one showers while the train is in the station.

You might be right here in the U.S. and there is a bit of novelty, but sleeper passengers also tend to be older. Also, less hassles getting on a train than a plane.

I have always wanted to take a trip on Amtrack. It seems trains are becoming a thing of the past:(

Yeah that would make sense because I would think the cars would be the same length. Unless the superliners had wider isles or something.

I've not ridden on a viewliner, but according to Amtrak, they are the same width, but the viewliner roomette is 2 inches longer. They say the lower berth is the same in both. Doesn't make sense that the room is the same width .. I've heard people in the Amtrak Unlimited forums say the viewliner is more spacious.

Cool I've never been on a superliner sleeping car but I've been on Viewliners. I think the viewliner roomettes are just a little bit lager because they have a toilet.

You get privacy in your own room if you get a sleeper, yes. No wifi though.

No wifi, although you can catch a signal in stations once in a while. I had a GPS receiver hooked up to MS Streets and Trips to watch the route on the map as we went.

Out of Seattle I'm guessing you'll be on the empire builder. I want to take a trip on it soon myself.

Im flying out of alaska to seattle WA and taking Amtrak from Seattle to North Carolina cant wait. I will also have my own room. Looks alot better than a car of 60 people. Nice video!

Hi. I'm 6 foot 6 inches tall. I'm considering a train journey across America and I was just wondering how big is the beds? I'm guessing I won't be able to stretch out fully but is there enough room for a comfortable nights sleep?

I'm taking a trip to FL next month and a sleeper from DC to Orlando will be an extra 200 each way

The economy sleepers (there are no more "roomettes"), is very comfortable at night. The bottom bunks are actually larger than the bunks in the bedrooms!

Yeah, I haven't ridden alot, but I like the Superliners better than the amfleet cars.

Sorry I didn't see this before. This shower is on the lower level of the Superliner cars. It is shared by all rooomette passengers of the car. If you want your own shower you have to book a bedroom.
