How to take Great Photos with Patience / Lake Garda on #35mm Film
In this video, I talk about a problem that we all face at times: being limited in our creativity. I explain how I deal with those situations. In this video, I shoot #35mm Film on my Leica Z2X on Kodak Gold, while exploring beautiful Lake Garda in Italy.
I hope you enjoy this one. More videos from my 2 week Italy trip are coming next week :)

    Different cameras for different purposes. The Leica is great for street and I have had very little issue with shooting portraits. I use Portra 160 or Portra 400 with a ND filter if needed. I also have the Hasselblad 500 C/M and had the RB67 Pro S, with all these systems there is a trade off, one has to work with the limitations.

    • @TobiasHolzweiler
      @TobiasHolzweiler День назад

      100% agreed! I think it’s also very nice to use different systems because I feel they make you shoot in a different way and that’s kind of refreshing and inspiring at the same time 🥰

      @@TobiasHolzweiler You're very welcome. The things you describe as "hard" really shouldnae be difficult for anyone with a modicum of competence in using a camera, especially one which has it's own inbuilt light meter. @@streetwalkerphoto as explained in the video I ditched the M system for a slr and point and shoot, both work better for the moment. I’m happy I made my experiences with the M system and I took some decent images with it. Even though it’s not for every genre of photography, it was great fun to experiment with it in all genres. I wanted to explain to people how different it is from other systems though

    I wanted to add to you, I'm shooting only film (so far) and I am afraid of repeating myself, very rarely I do any backs for the shots, I always move on knowing that I have only 36 shots. And moreover, I have this thought 'oh, it's a simple image, mundane, let's not take it' and it leads to constant search of the 'golden shot' and thus many opportunities lost. You make me feel more confident with taking photos and working with camera

    • @TobiasHolzweiler
      @TobiasHolzweiler 4 дня назад

      thank you so much my friend, it makes me very happy reading this. I totally understand your struggles and it makes total sense. The fear of missing out shots it not good. I think it has a lot to do with building up confidence over time and to be "ok" with not having all shots you could possibly take. I think there is no "perfect" outcome. Just make the best you can :)

    How did you 'solve' the focus issue with fluid shooting style? I've shot models 10+ yrs with a lot of motion both on subject and myself, using SLRs and constantly focusing manually while moving, as it's what you see is what you get - it allows one to fully focus on the moment. Key reason why I'm still not on m system is the 'focus and recompose' requirement - any tips?

    • @TobiasHolzweiler
      @TobiasHolzweiler 10 дней назад

      I have to say the M system is the most convenient to shoot with manual focus it is very fluid and intuitive especially if you shoot it with zone focusing. I’m pretty sure other camera systems especially SLR’s won’t work as easy as M system for manual focusing :)

É com se você enxergasse os detalhes de cada locação e conseguisse transmitir a vibe nas fotos de uma fora muito certeira, na real eu não sei nem explicar.... kkkk !! My friend thank you so much for your detailed feedback. I know it seems very effortless when looking at the video. But I’ve struggled with image selection and diversify my photographs during the shoot for a very long time. All I can say is that it takes a lot of practice. But it’s totally manageable if you just do it for a long time. What really helps is to don’t put too much pressure on yourself but rather embrace everything that’s around you. I can only say analogue photography really help me with this because it let me focus on my surroundings much better than over correcting myself on the screen of my camera. I hope this makes sense :) And yes , I’m the official Uno boss now 😂

    Thanks for the insight. How I wish I had had someone constructively yet as surgically brutal on my work as the instructor you encountered. Kind of reinforces the idea that we are what we consume. This resonates deeply with something I read from Fernando Pessoa earlier this week: "I am the size of what I see." For me, it suggests that our growth, understanding, and identity are shaped by the scope of our perception. The more we see, experience, and engage with, the more expansive and profound we become-even the art we create reflects this. I see it as a challenge to continuously broaden my horizons, literally and figuratively, by seeking fresh perspectives, new ideas, and transformative experiences.

      That’s absolutely beautiful to hear my friend. I totally agree with everything you say.. I think we easily get lost in social media and think this is an easy way to expand our horizon. Which is kind of true. But since everyone else is on social media, it might make sense to consider getting your inspiration from somewhere else in order to really make your work stand out. Talk about this quite often when I say “it comes from within” and I truly believe that if you try to mute all the noise around you You can truly find your own creative path 🥰

    My journey from film to digital, Leica M3, Nikon F2 to a Leica MD262 keeps me slowing down still! The MD262 has no screen neither does the film cameras. I loved shooting film but the rising costs and time to develop (too slow), put the MD262 as my main camera today. I`m content and not worried about never shooting film again...!

      it’s such a great camera, I had the chance to shoot the m10d once and it was such a breeze, I’m sure so is the md262! From my experience, both cameras, such as film, teach us so much about the creative process and allow us to act more creatively ☺️
