satoko sweetie im so sorry
Anna Shcherbakova's and Caroline's spin positions are really amazing and beautiful
These are all hair cutters and things. What about pure laybacks?
Damn, I would’ve had Satoko at first for a multitude of reasons: First being her insane layback position that she immediately goes to rather than the weird side position (that I don’t know the name of) that most skaters do as their first position. Her back bend is actually insane and in my opinion, only comparable to that of Lucinda Ruh’s, who is literally the queen of spins (Ruh’s has the attitude/pointed toe in some of her programs that some people heavily prefer though I feel that Satoko’s layback has more musicality.) I actually prefer that she doesn’t have the classic layback position (or attitude) because she’s honestly made it her signature to be honest 😂 Second is the fact that she’s able to go from all her positions (upright/first position>sideways>haircutter>bielmann) all without losing any speed in between. And that isn’t mentioning how her insane speed doesn’t sacrifice the centering of her spin 95% of the time ❤ Lastly, her layback is almost always in sync with the music, especially in the clip that you chose where she changes position every time the strings change as well.

For me the most impressive is Caroline. Hasn't her layback been given a special name ?
yes, the pearl!
Not really any of these are pure layback, they are either catch foot, or combination spins ending often in a Biellmann spin..number 12 started off with a GORGEOUS actual non catch foot lay back, with great turned out leg that is not nearly touching the floor like some, back is definitely arching back, with arms in a great position above the head, but it ended in combination as well...number 3 started out with a nice one but combination as well...in a really good lay back, someone should be able to sit a tray on the skaters chest, and rest it there if not spinning....wanna see 2 fantastic laybacks? Rudy Galindo, and even better Adam Rippon...his is GORGEOUS...with fully arched back most girls can arch back better to get that look where you could lay a tray on their chest, but for a guy Adam does great (nearly flat), leg up and in turned out position, spin is smooth with no drag, or catching on the edge of the spinning foot (skater if on sweet spot for spin shouldn't hear anything coming from the blade spinning on the ice). In your chosen group, I would HAVE to give it to Karen Chen hers is PHENOMENALLY GOOD, could have just done classic lay back without the combination, but must say she looked fantastic in this clip...and her choice of music..spot on...really nice!!! Her Bielmann was superb too!
it’s not a combo spin if they’re all variations of a layback. a haircutter, side layback, and biellman are all layback variations (technically a biellman is a variation of upright spin but it doing one in a layback spin gets you a spin level). a “catch foot spin” would be from a camel position. You can only get a level 2 spin at the most with just a simple layback position (could use difficult entry and 8 revs for spin levels but that’s it), so skaters pretty much have to do a mix of different layback positions.
Hmmmmm. Some placements are all wrong here….. I think it’s more to do with the oldest figure skaters who first execute it. Alissa should have been placed second, Sasha as we all knew was the first, being older than any of them . Shizuka was the second oldest after Michelle Kwan with Sasha being third.. And where’s Fleur Maxwell?. Shizuka did some great laybacks too.😄
Thank you for the translations, did you use my colour edited version instead of the original video? 🤣🤣
Probably, haha. I got sent this video by someone to translate. I will credit you now, I'm sorry I didn't know :)
