Excellent video of an epic day 👌
Thank you! Yes it was an epic day!
The Panoramic Class B van looks pretty nice! I had to look them up. Looks like they are from Canada, but do some manufacturing in Simi Valley, CA.
That was a new one for me. I don’t recall hearing about them before.
My Uncle's brought an RV when he retired from the State of TN back in the late 1970, and he went FL every winter and visited west TX.
I’m the guy in the cowboy hat.. 7:09 mark 😂😂
@@CoachMoy Very cool!
9:14 NAVY….? 🤬🤬…😂!!
Whoops!
Costco is awesome. You can get a big jug of soap to fill up that soap dispenser you just got!
NO REAL MAN TELLS THEIR MOTHER NO 👋👍
@@cornbread-KO5RN True Dat!
Mike had Jason around the corner for his 2 contacts. Ha
Yes, there was a lot of that, but it counts! 🤣
Cool video! Nice to see some of the new attractions and especially the City Wave! I’m not sure how I’d do on it, but I’m up for trying!
This was cool to watch, I moved to Bowie, TX two years ago last month. Surprisingly enough, I had not heard that a tornado had hit the town prior to moving here. Was wondering what damaged those old buildings in town. That building that's empty by H&R Block is now a smoke shop. Some of the damaged buildings in town are being refurbished and have some businesses in them. I really enjoy the small town and the people here are really friendly. I grew up in the city life and decided to move to a small town to get away from the congested city life.
Very cool! Thank you for watching.
CORRECTION: That Sports Clips is located on the South side of Hebron just West of Midway Road. 🤦🏻♂️
I've known one of these guys for 32 years and counting! Proud of you john! You've come a long way since construction blinkers and broken Nova windshields. 😂
Thanks for this video.
Thank you for watching.
Nice discussion on POTA.
Oh wow! I saw you at the Ham expo in the mall the other weekend. This video is exactly what I was looking for as I been wondering where field days actually are, who has them and also clubs not far from me. I don’t have HF equipment and overall new to ham. Mainly get on repeaters till I get hf. I’m KI5UTI.
There are some great clubs in the county that will get you where you need to go. I would definitely look into them.
Hi new friend here from FW, TX
Howdy, friend!
Thanks Michael!
Wow I haven’t seen the inside of that mall in over 2 decades.
Yeah, it’s a bit eerie walking through it with the memories in my head.
Celebrity might be stretching it just a bit.
You are, and you don't know it. Seriously, that was a sweet set up.
The blue sign was Music City Mall sign.
Thank you! I was wondering if it was a Dave and Busters sign.
I was so tired, I thought it was 2023. No, Michael! It is 2024, and we are almost at the halfway point.
LOL Len saying your tag line!!!😂
🤣💀
Let's go!
Nice video Michael! I enjoy camping but looks like I only missed getting more wet. lol
You got plenty wet, sir! I have video evidence of it. 🤣
i loved this as a kid! thanks
You said "near totality", but that was 100% total totality
My understanding was that we were just above the totality area, but we did get to see the cool silver ring in the sky. Down in Dallas County, if it were not for the clouds, I believe you would not see the ring, but a glow beyond it. I think we had a cooler view with the thin glowing silver ring in the sky. This is definitely a memory to remember.
Like I said, the video was a bit rough. I hope I didn’t make any sick with the constant motion and inattention to the camera.
Very cool ,at about 19:48 in your film you can see Venus to the bottom Right. Dan
That is cool. I was wondering about that. I was hoping that wasn’t dust in my lens.
❤
I need to go back there again.
@@GettingOutInLife i cant
24:58 you can see the radio I dropped falling off the side. lol
I’m at the club meeting. I got to watch it on a bigger screen at home, now.
Was fun to have top and bottom live streams happening at once. lol I'd like to get out to one of Andrew's balloon launches!
Racism everywhere there
There's my buddy Ken.
Thanks for sharing your video
Thank you for watching it.
Thanks for the opportunity to share my kit with everyone. I am not used to being interviewed so ...well i am sure people will understand.
You did great! I appreciate you making the trip from Paris, TX to share your setup with us.
Great video Michael!! It's my favorite event, besides all the cool ideas and kits I love the socializing and fun we all have! That storm drain is what they use in Japan. Very decorative but in heavy rain the water splatters all over the place. hehe
Thank you! It was a lot of fun. I haven’t missed one yet.
Great video and good to meet up with you at the Go Kit Challenge, keep up the great content. Ki5JMG
Thank you! It was good to see you there too!
Hey look horizontal view!!! lol😂Sorry I missed the stream.... oh wait... I was there...
🤣
Good job Michael. Thanks for coming out and making me RUclips famous.
I had a lot of fun today.
I took my Technician test there a couple of years ago... and then browsed around the ham fest. Not winning a single door prize
I didn’t win anything either. I do need to get a mobile installed, and that 500 would look nice in my vehicle.
I would have gone if I didn't help with LL's tower! Great video!
Thank you!
Passed General there Saturday morning, then explored the tables and chatted with folks. Good time!
That’s awesome! Congratulations!
I need to start planning better so I know when all the expos are so I can plan to attend. This one looks fun. I'd love to have a nice camper/RV but dang they're expensive.
They are an investment, and a bit of a money pit. I have been debating going full time in one. It would be nice to have when showing up for an event. For now, it is a dream.
Good Afternoon. Was just curious about what antenna you are using for you rig? I've currently got a Browning 6155 for my repeater. It works pretty well, but always room for Improvement without spending $2,000 i hope. WRDA382 CHEERS from Colorado
It is a PCTel UHF commercial antenna. Unfortunately, I don’t have the model number for you. It’s a fairly tall fiberglass antenna.
How did you handle the identification? I ended up using a uv-5g and a raspberry pi pico to do the trick. And how did you get permission to put that thing up on someone else's tower? I would really like to get my setup more than 50 feet of elevation in this flat area.
This took about a year and a half from inception to realization. We have been working on this project with the Town of Little Elm over a portion of that time. As far as the rules for identification, those can be found at the following link under § 95.1751 GMRS station identification: www.ecfr.gov/current/title-47/chapter-I/subchapter-D/part-95/subpart-E The repeater itself is not required to ID. I hope this helps.
what channel and pl tone?
I would reach out to LAARK for that info. You can find them on Facebook at facebook.com/k5lrk, and their website is K5LRK.org.
I am always open for correction. It is good to always review the rules as they may change from time to time. A local ham urged me to do a little more research on this matter. I kept referring to households using a GMRS license, but here is what is stated in Part 95.1705(c)(2): “Any individual who holds an individual license may allow his or her immediate family members to operate his or her GMRS station or stations. Immediate family members are the licensee's spouse, children, grandchildren, stepchildren, parents, grandparents, stepparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.”
Enjoyed the video 😊❤
Thank you!
Great video
Thank you!
Wooow what a wide Range View from the Roof Top. It's all Fltaland and perfect for 2m and 440Mhz Operation
That first building, Stark Hall, was the first skyscraper in Denton County. Guinn Hall is even taller. Yes, those repeaters all have great range.
I'm not sure what this relates to? Is this just conversation about a fella who messes up the year? That's cool. Human stuff too. Well hey I thought I was 48 years old when I was 47. So when my birthday was coming up I thought about turning 49... I like the sound of 48 better. But here we go it's all a journey right?. And then I did the math!! No just kidding my sister actually told me and said you are not 49 you're only 48 and then she did the math. I could have sworn so it was really fun being 48 for 2 years. Excuse the grammar I was doing talk to text I don't have my reading glasses; I'm well past 48 now!
