Interestingly the rhythm of this piece matches the modal of the Mid Atlantic Current - especially along it’s eastern wall where it rides against the Mid Atlantic Ridge. Cole Porter wrote the tune while crossing the Atlantic returning from Europe. Quirky

I bet that if all radio stations around the country, or around the world even,, were to play real music like these orchestrated compositions along with some other love inspired music,, violence would probably drop substantially~!~ I lived through the late 50's 60's, and 70's when all radio stations played the whole range of styles, from light pop, pop, country, soft rock, and orchestrated pieces EVERY DAY, OF EVERY WEEK, ALL YEAR ROUND~!~ Many psychiatric wards play soft, orchestrated music and have wonderful results without question~!~ These days, shopping at walmart, or other stores I'm almost always frustrated, because they cater to the teenagers exclusively and it's a ploy-tactic to get the young people to spend their money~!~!~ It seems no one cares about how children, and teens are adversely affected by the horrendous MU-SICK being fed them~!~

Lawrence Welk's orchestra did this in 1967? I heard the violin section, but did Charlotte get to participate on cello? When The Chantays played "Pipeline" on the Lawrence Welk show back in 1963, Charlotte was tapping her fingers on the neck of her cello.

First time I’ve ever heard this music done by Lawrence Welk.

I never heard the original, but I heard this version when I was 13 or so at my sister's house. Lawrence Welk wasn't too cool but this was the coolest song on the record

Just great. Years ago, when I was working in beautiful music radio, I had a friend who was obsessed with this song. Anytime I was going to play it, I’d ring his phone once 5 minutes before so he’d have time to get to a radio to hear it.
