Trying to reach you for some reason I can't comment on the Trans Am video Do you have a phone number I can call you at please regarding the car ? Thank you so much
Wrong. The 302-2V cubic inch F code motor was STANDARD in the 71-73 Mach '1s. The H (71,72,73), M (71), Q (72, 73) and R (72) code 351s' were all optional at different parts of the model year runs. The C and J 429's were '71 only. I was a former Mustang Club of American judge for 71-73s. Go look it up. The 302 was standard on the Mach 1, the L code 250 6 cylinder was standard on most other applications ( except 71 Boss, for example).
I know this is a crazy old video but your steering wheel is on wrong. See the little indent on the inner hole of the wheel? It lines up with the same indent on the adapter.
Turn the steering wheel so the phenix is right side up and take the steering wheel off rotate the wheel to be possitioned where you want it and then reinstall the steering wheel. Now adjust your tie rods to re align the wheels. Just don't take it to Midas for the alignment they may break your car.
Very late, but the simple answer is...when installing the end piece of the column, you put the keyway at 6 o'clock position. It needs to be at the 4 o'clock position which matches the keyway in the steering wheel.
It’s not just your dogs. Search RUclips and you will find plenty of videos of dogs howling at my pillow commercials. We look every week and there’s always new ones added weekly.
Both of your steering wheels are installed wrong on the hubs. And your hub is most likely installed wrong on the steering shaft too. Notice the slot on the inside wall of the hub is at the 6 o'clock position in relation to the steering wheel when the wheel is in the straight up position. That's wrong. Notice the rectangular cutout in the steering wheel at about 4 o'clock. The slot in the hub should line up with the cutout in the steering wheel. So, the slot inside the hub will be lined up with the 4 o'clock positioned cutout in the steering wheel. Also, when you install the hub on the steering shaft, there's are alignment marks to line up there too. There's a small line/mark on the raised lip of the center hole in the hub. Look closely to see it. You may need a flashlight. There is also a line/mark on the top face of the tip of the steering shaft. The mark on the hub hole and the mark on the steering shaft tip should be lined up exactly, and in the 12 o'clock top position. That is the straight ahead position for the steering wheel and steering gear, and your wheels should be in the straight ahead position too. When the hub and wheel are installed properly, the cap emblem will be straight up when you put the cap on.
You can also tell it's a 302 because of how the radiator hose connects on the left of the distributor. 351's it goes into the top of the engine block., on a 302 it goes into the side.
I had the same exact problem when I first got my 76. At the time, I had pried up the the emblem and glued it back upside down. I’m now taking apart the column fully and seeing the that actual button that the horn pushes in can rotate 180 degrees, which would also require the outermost collar go on 180 degrees
72mustangfb You’re the man I live in Michigan too and have a 73 that I just bought a couple months ago as a project car but not like this one I think I would’ve felt overwhelmed with this vehicle more than the one I have

It's in good shape, would get it but I already have a 79. From the front emblem it looked like it was originally black since I believe they only put the gold emblem on the black special editions. I am not positive though.
ya who knows. The body tag I didn't really dissect. I knew it wasn't a SE. Someone might have painted it black at some point. The problem is the person I got it from was a lady and she was selling because her husband died but she knew nothing about the car.
Has not been dyno'd however with the 323 gears these need to be changed before you do that, Id say we are around 300 with a gear change, maybe more. Since its a convertible it was built for reliability not racing, Other than the fact that I didn't want to spent money to change gears and right now its still a good highway car, it definitely has a great sound and runs very good.

Is the wheel on backwards
The old reliable 302. I had a 71 mustang coupe. Nice starting point for the lucky buyer.
@johnberry2366, a coupe is NOT a Mach1
Had a 73 mach1 baked in the day, damn I wish I would've kept it
Super nice
Nice project car for sure. Arizona is a great place to find one. Had a 72' Sports Roof Sprint Edition back in college . Should have kept it. 71-73's 👍
Base engine in a '73 Mustang Mach I was 351, NOT a 302.
, I own a 73 mach 1 matching #s all the paperwork and it has a 302 I thought they didn't and I ended up doing a ton of research just to confirm
@@DarkAngel-ps4wc only the high-performance Ford engines has engine numbers that match the car's VIN.

That’s not a Mach 1 they all came with a 351 and Ram Hood
No,the 302 was standard Mach 1 fare in '73,the 351 was an option.
What did you get for it?
