No idea at all buddy, I think the overheating is to do with the Intel MacBook Air 2020 and not Big Sur. I've had this issue since I got my MacBook and I really regret it. If your mac is within the return period, then I suggest you return yours too. Good luck
for anyone having this issue (sledge hitting the cd's) check that the orientation springs on the rear of the 9000 are set correctly for your application. if they are set correctly then unfortunatley its the rocker arm at fault which is located inside the unit. . this arm becomes worn over time and bends allowing the sledge to sit too close to the cd's thus catching. part number "9134" around £10-£20 from any b&o shop, relatively easy to replace if you are competent with small fiddly things.
The problem is known and often easy to solve. One reason is often dirty sensors. On the one hand it cleans the glass pane from the inside. Then the two small transparent plastic lugs and the black semicircles at the top and bottom of the cds. The best way is to use glass cleaner. Usually everything will run again and the carriage will move into position.

It is the cd sledge hitting the aluminium, take it apart and force down on the cd holder while thightening the screws
Thank you Jacob, I think you're right on this one. I got a replacement one after all without the issue. Perhaps it was damaged in transport.
Run test mode 71.
Thanks Ernest, I didn't have a chance to test it on the new system and just returned it but i'll bear it in mind for the future. thank you.
But what is the problem? Can you tell me please
Hi sorry I had issues with my account, to be honest I sent it back. I think it was the CD mechanism was not aligned correctly.

@@willholt89 Hi Will, sorry for the late (3 years!) reply. I returned it but if you look at Jacob's comment, he provides a suggestion.
